Description
1 / 16 “FLEXIBILIZING COMPOSITION FOR LEGUME AND OILSEED CROPS AND USE OF A COMPOSITION” Field of Invention
[001] The present invention relates to compositions comprising one or more ester compounds of general formula (I) and use of the compositions in the agro-industry, particularly in legume and oilseed crops, in order to confer flexibility to the plant tissues of the pods or capsules of legume or oilseed crops, in addition to being safe for said crops. Background of the Invention
[002] One of the major concerns of agricultural producers, for example, legume or oilseed producers, relates to pod breakage in crops. When breakage occurs, there is a premature release of grains or seeds, for example, before or during the harvesting process, causing grain losses and, consequently, a reduction in the final harvest.
[003] Strategies to minimize losses due to pod breakage include the development of new breakage-resistant lines, the use of mechanical techniques such as alignment during harvesting, and the use of adhesives and sealants.

[0010] In addition, the market uses latex-based products, whose principle is intended for gluing the pods and capsules of crops. However, these products require a high quantity of water for dilution in order to make their application viable (150 L / ha), where the product dose varies from 1.5 to 2.0 L / ha, resulting in a low productivity operation in the application due to the high doses, as well as clogging in the spraying systems due to the properties of the latex.
[0011] However, the solutions taught in the state of the art provide disadvantages regarding their operation, production costs, and low productivity in application due to high doses and clogging.
[0012] Furthermore, it was found that the solutions proposed by the state of the art only provide coverage for the pods of legume and oilseed crops. Therefore, the need for a Petition 870250015379, dated 25 / 02 / 2025, page 11 / 28 4 / 16 technical solution that allows for greater flexibility in legume and oilseed crops in order to prevent capsule breakage, resulting in less seed and grain loss, as well as higher yield.
[0013] The inventors of the present invention have surprisingly discovered that a formulation containing as an active ingredient one or more ester-based compounds is capable of providing adequate flexibility in the pods of leguminous and oilseed crops, reducing losses due to pod opening. Brief Description of the Invention
[0014] The present invention provides flexibilizing compositions that allow for uniformity of maturation and flexibility of plant tissues (capsule and pods), thereby reducing losses due to pod openings in legume or oilseed crops.
[0015] In a first aspect of the present invention, the flexibilizing compositions comprise: (a) an active ingredient selected from one or more ester compounds of general formula (I): (CxHyOn)pa(C3H8O3)q (I) where: x is an integer, ranging from 15 to 60; y is an integer, ranging from 40 to 110; n is an integer, ranging from 2 to 10; a is 1 / 3, 1 / 2 or 1; p is an integer, ranging from 1 to 10; q is an integer, ranging from 0 to 10; and b) one or more surfactants.
[0016] The concentration of active ingredient (a) in the plant tissue flexibilizing composition varies from about 70% to about 90% in Petition 870250015379, dated 25 / 02 / 2025, p. 12 / 28 5 / 16 by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition. Preferably, the concentration of the active ingredient can vary from about 80% to about 90% by weight, relative to the total weight of the composition.
[0017] Said compositions may comprise one or more surfactants (b) in a concentration in the range of about 0.1% to about 30% by weight relative to the total weight of the composition, preferably in the range of about 0.5% to about 20% by weight relative to the total weight of the composition.
[0018] The flexibilizing compositions according to the present invention can be applied in the form of various formulations. The active ingredient (a), i.e., one or more ester compounds of general formula (I) of the present invention, is dissolved or dispersed in a tank. For example, one or more ester compounds of general formula (I) can be prepared as a wettable powder or oil miscible. Therefore, in the flexibilizing compositions of the present invention, at least one liquid or solid carrier is added and it is generally necessary to add at least one suitable surfactant.
[0019] Said compositions according to the present invention can be used alone or in combination with commercially available herbicides, bactericides, plant growth regulators or fertilizers. In one embodiment of the present invention, the flexibilizing compositions can be applied in combination with herbicide at the time of desiccation / maturation of the legume or oilseed crop before harvest.
[0020] In one aspect of the present invention, said one or more ester compounds of general formula (I) are highly soluble in water, allowing dilution up to 12 L / ha, with doses ranging from 0.4 to 0.6 L / ha.
[0021] In another aspect, the present invention provides the use of the flexibilizing composition containing one or more ester compounds of formula Petition 870250015379, dated 25 / 02 / 2025, p. 13 / 28 6 / 16 general (I) in the preparation of products with the function of making plant tissues more flexible in capsules and pods of grains and seeds of leguminous or oilseed crops. Examples of leguminous or oilseed crops include sesame, beans, green beans, peas, soybeans, peanuts or any other crop requiring plant tissue flexibility.
[0022] In another aspect, the present invention provides a method of making plant tissues of seed capsules and pods more flexible, comprising applying a dose of said flexible composition, such as, for example, by spraying or spraying, onto the plant tissues of capsules or pods of legume and oilseed crops.
[0023] Compared to commercially available products, the flexibilizing compositions of the present invention have (i) improved reduction in grain or seed losses during harvesting, since they flexibilize plant tissues instead of coating them; (ii) provide standardization of desiccation; (iii) are simple to prepare thanks to the high solubility of the ester compounds of general formula (I) in water; (iv) eliminate concerns related to possible clogging during their applications; and (v) improve the quality of grains and seeds because “banding” does not occur during the harvesting process.
