Adapter and method for modifying vehicle seats

Abstract

The invention relates to an adapter and method of use thereof for adapting a seat on an airline, car, bus, ferry or train to fit a child. In one form, the adapter includes: a fabric body defining a base portion for seating atop the seat base and a back support portion extending from the base portion for resting against the backrest of the seat; a pair of shoulder foam pads extending along opposed side edges of the back support portion; a pair of seat base side foam pads extending along opposed side edges of the base portion, said foam pads configured to abut against an inner surface of the armrests of the seat; a stretchable fabric canopy extending from the back support portion to enclose the shoulder foam pads; and a footrest extending from the base portion to support the occupant's legs.
