Claims
Compositions and methods are provided for creating a rifabutin powder suitable for the preparation of intravenous formulations.
1. A purified rifabutin powder characterized in that subvisible particles have been removed therefrom.
7. A pharmaceutical composition characterized in that it comprises the rifabutin powder of any of claims 1-6 and a pharmaceutically acceptable solvent and / or excipient.
9. A method for producing rifabutin for intravenous administration, characterized in that it comprises: combining a rifabutin powder with an alkane solvent to create a mixture; exposing the mixture to a solid-liquid extraction process; and extracting purified rifabutin from the mixture.
