Description
DESCRIPTIVE REPORT METHOD OF USING OR REUSING LONG-LIFE OR MULTILAYER PACKAGING AND VARIOUS CARDBOARD MATERIALS AND MODULAR ORIGAMI Three-dimensional objects made from these materials. Field and fundamentals of the invention
[01] It is known that, among household waste, more specifically, inorganic household solid waste, long-life or multilayer packaging is among the most challenging for the reuse and recycling sector. This is due to the fact that the material, produced on a large scale for packaging various types of products intended for the domestic consumer, is composed of a variety of layers, generally six, of three different materials, namely paper, polyethylene and aluminum.
[02] There are some processes that result in products made from the discarded type of packaging mentioned, but they all suffer from the same drawbacks, which are the costs and complexity of the processes involved in recycling. The best known of these processes are the manufacture of plastic parts by extrusion with recovered plastic, the processing of roof tiles made of plastic and aluminum after separating them from the paper, and the obtaining of aluminum ingots by a complex industrial process.
[03] All these methods require relatively expensive and significantly complex equipment, the operation of which involves high energy demand and specialized labor. Initially, none of them can do without the initial separation of the paper, carried out by large industrial mixers. For the processes of making plastic parts and roof tiles, there is a need for additional steps to refine the compound before its use in conventional extrusion machines and molding furnaces. For the process of obtaining insulated aluminum, the techniques involve plasma heating, which is known to be... Petition 870250098733, dated 10 / 29 / 2025, page 4 / 11 2 / 4 requires high temperatures and is therefore energy expensive. Thus, these products can hardly compete with other options available on the market, each in its respective niche, unless they are subsidized in one way or another, which can be interpreted as an intrusive element in the market logic and, therefore, artificial and economically unsustainable.
[04] This problem is further aggravated by the fact that the recycling processes mentioned above end up generating waste themselves, due to the chemical transformations involved in the various stages.
[05] In order to enable simplified reuse, something that adds value to the waste in a relatively simple way, this method was devised which aims to change the functionality of the waste, which from discarded packaging becomes a fun toy. State of the art
[06] Since the subject matter of this patent application is limited only to the method presented herein and the products obtained by means of it and refers, therefore, more specifically to methods of reusing packaging, the applicant has not found any references that he has considered relevant for the description of the state of the art presented herein. Brief description of the drawings Figure 1 shows the steps required to take the rectangle removed from the already sanitized material and arrive at the basic modular unit of right triangles, containing flaps (1) and pockets (2). Figure 2 illustrates the flattened packaging (3) with cut (4) and crease (5) indications. Figure 3 shows an illustrative planar diagram of the flaps fitting into the pockets (6). Petition 870250098733, dated 10 / 29 / 2025, page 5 / 11 3 / 4 Description of the invention and example of embodiment.
[07] The process begins, after the flattened (3) and sanitized packages are placed on a horizontal or vertical tray (Fig. 2), with their cutting into rectangles as indicated by the adjacent lines (4) and creasing for folding as indicated by the dotted lines (5), either manually or automatically.
[08] The garment can be coated at different stages of the process with adhesives to homogenize colors or textures or to provide various optical effects such as shine, phosphorescence, etc.
[09] Next, the individual rectangular elements must be folded as indicated in Fig. 1, resulting in the traditional triangular modular units of this origami style, equipped with a pair of flaps (1) and a pair of pockets (2) for later fitting (6), as shown in Fig. 3, allowing the creation of three-dimensional shapes and designs of the most varied types and sizes.
[10] It is important to note that, in the traditional making of triangular units for assembling three-dimensional modular origami, a thinner paper is generally used, where the ideal weight is achieved by dividing or folding a rectangle whose height is approximately half its width, or by folding a square into four equal rectangles. This step is dispensed with here, given the thicker weight of the material now used, proceeding, after cutting and creasing to the ideal dimensions, directly to folding the pieces.
[11] Furthermore, opting for the geometric shape of an exact right triangle is a choice that is both versatile and simplified, but the method presented here is not limited to this right triangle shape, since through slight variations more compact modular units can be obtained, trimming edges and optimizing the use of material, among other objectives.
[12] Finally, given the numerous possibilities and variations resulting from the fitting of the modular paper folding units discussed here, it can be seen that they have the potential to absorb a considerable volume of this waste, which is known to be one of the most Petition 870250098733, dated 10 / 29 / 2025, page 6 / 11 4 / 4 challenging for the recycling sector, as explained in these reasons, and attention must be paid to the environmental benefits of the technique and the new use of the material now proposed.
[13] In view of the above, therefore, the applicant hereby requests a patent for the method now presented under the guise of novelty by second use, given that there is no knowledge of the prior use of the material for the purpose now proposed.
