Description

/ 7 Sheet metal milling machine for creating semicircular channels in wooden parts. Field of invention

[001] This patent application applies to the field of woodworking, specifically to the creation of semicircular channels in pieces of wood used in furniture construction. The invention uses a milling cutter with semicircular movement in the horizontal position, controlled by a motor located at the bottom, and incorporates lateral limit switches to limit the movement, ensuring precision and safety during the milling process. Fundamentals of the invention and state of the art

[002] Conventional milling machines intended for machining sheet metal or wood parts, especially in furniture manufacturing, typically employ linear or continuous movements for material removal. In these systems, the milling cutter is generally coupled to mechanisms that provide complete rotations or one-dimensional movements, without the possibility of precisely defining a specific rotation angle, such as 180°.

[003] In many machines, the milling cutter operates with a continuous rotary or linear motion, which can make it difficult to create channels with precise and defined curvatures. The absence of specific angular control results in imprecise cuts, especially when it is desired to form semicircular channels with accuracy.

[004] Traditional systems may not include mechanical devices, such as limit switches, to limit the movement of the milling cutter. This allows the tool to advance beyond the desired angle, increasing the risk of damage to the workpiece and the equipment itself, as well as compromising the quality of the cut. Petition 870250013332, dated 02 / 18 / 2025, page 6 / 20 / 7

[005] Some high-precision industrial solutions employ complex milling systems that allow for advanced angular and mechanical control. However, this equipment is often expensive and frequently oversized for small or medium-sized furniture workshops, where there is a demand for more affordable and adaptable solutions.

[006] Referring to the state of the art related to patent registrations, the registrations number EP2527111A1 and DE10314087B3 can be cited, which claim a milling machine with oscillating drive and a milling machine for elongated holes, respectively.

[007] The first registered item of number EP2527111A1 has a pendulum drive (51) including a pendulum lever (98), which is actuated by an eccentric device (90) in a pendulum oscillation motion. A device (107) adjusts the larger and smaller amplitudes of the pendulum lever of the oscillation motion. The eccentric device includes an eccentric unit (92), which rotates around an eccentric bearing shaft and acts on the lever. The adjustment device is movably coupled to the eccentric device to adjust a relative position of the bearing shaft to a pivot axis of the pendulum lever (100) to adjust the amplitudes.

[008] The second registration number DE10314087B3 requires a milling machine (1) consisting of a base body (5) on which are arranged contact surfaces (13, 14, 17), through which the milling machine is fixed to a base and / or workpiece (3) to be milled. A drive unit (6) movable in the feed direction (7) is mounted on the base body (5) consisting of a drive motor (8) and an output shaft that rotates during operation and with which a milling tool (5) reaches the front of the base body (5) during the feed movement (10), and may be connected in a rotationally fixed manner. The output shaft and the milling tool (10) are arranged to move forward and backward transversely to the longitudinal direction of the feed (7) of the elongated hole (2) to be milled. A device is assigned to the output shaft. Petition 870250013332, dated 02 / 18 / 2025, page 7 / 20 / 7 of transverse drive that leads to a reciprocating motion superimposed on its rotational motion.

[009] Although theoretically functional, both pieces of equipment demonstrate mechanical complexity, making the equipment more susceptible to failures, the angular movements do not reach 30°, being very limited, and neither piece of equipment adopts a system capable of holding the workpiece during milling, facilitating tolerance errors after milling.

[010] Given these limitations, there is a clear need for a milling machine that allows for the precise creation of semicircular channels in wood pieces, with controlled movement; the incorporation of safety devices that prevent the milling cutter from advancing beyond the desired angle, protecting the workpiece and the equipment; the integration of a robust clamping assembly for the wood piece, ensuring stability and precision during milling.

[011] Thus, the proposed milling machine, with its milling cutter that performs a semicircular movement from an initial position, driven by a lower motor and equipped with lateral limit switches, presents an innovative and efficient solution to overcome the deficiencies found in conventional systems. This innovation provides greater cutting accuracy, operational safety, and ease of assembly and use, superiorly meeting the demands of the furniture sector. Description of the figures

[012] The present inventive activity will be described in greater detail below, by way of non-limiting example, with reference to its preferred embodiment illustrated in the drawings below, in which: Figure 1 illustrates the preferred machine configuration in an isometric view. Figure 8 shows a partial isometric view and detail of the guide rail assembly. Detailed description of the invention

[013] According to Figure 1, the sheet milling machine (1) is defined by structure (2) that supports the base (3) for the wood sheets and the division (4) where the electromechanical components are installed.

[014] Inside the division (4) (Figures 2, 3, 4 and 5) is installed the milling assembly formed by the milling machine itself (5) positioned horizontally and attached to a support (6) fixed to the shaft (7), which is moved by a motor (8) fixed to the lower part. On the sides of the milling machine (5) and the support (6) there are limit switches (9) capable of determining the maximum angle of the milling machine, thus reversing its rotation and preventing the milling cutter from exceeding the stipulated angle. These switches (9) act Petition 870250013332, dated 02 / 18 / 2025, page 9 / 20 / 7 also as safety devices, protecting both the equipment and the piece of wood.

[015] Referring to the positioning of the wooden sheet for cutting or thinning, two guides (10) equipped with clamping clamps (11) and a linear adjustment system formed by butterfly screws (12) inserted into clamping bushings (13) located on the lower faces of the guides (10) are fixed to the horizontal face of the base (3) and to the wall of the partition (4) (Figures 6 and 7), these butterfly screws (12) being screwed into threaded plates (14) located below oblong holes (15) existing in the aforementioned base (3) and partition (4).

[016] At the ends of the guides (10) there are also sliding assemblies (Figures 2 and 8) formed by rails (16) fixed to the lower faces of the guides (11) which slide linearly on skates (17) fixed to the base (3) and to the partition wall (4). These sliding assemblies make the linear movement of the guides smoother and eliminate the risk of twisting.

[017] Finally, a fan (18) is installed inside the partition (Figures 2 and 3) to remove dust and hot air from the inside, forcing air circulation.

[018] The linear displacement of the guides (10), through the linear adjustment system and sliding assemblies, is carried out by unscrewing the butterfly screws (12), manually moving the guides to the desired position and retightening the butterfly screws.

[019] It is worth noting that this type of semicircular cut in pieces of wood is intended for the insertion of quick-fastening devices between pieces, with each part of these fastening devices, male and female, in a semicircular shape.

[020] In terms of advantages, the sheet metal milling machine is Petition 870250013332, dated 02 / 18 / 2025, page 10 / 20 / 7 manufactured with high-strength materials, essential for maintaining the stability of parts during machining processes; the milling cutter performs a semicircular movement from an initial position, allowing the creation of semicircular channels with high precision; the limit switches installed on the sides of the milling machine ensure that the milling cutter does not exceed the stipulated angular limit, avoiding unwanted cuts and ensuring consistency in the depth and shape of the channels; the use of a dedicated motor to control the movement of the milling machine provides smooth and precise operation, increasing production speed without compromising cut quality; the integration of the control system with the safety devices (limit switches) enables operation without the need for constant operator intervention, optimizing machining time; The piece of wood is secured with clamping clamps, ensuring that it remains stable during milling and that the cut is performed uniformly, without vibrations or displacements; with controlled movement and secure clamping of the pieces, material waste is minimized, contributing to reduced production costs; process automation allows for repetitive cuts with high quality, increasing productivity and competitiveness in the furniture sector; the machine's design, with integrated safety and clamping devices, makes the equipment easy to operate, even for less experienced operators; the modular structure and easily accessible components allow for quick and practical maintenance, ensuring continuity of production with minimal interruptions.

[021] In short, the sheet milling machine presents an innovative solution for furniture manufacturing, combining precision, automation, safety and efficiency. These advantages provide not only a high-quality cut, but also contribute to cost reduction and increased productivity, making the machining process more competitive and adaptable to market needs.
