Description

BE2025 / 5009 2 one or more products. At the first end of the tube shape, on a first side surface of the tube shape, the part of the field that protrudes further than the one or more products is indented. Preferably, on the second side surface of the tube shape—where the second side surface of the tube shape is opposite to the first side surface of the tube shape—the part of the field that protrudes further than the one or more products5 is indented. At the first end of the tube shape, the part of the field that protrudes further than the one or more products and that part of the top surface is pressed against the bottom surface, so that a part of the top surface makes contact with a part of the bottom surface and a wedge is formed at the first end of the tube shape, whereby this wedge is fixed.10 Packaging according to the invention has the advantage that it is very flexible with regard to the shape, dimensions and number of products that can be packed without other paper or cardboard having to be available. With the same roll of paper or cardboard it is possible in a simple way to pack different numbers of products or other 15dimensions to package products. The length of the sheet of paper or cardboard required from the roll can be easily selected. By folding the edges of the paper or cardboard to varying degrees, it is possible to create different sizes of the tube shape of the packaging. This makes it possible to package different quantities of products, or products of different dimensions, starting from the same roll of paper or cardboard. Therefore, less stock of packaging material is required. It is also an advantage of product packaging according to the invention that the packages can be easily stacked, for example on a pallet. This makes the transport of a group of these packages simple and cost-efficient. It is also an advantage of product packaging according to the invention that the end of the packaging forms a shock-absorbing zone if the packaging were to fall. 2025 / 5009 BE2025 / 5009 3 Preferably, there is a fold line in the sheet of paper or cardboard between the first side surface and the top surface.Preferably, there is a fold line in the sheet of paper or cardboard between the first side surface and the bottom surface.5 Preferably, there is a fold line in the sheet of paper or cardboard between the second side surface and the top surface. Preferably, there is a fold line in the sheet of paper or cardboard between the second side surface and10 the bottom surface. Fold lines ensure that a kind of box shape is formed. This allows multiple packages according to the invention to be easily stacked, for example on a pallet.15 Preferably, at the first end, a part of the top surface making contact with the bottom surface is attached to the bottom surface. This provides a way to fix the wedge at the first end of the tube shape. 20 Preferably, the adhesive is present on at least part of the underside of the part of the field that forms the top surface at the first end; and / or the adhesive is present on at least part of the top side of the part of the field that forms the bottom surface at the first end. This is useful for attaching the top surface to the bottom surface by means of adhesive. 25 This design ensures good fixation of the wedge at the first end.of the tube shape. Preferably, the wedge has a flat extension at its end.30 2025 / 5009 BE2025 / 5009 4 The attachment of the top surface to the bottom surface at the first end of a part making contact with the bottom surface can be carried out by means of one or more of the following methods: - gluing, preferably by means of glue; - sewing;5 - mechanical fasteners; for example with one or more staple(s), with one or more stretch staples, with one or more stretch rivet(s); - piercing connection; - adhesive tape; - ring with backing ring.10 Other methods than those mentioned are also possible. When using one or more staples, a staple is preferably positioned so that it grips through the indented first side surface. Preferably, the same staple—or another staple—grips through the indented second side surface. These designs ensure a very secure fixation of the wedge. Preferably, this fixation takes place at least in the flat end of the wedge. When using glue, glue may be applied so that the top surface adheres directly to the bottom surface by means of glue. When using glue, glue may be applied in the indentation of the first side surface; and / or in the indentation of the second side surface.25 Preferably, glue is applied so that the top surface adheres directly to the bottom surface by means of glue; and glue is applied in the indentation of the first side surface and in the indentation of the second side surface. This design ensures excellent fixation of the wedge.30 2025 / 5009 BE2025 / 5009 5 The use of a ring with a counter-ring has the advantage that a loop is formed with which the packaging can be hung, for example over a rod. Adhesion can also be achieved by means of hydrogen bonds in the paper or cardboard. For example, it can be locally and temporarily moistened and heated by means of steam, whereby hydrogen bonds are formed. A puncture connection refers to craters being punctured through the layers of paper or cardboard making contact with each other, whereby the punctured material is partially pushed into the depth, and thus passes through the crater into an underlying layer. Because of this 10friction resistance arises; this ensures that the layers are attached to each other. At the first end of the tube shape, the outer sides of the skin in the indentation at the first side surface can touch each other and be attached to each other. This attachment is preferably carried out by means of glue. This design ensures better fixation of the wedge at the first end of the tube shape. At the first end of the tube shape, the outer sides of the skin in the indentation at the second side surface can touch each other and be attached to each other. This attachment is preferably carried out by means of glue. This design ensures better fixation of the wedge at the first end of the tube shape. At the second end of the tube shape, the part of the field that protrudes further than the one or more products and that forms the top surface is preferably pressed against the bottom surface, so that a part of this top surface makes contact with a part of the bottom surface and a wedge is formed at the second end of the tube shape, whereby this wedge is fixed. 2025 / 5009 BE2025 / 5009 6This design provides a nice finish to the packaging at the second end of the tube shape. Preferably, the second end of the tube shape is configured in the same way as the first end of the tube shape. Preferably, at the second end, a part of the top surface making contact with the bottom surface is attached to the bottom surface. This ensures good fixation of the wedge at the second end of the tube shape and thus of the packaging. Preferably, glue is present on at least part of the underside of the part of the sheet that forms the top surface at the second end, for attaching the top surface to the bottom surface by means of glue. This ensures good fixation of the wedge at the second end of the tube shape and thus of the packaging. Preferably, glue should be applied to at least part of the top of the section of the field that forms the bottom surface at the second end, for attaching the top surface to the bottom surface by means of glue. This ensures good fixation of the wedge at the second end of the tube shape and thus of the packaging. 25The attachment of the top surface to the bottom surface at the second end of the tube shape is preferably carried out by means of one or more of the following methods: - gluing, preferably by means of glue; - sewing; 30 - mechanical fasteners; for example with one or more staple(s), with one or more stretch staples, with one or more stretch rivet(s); 2025 / 5009 BE2025 / 5009 7 - piercing connection; - ring with counter-ring. These methods ensure good fixation of the wedge at the second end of the tube shape. 5 A preferred design is characterized by the fact that at the second end of the tube shape, the outer sides of the sheet in the indentation at the first side surface touch each other and are attached to each other, preferably by means of glue. 10 This ensures good fixation of the wedge at the second end of the tube shape. A preferred design is characterized by the fact that at the second end of the tube shape, the outer sides of the sheet at the end of the indentation on the second side surface touch and are attached to each other, preferably by means of glue.15This ensures good fixation of the wedge at the second end of the tube shape. In a preferred design, the edges of the sheet are folded over each other in the longitudinal direction of the tube shape so that the inside of the first of these edges makes contact with the outside of the second of these edges. In a higher preference, these folded edges are attached to each other, preferably by means of glue. This design ensures good fixation of the packaging material around the one or more products in the packaging. The one or more products can be one or more elongated products. The tube shape can be parallel to the longitudinal direction of the one or more elongated products. 30 2025 / 5009 BE2025 / 5009 8 This ensures a very efficient method of packaging. The packaging of the elongated products can be done quickly and flexibly, even if varying quantities of profiles with varying lengths need to be packaged. The one or more products in the packaging can contain one or more of 5wood-based elongated products, skirting boards, stair profiles, transition profiles for floor coverings, panels – preferably decorative panels –, planks, or extruded profiles. The list of products that can be packaged according to the invention is not exhaustive. It is possible to package a very extensive list of products according to the invention. The sheet is preferably a sheet of cardboard. By higher preference, the sheet of cardboard is flat cardboard. The sheet can also be corrugated cardboard. However, flat cardboard is preferred because it is easier to fold and wedges – and indentations – can be formed more easily in flat cardboard than in corrugated cardboard. Preferably, the sheet is a sheet of paper or cardboard of at least 200 grams per square meter, with higher preference of at least 250 grams per square meter, with higher preference of at least 300 grams per square meter, with higher preference of at least 350 grams per square meter, with higher preference of at least 400 grams per square meter; and preferably of less than 450 grams per square meter. 25Preferably, a hole is made in the tube shape. Preferably, this hole is covered with a film, preferably with a transparent film, preferably with a transparent info label. This hole can be made in the first side surface, in the second side surface, in the top surface, or in the bottom surface. It is also possible to provide a hole in more than one of these surfaces.30 2025 / 5009 BE2025 / 5009 9 Providing such a hole (or multiple such holes) makes it possible to easily identify products in the packaging. Providing the hole in the bottom surface is preferred. When packaging flat profiles with their flat side parallel to the bottom surface, this has the advantage that the profiles are clearly visible and thus identifiable through the hole, preferably covered with a transparent film, preferably with a transparent info label. Preferably, the tube shape has a rectangular cross-section. 10 Preferably, there is an angle of 90° between the first side faces and the top face. Preferably, there is an angle of 90° between the first side faces and the bottom face.Preferably, there is a 90° angle between the second side surface and the top surface. Preferably, there is a 90° angle between the second side surface and the bottom surface. 15 These design forms provide a nice box shape, whereby several such packages can be easily stacked, for example on a pallet. This allows a quantity of packages to be easily transported. The second aspect of the invention is a method for packaging products20 such that a package with products is obtained as in any design of the first aspect of the invention. The method is characterized by the fact that the method contains the following steps: - making available a sheet of paper or cardboard, preferably by unrolling a roll;25 - placing one or more products on the sheet; -fold the sheet around one or more products, so that the sheet forms a tube shape around one or more products; so that the perimeter of the tube shape contains a first side surface, a second side surface, a top surface and a bottom surface; whereinlongitudinal direction of the tube form the edges of the sheet are folded over each other; 30 and so that at the first end of the tube form the sheet protrudes further than the one or more products; 2025 / 5009 BE2025 / 5009 10 - indent on a first side surface of the tube form at the first end of the tube form of the part of the field that protrudes further than the one or more products, - at the first end of the tube form the part of the field that protrudes further than the one or more products and that forms the top surface, press against the bottom surface, so that a part of this top surface makes contact with a part of the 5 bottom surface and a wedge is formed at the first end of the tube form; and - fix this wedge. This method allows for the flexible packaging of different quantities of products and products of different dimensions, without the need to have (large) stocks of packaging material of different dimensions available. Providing a sheet of paper or cardboard is preferably done by unrolling the sheet from a roll of paper or cardboard. 15Preferably, the edges of the envelope on the top surface are folded over each other in the longitudinal direction of the tube shape. Preferably, the method includes the step of indenting the second side surface of the tube shape at the first end of the tube shape of the part of the field that protrudes further than the one or more products. The second side surface of the tube shape is opposite to the first side surface of the tube shape. In the method, it is possible to fix the wedge by one or more of: - gluing, preferably by means of glue; - sewing; - mechanical fasteners; for example, with one or more staple(s), with one or more stretch staples, with one or more stretch rivet(s); - pin connection or - adhesive tape; - ring with counter ring. 2025 / 5009 BE2025 / 5009 11 Other possibilities for fixing the wedge are not excluded. The method preferably includes the step where the paper or cardboard is scored before folding it into the tube shape. 5 Scoring paper or cardboard is creating a tight, straight fold line in the paper or cardboard, which makes it easier and neater to fold. This also preventsthe tearing of the paper or cardboard during the folding process. Scoring therefore ensures a higher quality packaging. 10 In a preferred version, the method contains the steps of: - indenting the first side surface of the tube shape at the second end of the tube shape of the part of the field that protrudes further than one or more products; - pressing the part of the field that protrudes further than one or more products and forms the top surface at the second end of the tube shape against the bottom surface, so that a part of this top surface makes contact with a part of the bottom surface and a wedge is formed at the second end of the tube shape; - fixing this wedge at the second end of the tube shape. This version provides a nice finish to the packaging at the second end of the tube shape. Preferably, the method contains the step of indenting the second side face of the tube shape at the second end of the tube shape of the part of the field that protrudes further than the one or more products. The second side face of the tube shape is 25 opposite to the first side face of the tube shape.Preferably, the method is carried out on a production line where a second such packaging is produced in line with the packaging with products; where, in the method, the sheet runs from the first end of the tube shape of the packaging to the second end of the tube shape of the second such packaging; where, after forming the wedge from the first end of the tube shape of the packaging; and after forming the wedge at the second end of the tube shape of the second such packaging, the sheet is cut between the first end of the packaging and the second end of the second such packaging. This design allows products to be packaged quickly. 5 The wedge at the first end of the packaging can be fixed and the wedge at the second end of the second such packaging can be fixed before cutting the sheet between the first end of the packaging and the second end of the second such packaging. 10 This design allows products to be packaged quickly. The method according to the invention can be carried out in such a way that both the wedge at the first end of the tube shape of the packaging is fixed and the wedge at the second end of the tube shape of the second packaging is fixed, after cutting the sheet between the first end of the tube shape of the packaging and the second end of the tube shape of the second such packaging. This method of execution allows products to be packaged quickly. The method of the second aspect of the invention can be carried out on a production line, whereby a second such packaging is produced in line with the packaging of products; whereby in the method the sheet continues from the first end of the packaging into the second end of the second such packaging; where, for the formation of the wedge at the first end of the packaging and for the formation of the wedge at the second end of the second such packaging, the field is cut between the first end of the packaging and the second end of the second such packaging.30This design allows products to be packaged quickly. 2025 / 5009 BE2025 / 5009 13 This cutting of the sheet between the first end of the packaging and the second end of the second such packaging can take place at different positions on the production line. It is possible to perform this cutting before the products for the packaging are placed on the sheet. It is possible to perform this cutting after the products for the packaging have been placed on the sheet. In design designs of the method according to the invention, it is therefore possible that the wedge at the second end of the tube shape of the packaging is formed and fixed before the wedge at the first end of the tube shape of the packaging is formed and fixed. With the aim of better demonstrating the characteristics of the invention, some preferred forms of implementation15 are described below as examples without any restrictive character, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 shows an example of packaging with products in accordance with the invention;Figure 2 shows a view according to II–II of Figure 1 of the packaging with 20 products from Figure 1; Figure 3 shows a view according to III–III of Figure 1 of the packaging with products from Figure 1; Figure 4 shows a step in an execution form of the invention for realizing the wedge at the first end of the tube shape; Figure 5 shows possibilities for fixing the wedges at the first end and at the second end of the tube shape; Figures 6, 7 and 8 illustrate examples of methods according to the invention; Figure 9 shows a detail of an execution form of the invention according to the view indicated by F9 in Figure 3; and Figure 10 shows a detail of an execution form of the invention according to the view indicated by F9 in Figure 3. 2025 / 5009 BE2025 / 5009 14 Figure 1 shows an example of packaging10 with products according to the invention. Figure 2 shows a cross-section according to II-II of the packaging of Figure 1. Figure 3 shows a cross-section according to III-III of the packaging of Figure 1. The reference figures have the same meaning in the different figures.5The packaging contains products12 and a sheet of flat cardboard14. The sheet of flat cardboard14 is folded around the products12, so that the sheet of flat cardboard14 forms a tube shape16 around the products12. Instead of a sheet of cardboard, a sheet of paper can be used.10 In the example in Figure 1, the products12 are skirting boards for finishing a floor covering. The tube shape16 is parallel to the longitudinal direction of products12 in the packaging10. 15 Figure 1 shows the packaging10 with skirting boards; other products can also be packaged in a similar way, whether or not they are elongated products. The perimeter of the tube shape 16 contains a first side surface 17, a second side surface 18, a top surface 19 and a bottom surface 20. The second side surface 18 is opposite the 20 second side surface 17. The edges 21, 22 of the sheet cardboard 14 are folded over each other lengthwise along the tube shape 16, in the example shown on the top surface 19. The inside of the first edge 21 of these edges makes contact with the outside of the second edge 22 of these edges. In the overlap, the edges 21, 22 are glued together. 25At the first end 24 of the tube form 16, the sheet of flat cardboard 14 protrudes beyond the products 12. At the first end 24 of the tube form 16, on the first side surface 17 of the tube form, the part of the sheet of flat cardboard 14 that protrudes beyond the products 12 is dented, forming an indentation 28. 2025 / 5009 BE2025 / 5009 15 At the first end 24 of the tube form 16, on the second side surface 18 of the tube form 16, the part of the sheet of flat cardboard 14 that protrudes beyond the products 12 is dented; this in the same way as on the first side surface 17. 5 The rear end 24 of the container form 16 is the part of the skin surface cardboard 14 that protrudes further than the products 12 and that part of the upper surface 19 is pressed against the lower surface 20, so that part of the upper surface contacts the opposite part of the lower surface and the rear end of the container form 26 is formed. This scale26 is fixed, so that this scale retains its shape. The fan end 24 has a contacting part of the bottom surface 20attached to the bottom surface19, for example by means of glue. 15 To achieve this bonding of the top surface19 to the bottom surface20 at the first end24 of the tube shape16, glue may be applied to at least part of the underside of the part of the sheet of cardboard that forms the top surface19 at the first end; and / or to at least part of the top side of the part of the sheet of cardboard that forms the bottom surface20 at the first end24. 20 However, other methods of joining at the first end24 of the tube shape16 are also possible. At the first end of the tube shape, the outer sides of the sheet surface of the cardboard in the indentation meet at the first side surface and these outer sides are attached to each other, for example by means of glue. This is clarified in Figure 4. Figure 4 shows a 30step in an implementation form of the method of invention for realizing the wedge26 at the first end24 of the tube shape16. 2025 / 5009 BE2025 / 5009 16 The packaging10 of figure 1 contains at the second end32 a wedge33 configured in the same way as the wedge26 at the first end24. In the packaging10 of the example, a hole30 has been made in the second side18 in the tube shape16, through the cardboard. The hole30 is covered with a transparent film. This makes the products12 in the packaging visible. This improves the identification of the contents of the packaging. It is also possible to alternatively or additionally make a similar hole – and a covering by means of a transparent film – in the first side17, or in the top surface 19, or in the bottom surface20. The packaging description of Figure 1 states that the wedge is fixed with glue. However, other methods are also possible.15 Figure 5 illustrates possibilities for fixing the wedge26 at the first end 24 of the tube shape16. The same method can also be used for thefixing the wedge33 at the second end32 of the tube shape. 20 Figure 5A shows a design in which the wedge26 at the first end24 of the tube shape16 is fixed by means of sewing thread40. Figure 5B shows a design in which the wedge26 at the first end24 of the tube shape16 is fixed by means of staples41. 25 Figure 5C shows a design in which the wedge26 at the first end24 of the tube shape16 is fixed by means of a rivet42. It is also possible to use multiple rivets. 30 Figure 5D shows a design in which the wedge26 is fixed by making a hole44 and adhesive tape45. 2025 / 5009 BE2025 / 5009 17 Figure 5E shows a design where the wedge 26 is fixed by means of adhesive tape 46 around the flat end of the first end 24. Figure 5F shows a design where the wedge 26 is fixed by means of a staple 415 through the flat end of the first end 24 and additionally by means of a transparent self-adhesive label 47 that also the hole 30 in the bottom 20 of thecovering the packaging and extends around the flat end of the first end24 to the top19 of the packaging. The packaging is shown upside down in Figure 5F.10 Figure 5G shows a design in which the wedge26 at the first end24 is fixed by means of a ring with a counter-ring48. This forms a hole49 that can be used to hang the packaging.15 Figure 6 shows an example of a method according to the invention for packaging products. This example shows an example where packaging proceeds continuously, in discrete steps in a number of workstations along the production line. According to the method of the example in Figure 6, packaging10 as shown in Figure 1 can be obtained.20 A sheet of flat cardboard14 is made available, in the example by unrolling a roll50. With discs52 mounted on a shaft53, the sheet cardboard14 is scored along the 25 intended fold lines for forming the tube shape16. A number of products12 are then placed on the sheet cardboard14. This stepis followed by folding along the fold lines formed by the scoring of the sheet surface cardboard14 around the products12, so that the sheet is positioned as a tube shape16 around the 30 products10. The perimeter of the tube shape16 contains a first side surface17, a 2025 / 5009 BE2025 / 5009 18 second side surface18, a top surface19 and a bottom surface20. In the longitudinal direction of the tube shape16, the edges of the sheet are folded over each other. At the first end24 of the tube shape, the sheet cardboard14 protrudes further than the products12.5 Glue55 can be applied using glue applicators56. This glue55 can be used for gluing and fixing the wedges26,33 at the first end24 and the second end32 of the tube shape16 respectively, more specifically for fixing in the flat extension27 of the wedge.10 On the production line, following the packaging10, a second such packaging60 is produced. The sheet cardboard extends from the first end24 of the tube shape16 of the packaging10 into the second end32 of the tube shape16 of the second packaging60.15The wedge at the first end of the packaging can be formed simultaneously with the wedge at the second end of the second such packaging. The flat cardboard sheet can then be cut after forming the wedges at the first end of the packaging and at the second end of the second such packaging. The wedges26,33 can be made by indenting a first side surface17 of the tube shape16 at the first end24 and at the second end32 of the tube shape16 of the part of the sheet14 that protrudes further than the products12, and25 preferably also by indenting the second side surface18 of the tube shape16 at the first end24 of the tube shape16 and at the second end32 of the tube shape 16 of the part of the sheet that protrudes further than the products12; and by pressing the part of the sheet that protrudes further than the one or more products and that forms the top surface against30 the bottom surface at the first end24 and the second end32 of the tube shape16, so that a part of this top surface19 makes contact with a part of the bottom surface20. 2025 / 5009 BE2025 / 5009 19The wedges can then be fixed in the ways mentioned earlier, for example by means of glue, or by means of one of the methods in Figure 5. In the method in the example, the wedge at the second end of the package is first formed and fixed in a package, after sliding the wedge at the first end of the package into the production line. On a production line there are a number of possibilities for forming and fixing the wedges: The first wedge at the first end of the package and the second wedge at the second end of the second such package can be formed and fixed before cutting the sheet. This method of working is shown in Figure 6. -The first wedge24 at the first end24 of the packaging10 and the second wedge33 at the second end31 of the second such packaging60 can be at least partially formed before cutting the sheet14; but the fixation of these wedges24 and33 only takes place after cutting the sheet. This method is shown in figure 7. In the example in figure 7,rivets42 are used for this fixation. Other methods for this fixation are also possible, for example glue. - The sheet of paper14 can be cut for forming and fixing the wedge24 at the first end24 of the packaging10; and for forming and fixing the wedge33 at the second end32 of the second such packaging60. Figure 8 shows such a process in which the sheet1425 is cut with a rotating knife62 for placing the products 12 on the sheet14. In the design shown in Figure 6, a wide strip of glue can be applied instead of two strips of glue55. Cutting can then preferably be done in the middle30 of this wide strip of glue. 2025 / 5009 BE2025 / 5009 20 Figure 9 shows a detail of a design of the invention according to the view indicated by F9 in Figure 3. Figure 9 shows the flat end 27 of the wedge. In the example of Figure 9, the wedge is fixed in the flat end 27 by means of glue 58,59. Figure 9 shows the positions where glue 58,59 is applied relative to thefirst side surface17, the second side surface18, the top surface19 and the bottom surface20 of the 5 packaging. Glue 58 is applied so that the top surface19 adheres directly to the bottom surface20 by means of glue 58. Glue 59 is applied in the indentation of the first side surface17, and in the indentation of the second side surface18. Figure 10 shows a detail of an execution form of the invention according to the 10 view indicated by F9 in Figure 3. Figure 10 shows the flat end27 of the wedge. In the example of Figure 10, the wedge is fixed in the flat end27 by means of a staple 41. Figure 10 shows the position of the staple 41 in relation to the first side surface17, the second side surface18, the top surface19 and the bottom surface20 of the packaging. 15 The staple 41 is in the example of
