Description

1 / 9 Multifunctional yarn for craft and industrial applications with high absorption capacity, cleaning and reuse. Field of Invention

[001] The invention falls within the field of textile materials, specifically in the development of multifunctional yarns for artisanal and industrial use, aimed at the manufacture of products for cleaning, drying, washing and other similar purposes. State of the Art

[002] The yarns most commonly used today for cleaning, drying, washing and similar activities are made of cotton, which offers good absorbency but has limitations in terms of durability, efficiency in retaining dirt and liquids, and drying time. Other materials, such as pure polyester, offer greater durability but have low absorbency. No existing solution fully meets the absorbency, strength and multifunctionality needs required by artisans and other consumers.

[003] Furthermore, in conventional yarn manufacturing processes (such as spinning, twisting in single yarn, joining several strands by twisting, dyeing or printing, passing cones to skeins and vice versa, and finally cones to balls), it is not possible to manufacture a ball considered perfect, that is, without knots, since Petition 870250076202, dated 08 / 27 / 2025, page 9 / 18 2 / 9 that there are breaks and repairs throughout the process. The only alternative is to discard knotted skeins, which represents a loss of more than 20%. Summary of the Invention

[004] The multifunctional yarn of the present invention solves the limitations identified in existing materials by innovatively combining nonwoven fabrics made of polyester and absorbent fibers, such as viscose, creating a high-efficiency yarn. This yarn can be processed to have different thicknesses and textures, and is particularly suitable for the artisanal and industrial manufacture of items such as cleaning cloths, scouring pads, carpets, towels, and other household or decorative products.

[005] The process of the present invention differs from the prior art in that it is capable of producing a lightweight, airy yarn with multiple multidirectional fibers, suitable for printing, in the exact skein length required by the market, without knots, ideal for weaving general cleaning products, as described in detail below. Description of the figures

[006] The invention will be described below with reference to the accompanying set of figures which illustrate exemplary and not limiting embodiments of the invention, in which: Petition 870250076202, dated 08 / 27 / 2025, page 10 / 18 3 / 9

[007] Fig. 1 represents the steps of the exemplary manufacturing process of the yarn according to the present invention;

[008] Fig. 2 illustrates a roll of the yarn of the invention, together with a cloth in the process of being woven with crochet or knitting needles. Detailed description of the invention

[009] The manufacturing process of the multifunctional yarn of the invention is illustrated by way of example in Fig. 1. The process begins with the production of the nonwoven fabric (TNT) as a base, composed of a mixture of polyester fibers and absorbent fibers, such as viscose or cotton, preferably in a proportion of about 60% to 70% polyester and about 30% to 40% absorbent fibers. Other natural or synthetic fibers with suitable liquid absorption properties, such as lyocell, modal, or others of vegetable origin, may also be used.

[010] Thus, the fabric can be formed from fibers blown onto the conveyor belt of a machine to produce nonwoven fabric. In this blowing process, the fibers are positioned multi-directionally on the conveyor belt and are blended with polyester / viscose or other materials.

[011] The conveyor belt guides the fibers to a heating and calendering process that fuses them into a lightweight fabric and Petition 870250076202, dated 08 / 27 / 2025, page 11 / 18 4 / 9 aerated, which is then washed, cooled, dried and packaged in rolls.

[012] The airy structure of this fabric is one of the conditions for the production of a light and voluminous yarn, since the mixture of fibers provides a high capacity to retain other fibers in manufacturing (characteristic of polyester) and to absorb and retain liquids (characteristic of viscose and others).

[013] Polyester is used in a higher percentage than other fibers, since the fusion of polyester fibers in the manufacturing process ensures the retention of plant-based fibers in the nonwoven fabric.

[014] Furthermore, polyester does not absorb moisture in its own fibers, but retains liquids in the TNT's constructive weave, which is multidirectional.

[015] With regard to the dyeing stage of the fabric and, consequently, of its original yarn, there are basically three processes: - Fiber dyeing, which results in solid-colored fabrics, requiring very high minimum production volumes; - dyeing the fabric, which is complex due to the delicate nature of non-woven fabric; and - printing on delicate and precise equipment, capable of printing over one hundred meters of fabric with Petition 870250076202, dated 08 / 27 / 2025, page 12 / 18 5 / 9 very little deviation from linearity in the longitudinal direction.

[016] In view of this, printing is the preferred process for coloring the yarn according to the present invention. This is particularly relevant since it is desired to provide printing of images (e.g., polka dots, small flowers, small designs) in a width of approximately 1 cm of the fabric along its length, resulting in yarns with such designs.

[017] Thus, the yarn object of the present invention is stamped according to the process described above.

[018] With regard to the fabric cutting stage, it is necessary to consider, preliminarily, that the existence of knots along a thread is a characteristic that is not usually well regarded by users who employ the threads for handicrafts.

[019] Thus, as previously stated, conventional yarn manufacturing processes (such as spinning, twisting in single yarn, joining several strands by twisting, dyeing or printing, passing cones to skeins and vice versa, and finally cones to balls) do not allow the manufacture of a ball considered perfect, i.e., free of knots, since there are breaks and splices throughout the process. In these cases, the alternative is usually to discard knotted balls, which generally represents a loss of more than 20%. Petition 870250076202, dated 08 / 27 / 2025, p. 13 / 18 6 / 9

[020] In the case of the yarn that is the subject of the present invention, the fabric is produced in lengths that are multiples of the yarn length. Thus, if, for example, a yarn 100 meters long is desired, it is necessary to provide a roll of printed fabric 100 meters long, wherein this printed roll may come from one or more raw rolls, these raw rolls coming from a huge raw roll with hundreds of meters, also manufactured in lengths proportional to the minimum multiples into which it will be subdivided.

[021] In summary, according to the present invention, to manufacture a 100-meter ball of yarn, 100 meters of yarn are needed, and this 100-meter yarn (1 cm wide, for example) consists of a longitudinal strip from a roll of fabric 100 meters long.

[022] As exemplified above, this strip, as part of a roll, can be printed longitudinally with small images every 1 cm of the fabric width, as is the case in the example of the present invention.

[023] Thus, if the width of the fabric is 150 cm, this roll can generate 150 threads of 100 meters in length with a width of 1 cm.

[024] Therefore, the aforementioned strip, 1 cm wide by 100 meters long, is obtained through a process of slicing a roll of printed TNT longitudinally every 1 cm along the width of the roll. Naturally, this Petition 870250076202, dated 08 / 27 / 2025, p. 14 / 18 7 / 9 The distribution of drawings can also be done randomly.

[025] Each formed roll is then cut lengthwise by a cutting tool, such as a razor blade, into strips of adjustable width, usually around 1 cm, to meet the desired specifications, so that the discs are formed. The roll rotates in one direction and the razor blade in the other.

[026] Each 1 cm slice placed on the roll results in a disc containing 100 meters of fabric, and each winding spindle is fed in the already known way, manually, by a disc also containing 100 meters. Thus, in sequence, the yarns from each disc are wound into shapes such as rolls, balls, cones, skeins or other knot-free configurations, suitable for commercialization and use by artisans or in industry. The process may also include additional finishing steps, such as dyeing and printing, depending on the final application of the yarn. Normally, the length of the roll to be cut into discs is calculated proportionally to the length of yarn to be placed in balls or other shapes to avoid knots. The way the cut is made can influence the desired quality of the final yarn ball, which should be a knot-free structure. This yarn can be used for knitting, crocheting or weaving in various shapes, such as squares and circles, and subsequently Petition 870250076202, dated 08 / 27 / 2025, page 15 / 18 8 / 9 applied manually or adapted to products such as brooms, mops, dishcloths, and mats. These items, in turn, employ textured fibers to perform different cleaning functions, such as absorbing liquids, scrubbing surfaces, and drying.

[027] The multifunctional yarn of the present invention has several advantages that make it a significant innovation in the multifunctional yarn market. The yarn has a high capacity for absorbing and retaining liquids, being able to absorb much more water volume compared to prior art materials.

[028] In one example, a dishcloth made with the multifunctional yarn of the present invention can absorb water in an amount up to six times greater than the weight of the final fabric.

[029] Products made with the multifunctional yarn of the invention are efficient in squeezing, washing and reuse processes, maintaining their performance even after multiple cycles of use, being considerably more durable compared to nonwoven fabrics made of mixed or natural fibers. In addition, it is highly durable and resistant, extending its lifespan compared to traditional materials.

[030] Versatility is another notable feature of the invention, allowing its application in creations Petition 870250076202, dated 08 / 27 / 2025, page 16 / 18 9 / 9 handmade as well as in industrial production. Finally, yarn is an ecological option, with the possibility of recycling after disposal, contributing to sustainability.

[032] Products made with the multifunctional yarn of the present invention include kitchen cleaning cloths, floor mops, absorbent towels, decorative items, among others. The yarn is ideal for both artisans and industrial production. Petition 870250076202, dated 08 / 27 / 2025, page 17 / 18
