Summary

Problems

Existing valve position indicators face challenges in providing accurate and easy setting, especially for different valve types, and often require complex customization, leading to inaccurate readings and cumbersome operation.

Innovation solutions

A valve position indicator with a housing containing a main rotation axle, gear wheel, and indication means, allowing for easy adaptation and accurate positioning, featuring a mechanical or electronic signal that indicates fully opened or closed states with minimal rotational movement, and optional visual or electronic signals for direct operator feedback.

28 Mechanics substitution (Replace mechanical system)
Try to solve problems with it

Principle concept:

If a linear movement indicator is used to indicate valve position, then the indicator can show continuous position, but the reading accuracy deteriorates due to cumulative linear translation errors

Why choose this principle:

The patent replaces the traditional mechanical linear movement indicator with an optical detection system. A light source and sensor detect the position of a marker on the gear wheel, converting mechanical position into an optical measurement that is then processed electronically to determine accurate valve position, thereby eliminating cumulative linear translation errors.

Try to solve problems with it

Principle concept:

If a linear movement indicator is used to indicate valve position, then the indicator can show continuous position, but the reading accuracy deteriorates due to cumulative linear translation errors

Why choose this principle:

The patent introduces an intermediary optical detection system between the mechanical gear wheel and the indication display. The marker on the gear wheel serves as an intermediary element that translates mechanical rotation into a detectable optical signal, which is then processed to provide accurate position information without direct mechanical linear translation.

Abstract

The invention relates to a valve position indicator (10) comprising a main rotation axle (17) operably connected with said valve. Repositioning said valve provides rotation of said main axle (17). Said main axle (17) is provided with a main axle disc (19) comprising at least one tooth (22) for cooperation with a gear wheel (26) comprising a plurality of teeth. Said main axle disc (19) comprising along part of its circumference a toothless portion substantially not interfering with said gear wheel (26), such that said at least one tooth (22) provides a rotation of said gear wheel (26) and said toothless portion provides no rotation of said gear wheel (26) upon rotation of said main axle disc (19). Said gear wheel (26) is provided on a secondary axle (27). An indication means (28) is operably connected with said second axle (27) for providing an indication of a position of said valve. The invention also relates to a method for using the valve indicator according to the present invention.
