Description
/ 3 CARBON CAPTURE DELAY BOX Field of invention
[001] The present invention applies to the technical field of power plants powered by fossil fuels, called thermoelectric plants, and may also have applications in systems powered by combustion engines, such as cars, trucks and power generators and steam boilers powered by fuels that emit gases. Fundamentals of the invention
[002] Thermal power plants, combustion engines and boilers powered by fossil fuels, derived from petroleum, are massive emitters of greenhouse gases, representing a large part of CO2 emissions in the world and therefore together making up one of the biggest contributing factors to global warming.
[003] Current technologies, although over time there have been reductions in emissions from a wide variety of machines and systems powered by fossil fuels, are unable to reduce emissions to acceptable levels, culminating in a slow path towards the necessary reductions in global CO2 emissions and, at the same time, generating a prospect of decline in several sectors of the economy, mainly oil and gas, and the drastic change of others, such as motor vehicles from thermal to electric, with significant costs generated by this technological transition.
[004] The carbon capture retarder gearbox system represents a simple and efficient solution for capturing CO2 emitted by various combustion-powered machines and engines, changing the classification of these machines and engines in terms of emission volume to categories acceptable to the required standards, thus contributing to the emission reduction objectives needed to curb and reduce global warming in the coming years. [005] An adjacent, but no less important, benefit is the longer-term maintenance of the sectors involved in the development, production, marketing and supply of the current chains that support thermal technologies, avoiding significant economic impacts, such as job losses, price increases and wealth generation in sectors, large companies and countries heavily dependent on these chains. Brief description of the drawings
[006] Figure 1 shows the general scheme of a thermoelectric power plant indicating where the delay box is inserted in the model architecture. Description of the invention
[007] The present invention relates to a gas retention box for combustion gases that enables the cooling and capture of these gases, thus preventing their release into the atmosphere, making combustion-powered machines more environmentally friendly.
[008] The system process begins after the first stage of gas discharge, such as after the filter in thermal power plants or after the exhaust in combustion vehicles, from where the delay box process begins, the first step being the cooling of the gases, thus reducing the flow velocity.
[009] After the speed and temperature of the gases are reduced, while maintaining the flow of new, warmer volumes entering the box, the colder gases remain more at the bottom of the box, a process that can be supported by a forced flow system, ensuring the correct movement of the gases.
[0010] Gases with lower temperature and velocity are directed to the bottom of the box, being captured by a physical medium, which can be anything from sand, porous stone or, preferably, a liquid with a high boiling point, so that the gases become incorporated into this physical medium.
[0011] The final step is the exchange of the physical medium with the aggregated carbon, for proper treatment, which varies according to the choice of material, which can be the Petition 870250008608, dated 03 / 02 / 2025, page 10 / 12 / 3 storage of the sand in the soil itself, washing of the porous stone or filtration of the liquid, in this case in a constant exchange flow, according to the chosen collection method. Examples of embodiments of the invention
[0012] Considering the benefits presented by the present invention, namely, directly capturing greenhouse gases generated by systems powered by fossil fuel combustion and indirectly, maintaining the production chains of oil and gas service industries for a longer period, in addition to adding a new sub-chain for waste treatment, we have important blocks of activity for its realization.
[0013] The first sector of activity in which the invention is realized is in the generation of electrical energy in thermoelectric power plants, through its incorporation into the process of dispersing the gases generated in the combustion of fuels, this installation being primarily in the post-filtration stage of the gases to remove part of the particulate matter from the gases, however, its use before this stage can also be effective.
[0014] The second sector of activity in which the invention is realized is in the automotive and machinery and equipment sectors powered by internal combustion engines, including the marine sector, in which the invention should initially be installed after the catalytic converter in cases where this equipment is used, or immediately after the exhaust manifold in machines without a catalytic converter. It is observed that a pre-catalytic converter mounting is also possible:
[0015] The third area to which the present invention applies encompasses various machines that use petroleum derivatives or other fuels that generate greenhouse gases during combustion, especially boilers and waste-to-energy plants, where, in the same way as in thermoelectric plants, the invention must be installed along the gas exhaust process.
