HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT APPARATUS AND SYSTEM

Claims

A hydraulic control unit is provided, comprising an electric motor and a hydraulic pump. The electric motor and hydraulic pump are mounted at intervals to each other on the respective first and second sides of a body member. The electric motor is configured to drive the hydraulic pump, and both are contained within their respective motor and pump housings, which are configured to isolate the motor and pump from each other. The electric motor housing and the hydraulic pump housing may each comprise an enclosure member and an end cap, wherein the proximal end of the enclosure member seals with the body member, and the distal end of the enclosure member seals with the end cap.The electric motor can be configured to drive the hydraulic pump via a drive shaft extending through a suitable opening provided in the pump body. The enclosure defined by the hydraulic pump housing can be configured to contain hydraulic fluid, within which the hydraulic pump is submerged during operation. A control means is also provided for use with one or more hydraulic control units, wherein a hydraulic control system comprises one or more hydraulic control units, as well as a method for controlling wireline pressure equipment. The hydraulic control unit(s) is ideally mounted on the equipment in a wireline rig for which it is designed to operate.
