Abstract

The invention relates to a strap (20) for carrying an object (7), in particular a name badge, access pass, badge, service badge or sign, around a user’s neck. The object (7) can be held by the strap via a loop-like section (21) of the strap, and at the longitudinal ends of the strap (20) there is a connection element (6; 31) formed substantially of the material of the strap (20) is provided at the longitudinal ends of the strap (20) for connection the strap (20) to the object (7). The invention also provides a strap arrangement (22) comprising the strap (20) and an object (7) to be carried by the strap (20), in particular a name tag, access pass or badge, characterized in that the object (7) has at least one recess (8) in which the strap (20) can be locked in place with at least one connection element (6).

Description

Strap and strap arrangement The invention relates to a strap as defined in claim 1 and a strap arrangement as defined in claim 28. Such straps are known in a variety of designs and are used, for example, to verify the access authorization of a person wearing the strap around its neck to a building or an event such as a trade fair, a congress, a conference, a workshop, a cultural event, a sporting event or the like. Such straps, often also referred to as lanyards, are also used for visitors or employees of company buildings or premises, as well as government agencies and infrastructure facilities, which are not generally accessible in order to ensure the highest possible level of security. Thus, EP 3 560 377 A1 describes a lanyard keychain worn around the neck, the shoulder or the wrist, comprising an elongated material having a front and a back face, the front face being printed, wherein the lanyard keychain comprises a first, a second and a third section, the first, second and third sections being arranged sucessively along the length of the lanyard keychain, such that the second section is part of the lanyard keychain. The second and third sections are arranged consecutively along the length of the lanyard keychain, such that the second section is situated between the first and third sections. The second section has a cross-sectional width that is smaller than the cross-sectional width of both the first and third sections. The lanyard keychain is arranged such that, in use, the printed front face is visible. Furthermore, German utility model specification DE 20 2015 002 130 U1 discloses a strap arrangement provided with a loop section for hanging around the neck and at least one holder attached thereto for an access authorization, an identification document, a ticket or a similar document, in which the holder can be connected to the loop section via a detachable quick-release fastener. This improves the distribution of the strap assembly to large crowds at major events such as open-air concerts or church congresses. This is because the documents indicating access authorization can be connected to the strap section via the holder and thus held in reserve, so that upon distribution they can be connected to the loop section via the quick-release fastener or issued separately to the respective visitor. Beside it, DE 202 11 715 U1 describes a so-called strap, i.e. a neck strap for carrying keys, ID cards or similar items, comprising a strap that can be placed around a person’s neck, which features at lower end a fastening device for an object to be carried and, at a distance from the lower end, at least one panic clasp that opens automatically when a tensile force is applied, connecting a first free end and a second free end of the neck strap to form a closed strap. The panic release is formed by a first insertion tab arranged at the first free end and a first insertion opening arranged at the second free end, through which the first insertion tab can be inserted against the force of a retaining force. With the straps or lanyards, respectively used thus far, name tags, admission tickets, service or identification badges, often also referred to as badges, are usually attached to a loop-like section thereof using snap hooks. The ID cards or identification badges are also inserted into plastic holders, which can then be secured to a snap hook via a connecting hole. As conventional lanyards are made of different materials, disposal is made more difficult by the need to separate the components into different material categories. On the other hand, recycling the lanyards or their parts also requires them to be dismantled or separated according to the different materials. Furthermore, German laid open publication DE 10 2015 000 859 A1 discloses a sustainably manufactured lanyard keychain or lanyard, respectively made of a strap, a connector and an end piece. The strap, the connecting piece and the end piece can serve as advertising media and are made of a compostable material, so that the lanyard keychain as a whole can be classified as a sustainable product.  Even if a high level of recyclability or sustainability is achieved by proposing a strap made of a compostable material, the problem of the strap having to be laboriously dismantled into its individual components still remains. The invention therefore sets itself to the task of simplifying the recycling or disposal of a strap arrangement with a strap. The task is solved by the subject-matter of patent claims 1 and 28. Accordingly, in a first aspect, the invention provides a strap, carrying strap, respectively for carrying an object, in particular a name badge, access pass, badge, sign or service badge, around a user’s neck, wherein the object can be received by the strap via a loop-like strap section or by a loop-like strap section, and a connection or joining element, formed substantially of the material of the strap, is provided at at least one longitudinal end of the strap for connecting or securing the strap to or on the object. In a second aspect, the invention accordingly provides a strap arrangement comprising a strap according to the first aspect and an object to be carried by the strap, in particular a name tag, access pass or badge. The strap arrangement is characterized in that the object has at least one recess in which the strap can be locked using at least one connection element. According to the invention, a strap or carrying strap, respectively is provided which is essentially formed from a recyclable material and can be connected directly to the object to be worn by a user without the use of external connection elements, for example those made from a different material. A strap arrangement comprising the strap can be easily dismantled into its component parts, which can then be conveyed to a recycling or to a sustainable disposal. The advantage of the invention lies in the conservation of resources and a reduction in the number of materials used. Furthermore, the invention offers cost advantages by reducing the types of materials used. Furthermore, the degree of recyclability or of disposal of the strap arrangement is increased. In one embodiment of the inventive strap, the connection element is formed as a hem of at least one longitudinal end of the strap. In this way, a high degree of functional suitability of the strap can be ensured without the use of additional material.  In another embodiment of the inventive strap, the connection element is formed by a folded-over strap section, in which layers superimposed in an appropriate manner are bonded together. The advantage here lies in the minimal labour required to ensure the functional suitability of the strap. Alternatively, the connection element may be formed by layers of a folded strap sections that are superimposed and joined by thermal bonding. This does not require the use of any additional material. In a preferred embodiment of the inventive strap, the connection element is designed as a barbed hook-like section. This simplifies the manufacture of the inventive strap whilst ensuring its functional suitability. Furthermore, the use of additional materials is avoided. In a particularly preferred embodiment of the inventive strap, the barbed hook-like section is formed by incisions, brought in substantially lateral at an angle to the longitudinal extension of the strap. This allows the carrying strap to be easily locked onto the object. Preferably, a connection element is provided at both longitudinal ends of the strap, which may be designed like the connection elements described above, for connecting or securing the strap to the object. This achieves greater variability in the type of connection to the object whilst providing an improved mechanical connection.  If the free ends of the inventive strap are not sewn together or connected in any way, the loop-like section is formed by the strap and the object held therein.  A connection or securing of the strap to or with the object can be ensued at just a single connection or securing point. The advantage here is that safety against a hazardous situation caused by the strap becoming jammed is at least somewhat increased. This is because the two unconnected ends of the strap can detach from the connection or securing point if a sufficient tensile force is applied. A sufficiently stable connection or securing of the strap to or with the object can be ensued, where the ends of the strap are not connected to one another, via two connection or securing points, preferably designed as recesses. The advantage of this design lies in increased safety. As the strap itself does not contain a loop, should the strap or the like become jammed and a corresponding tensile force be applied, one end or both ends of the strap would detach from the connection or securing point(s). If the free ends or end sections of the inventive strap are connected to one another, preferably sewn together, connecting or securing of the strap to or with the object at only one connection or securing point is improved in terms of stability of the connection between the strap and the object. The loop-like section of the strap can thereby be secured to the object or connected to it via the connection element at one or both longitudinal end(s). This is because, where the ends of the support strap are joined to one another, preferably by sewing, the strap can also be sufficiently well connected to, or secured at, the connection element provided at one of its longitudinal ends. In one embodiment of the inventive strap, in which its free ends or end sections are connected, preferably sewn, in the longitudinal direction between the barbed hook-like sections, mechanical reinforcement of the locking of the strap to the object is provided. In an alternative embodiment, the free ends or end sections are connected, preferably sewn, in the longitudinal direction outside the barbed hook-like sections. The advantage here lies in an easier insertion or threading of the strap into the object. Preferably, the inventive strap is formed by two partial straps which are connected or joined by an adhesive seam-like sewing joining in such a way that the sewing joining is located at approximately the same distance from the free ends of the strap. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the strap is formed of a substantially recyclable material. This is preferably utilized again, recycled polyethylene terephthalate. The seams and adhesive seam-like sewing joinings on the inventive strap are preferably executed using threads made of recycled polyethylene terephthalate. Even if the strap cannot be reused, the strap material, polyethylene terephthalate, can be recycled. In the inventive strap arrangement, the object is preferably formed of a material containing cellulose, more preferably of cardboard or paper. The object is preferably designed as a folding card or cardboard. In one embodiment of the inventive strap arrangment the connection elements of one or both longitudinal ends are received by at least one, preferably slot-like, recess in such a way that the strap is locked to the object. In the object, which is preferably made of cardboard or paper, the at least one recess is then preferably brought in centrally along an outer edge. In another embodiment of the inventive strap arrangement the object has at least two recesses spaced apart from one another, in each of which the strap can be locked with a respective connection element. If, in this embodiment, the object is designed as a name tag, access pass, admission ticket and / or badge formed by a material containing cellulose, in particular paper or cardboard, locking of the strap in each of the recesses performs the function of a panic lock. In the event of an accidental jamming of the loop-like strap section, which may lead to a shortening thereof, strangulation of the user is prevented by one or both ends of the strap disengaging from the respective recess or by the strap being released as a result of the object being torn open from the recess. If, in a strap arrangement, the strap is connected to the object by the connection elements of both longitudinal ends being locked in a recess, a panic lock is achieved by an adhesive seam-like sewing joining provided in the loop-like strap section opposite the connected longitudinal ends of the strap. The adhesive seam-like sewing joining thereby or joins two partial straps to form the loop-like strap section. When a tensile force acts on the loop-like strap section, the adhesive seam-like sewing joining tears open, and thereby prevents the loop-like strap section from moving towards the neck of a person using the strap arrangment and thus averts a life-threatening emergency situation. After use of the inventive strap or strap arrangement, respectively the strap can easily be removed from the object and, following appropriate cleaning, reused. Depending on the design of the object, this too can be reused. If the object is designed as a ticket, access pass and / or badge for an event, sustainable event management with a minimal ecological footprint can be achieved. The invention is explained in more detail below in conjunction with simplified drawings, which are kept at various scales guided by embodiment examples. The extended view of the strap shown in Fig. 1a is, as in the subsequent embodiments, also reduced in size compared to its functional view shown in Fig. 1b. Towards the longitudinal ends 1a, 1b, between the longitudinal edges 1c, 1d and angled relative to the longitudinal extent of the strap 1, incisions 4, 5 are brought in at opposite positions. The incisions 4, 5 are provided such that they lie between the seam 2 formed at one end 3b of the loop-like strap section 3 and a closed longitudinal end 3a of the loop-like strap section. The incisions 4, 5 form a barbed hook-like connection element 6 for connection or securing the strap 1 to an object designed as an access pass or admission ticket 7, as shown in Figs. 2a and 2b.  Thereby, an inventive strap arrangement 11 is formed by the strap 1 being locked with the barbed hook-like connection elements 6 in a recess 8 of the access authorization card 7. The barbed hook-like sections 6 formed by the incisions 4, 5, which are associated with the longitudinal ends 1a, 1b of the strap 1, thereby permeate the recess 8, as shown in Fig. 2b, and rest against a rear side 7e of the access authorization card 7. The strap 1 is locked in the recess 8 by a web section 12 of the barbed hook-like sections 6, formed between the flanks 9c, 9d of the incisions, lying close a recess edge 8a in the region of the rear side 7e of the access authorization card 7. The locking mechanism is such that forces acting on the strap 1 whilst it is being worn cannot release it.  However, inasmuch as the forces occurring during normal wear of the strap 1 should be exceeded due to the loop-like strap section 3 becoming jammed or snagged in such a way that it tightens around a user’s neck in the region of the loop-like strap section 3a, a safety or panic lock is required. Such a panic or safety lock is shown in second embodiment of the inventive strap 1’ illustrated by means of Figs. 3a to 3c.  The loop-like strap section 3’ is formed, according to Fig. 3b, by two partial straps 13, 14, which are joined together to form the loop-like strap section 3’ as follows. Thus, first longitudinal ends of the partial straps 13, 14, which are provided with the barbed hook-like sections 6, are sewed together to form the seam 2'. Opposite the seam 2’, second longitudinal ends 13a, 14b of the partial straps 13, 14 are connected or joined to one another by an adhesive seam-like sewing joining 15 to form the loop-like region 3’. In contrast to the first embodiment of the inventive strap 1, the seam 2’ in the strap 1’ is arranged along its longitudinal extent to facilitate insertion or threading of the strap 2’ between the barbed hook-like sections 6. It is understood that the arrangements of the seams 2, 2’ at the strap 1 according to Figs. 1a, 1b and the strap 1’ according to Figs. 3a to 3c can be interchanged. The adhesive seam-like sewing joining 15 is formed with stitches spaced further apart than those of seam 2‘ and is not sewn right through to the side edges 1‘c, 1‘d. This enables the ripping of the loop-like strap section 3‘, as illustrated in Fig. 3c. Thus, when a clamping force, which is illustrated by the arrow FK and which exerts a pull on the loop-like strap section 3’ and thereby on the user’s neck surrounded by it, as illustrated by the arrows t13, t14, is applied, the partial straps 13, 14 are separated from one another. The second embodiment 1’ of the inventive strap illustrated in Figs. 3a to 3c, can thus also be worn for carrying company or staff ID cards in workshop environments with moving machinery, without a safety risk existing for the wearers of the carrying strap 1’. If the seam joining the two longitudinal ends or end sections of the strap 1, 1’ is arranged, as shown in Fig. 3b, between the barbed hook-like section 6 and the closed longitudinal end 3’a, then, in a further embodiment of the inventive strap not shown here, unlike as shown in Fig. 3a, the barbed hook-like section 6 is provided at only one longitudinal end 1a or 1b or 13b or 14a of the strap 1, 1’. Even with only one hook-like section 6, a sufficient connection between the strap 1, 1’ and the access authorization card 7 is achieved in such a case.  In the third embodiment 20 of the inventive strap illustrated in Figs. 4a and 4b a loop-like strap section 21 is closed not solely by the strap 20, but by its connection to or securing to an object such as an admission ticket or authorization card 7. As shown in Figs. 5a, 5b, the free ends 20a and 20b of the strap 20, which are provided with hook-like sections 6, are each inserted into one of two recesses 8 provided in the authorization card 7 or admission pass 7 at a distance from one another near an edge 7r of the admission and locked in place by means of the barbed hook-like sections 8. If the authorization card 7 is made of paper or cardboard, preferably recycled paper, then in an emergency situation, when the clamping force FK illustrated in Fig. 3c is applied, the authorization card 7 would tear in the area of an upper recess edge 8a as shown in Fig. 5a, thereby releasing the strap 20 by breaking the loop-like strap section 21 and eliminating or preventing the risk of the loop-like strap section tightening around the neck of a user of the inventive strap 20. A fourth embodiment 30 of the inventive strap, which is equivalent in terms of safety precautions, is illustrated in Figs. 6a and 6b. Connection or joining elements, each designed as a hem 31, are arranged at free ends 30a and 30b of the strap 30. The hems 31 are each formed by folding over the strap 30 at its longitudinal ends and sewing together the layers of the strap lying parallel to one another. The double layer of material thus achieved forms the hem-like connection or joining element 31. The strip 30 is locked in each of the recesses 8 spaced apart from one another near the edge 7r of the authorization card 7 by means of the hem-like connection or joining element 31 (Figs. 7a, 7b). The locking is achieved by the tab sections 35, which are turned away from the longitudinal ends 30a, 30b with respect to a seam 34, lying close to the recess edge 8a as shown in Fig. 7b. In this embodiment too, the safety or panic lock is achieved as described by means of Figs. 5a, 5b. Where a badge, formed for example of plastic, is received by the strap 30 in a wearing arrangement, and the connection elements 31 are inserted for locking in the recesses 8 the badge provided according to Figs. 7a and 7b, an additional panic lock, such as that illustrated in Figs. 3a and 3b, is naturally required due to the material stability of the badge. An admission ticket or access pass or name badge, membership, organiser or staff pass 7, which contains at least the same information on both of its front side 7f and its back side 7e is found to be advantageously in the embodiments 11, 22, 33 of the inventive strap arrangement. This ensures that, even if the strap 1, 11, 20, 30 twists between the closed longitudinal end 3a, 3‘a and the object 7, the information on the respective ID or information card remains legible or can be displayed. Provided the admission ticket, access pass or name badge 7 is designed as a fold-out card, it can be reused. The same applies to the strap 1, 11, 20, 30, provided it is designed to be sufficiently neutral, for example by omitting time and / or location details.

Claims

1.  Strap (1; 1'; 20; 30) for carrying an object (7), in particular a name badge, access pass, badge, sign or service badge, around a user’s neck, -  characterized -  in that the object (7) can be received by the strap (1; 1'; 20; 30) via a loop-like section of strap (3; 3', 21) and-  in that, at at least one longitudinal end of the strap (1; 1'; 20; 30) there is provided a connection element (6; 31) formed substantially from the material of the strap (1; 1‘; 20; 30) for connecting the support strap (1; 1‘; 20; 30) to the object (7).2.  Strap according to claim 1, characterized in that the connection element is designed as a hem (31) of the at least one longitudinal end of the strap (1;
