Description

1 / 4 Protective cover for musical percussion cymbals Field of invention

[001] The present invention relates to a device for use with percussion cymbals, which are percussion musical instruments, consisting of a thin, gently conical metallic disc that normally forms part of a set of percussion elements in a drum kit, which is a musical instrument consisting of a set of percussion elements. The purpose of this protective cover is to provide a removable cover for the percussion cymbal; it is used when the cymbal is stored or mounted on the drum kit but not in use at the moment. The function of said cover is to prevent the percussion cymbals from being exposed to moisture and consequent oxidation; from suffering scratches; from accumulating dust; or from being marked with handling, among other advantages. State of the art

[002] It is known that one of the most popular musical instruments is the drum kit, which is a set of percussion instruments, mainly drums, which are strategically arranged so that a single instrumentalist can play them – striking them with drumsticks – performing the rhythmic / percussive part of the music. It is also known that one of the most popular percussion instruments, and which make up the drum kit, are the cymbals, which are a thin, gently conical, shiny metal disc, mounted suspended by means of stands, along with the other elements that make up the drum kit.

[003] In turn, it is known that percussion cymbals are, aesthetically, prominent elements in the composition of the drum kit, as they are higher than the other elements, and their polished and reflective appearance attracts a lot of attention, which makes drummers very concerned about keeping them clean and polished. However, the routine of Petition 870250072684, dated 08 / 18 / 2025, page 6 / 11 2 / 4 Transporting, assembling, and disassembling a drum kit requires constant handling of the cymbals, which causes them to accumulate moisture and / or grease marks from hands, as well as dirt, resulting in loss of shine; and even oxidation and darkening, among other inconveniences. Even in drum kits that are permanently assembled, such as in studios or churches, the constant exposure of the cymbals ends up causing the accumulation of dirt, moisture, handling marks, darkening, and other inconveniences.

[004] With the aim of providing some protection to the percussion instruments that make up a drum kit, such as cymbals, drums, among others, some solutions have been devised, as is the case of the object of patent document MU7601695-1, which reveals a case for storing the aforementioned drum kit elements, however, the said case serves only to store the percussion instrument for transport or storage, and cannot be used while the drum kit is assembled, especially the cymbals, since the said case is basically a rigid box with a top lid. Objectives of the Invention

[005] With the aim of solving such inconveniences, the present invention was developed, which proposes a protective cover for percussion cymbals. The cover is made of elastic fabric and comprises a casing in the shape of a disc-shaped cap, the upper wall of which has a smaller central circular opening, while the lower wall has a larger central circular opening. The cover is worn over the cymbal while it is disassembled from the drum kit; or, the cover can be worn over the cymbal while it is mounted on its stand, so that the upper opening passes over the top and the wing nut of the stand, thus protecting the cymbal. The present protective cover can also be used to wrap around Petition 870250072684, dated 08 / 18 / 2025, p. 7 / 11 3 / 4 other elements of the battery, such as drums, among others, with the cover being sized according to the size of each percussion instrument it is intended to protect. Description of the drawings

[006] For a better understanding of the present invention, a detailed description thereof is given below, with reference to the attached drawings, where: FIGURE 1 illustrates the protective cover in a top perspective view; FIGURE 2 illustrates the protective cover in a bottom perspective view; FIGURE 3 illustrates the protective cover in side view; and the FIGURE 4 illustrates in cross-section the protective cover mounted on a percussion cymbal. Detailed description of the invention

[007] According to these illustrations and their details, the present Invention: PROTECTIVE COVER FOR MUSICAL PERCUSSION CYMBALS comprises a single element - constituting a single body - being made of elastic fabric, or any elastic laminar material. Its shape is basically discoid, similar to a cap, comprising a conical upper wall (C1) followed contiguously by a conical lower wall (C2). The upper wall (C1) has a smaller central opening, circular in shape (A1); while the lower wall (C2) has a larger central opening, circular in shape (A2).

[008] The use of this PROTECTIVE COVER FOR MUSICAL PERCUSSION CYMBALS is very simple and practical. As illustrated in FIG 4, the cover should be placed on the percussion cymbal (P), so that the upper wall (C1) of the cover rests on the upper face of the cymbal (P). In this condition, the upper opening (A1) of the cover is Petition 870250072684, dated 08 / 18 / 2025, p. 8 / 11 4 / 4 automatically positioned over the central region of the cymbal (P), leaving its hole visible; while the lower opening (A2) of the cover is positioned under the lower face of the cymbal (P). It is noteworthy that, in this condition, the cover is stretched due to the elasticity of the fabric it is made of. It is also noteworthy that this cover is also installed on percussion cymbals that are mounted on drum stands.

[009] Logically, the present PROTECTIVE COVER FOR MUSICAL PERCUSSION CYMBALS can be manufactured with a variety of materials, and can also present variations in its dimensions, proportions and geometric shapes, as long as its particular characteristics are maintained, and which are essential to its realization.
