Description
1 / 9 “EQUIPMENT AND METHOD FOR HEATING POULTRY HOUSES WITH HYDROGEN”
[001] This patent application refers to a hydrogen heating equipment and method developed for poultry houses, offering a more sustainable alternative to traditional poultry house heating equipment and methods, highlighting its uniform heat distribution, efficiency in large areas and low maintenance costs.
[002] Broiler farming in Brazil is one of the most important and technologically advanced economic activities, with high levels of productivity and excellent feed conversion rates. Furthermore, it stands out for its high level of organization and its position in the world poultry ranking, being the third largest producer and the largest exporter. Thus, poultry farming is an important segment within Brazilian agribusiness, as it generates employment and income for rural producers, and drives a complex industrial chain involving integrating companies, cooperatives, equipment industries, feed inputs, vaccines, and medicines.
[003] Poultry farming is based on poultry houses, which are nothing more than a large enclosure or structure with specifications for raising / confining various species of birds, especially chickens.
[004] In these environments, temperature and humidity are controlled taking into account the weight and age requirements of the bird, so that they reach the slaughter point, or in the case of breeders, produce quality eggs more frequently. The technology used in the development of this culture is becoming more sophisticated every day, thus increasing productivity and bringing competitiveness to the sector. The climate control equipment and the materials used to make the structures are the ones that stand out most in this race of technological development in poultry farming.
[005] An ideal scenario for the development of chicks involves creating an environment that meets all their basic needs, especially in terms of temperature, humidity, ventilation, food and water. In particular, the Petition 870250081823, dated 11 / 09 / 2025, page 7 / 21 2 / 9 The temperature should be maintained between 32°C and 35°C during the first week of the chicks' lives. This temperature can be gradually reduced by about 2°C per week until it reaches approximately 26°C. Heat should be distributed evenly to avoid cold or overheated areas within the poultry house. Furthermore, ventilation is essential to remove harmful gases such as ammonia, carbon dioxide, and carbon monoxide, and to provide fresh air to the birds at all times. Direct drafts on the chicks should be avoided, as they can cause heat stress.
[006] Furthermore, it is important to highlight that birds are unable to maintain their own body temperature in their early life stages. Therefore, they are sensitive to even the slightest temperature variations in their environment, so maintaining a controlled temperature and humidity environment is essential for the development and conversion of birds in the first few weeks. Moreover, feed consumption and weight gain are negatively affected if these factors are incorrectly adjusted, as a cold animal will consume more feed and will not be able to convert the feed into weight.
[007] In the state of the art, the systems commonly used for this purpose consist of gas or electric bells, infrared lamps, furnaces, or gas, wood and electric heaters. However, such systems are inefficient, as they are generally highly polluting, with energy sources mostly coming from non-renewable applications.
[008] For example, patent document MU 9001420-0 presents a poultry heater in which heating is carried out by two wood-fired boilers positioned at the ends of the equipment, and whose heat and fire generated by the boilers are directed to the central area of the equipment, being attracted by the chimney vent centralized to the two boilers.
[009] In another example, patent document MU 8001966-8 presents a wood-burning poultry house heater for use in poultry farms for heating the environment, which consists of a furnace installed on the outside of the poultry house, made of elongated and cylindrical steel sheet, wall Petition 870250081823, dated 11 / 09 / 2025, p. 8 / 21 3 / 9 double, which internally has an axial helical steel plate through which air circulates. In this equipment, the back of the furnace has an opening with a smaller diameter than the front, where a motor is attached that controls the propeller or turbine that blows pressurized air into the walls of the heater, where it is heated and subsequently released into the poultry house without smoke.
[0010] On the other hand, hydrogen can be supplied from pressurized cylinders, storage tanks, natural gas reforming, or it can also be produced through the water electrolysis method (using electricity to split water into hydrogen and oxygen).
[0011] In this way, in poultry houses that have a photovoltaic energy system, there is the possibility of a self-sufficient system with the generation of green hydrogen produced on the property itself with zero carbon emissions for the heating process of the poultry house.
[0012] Regardless of its production process, hydrogen can be stored in cylinders or tanks in an area outside the poultry house and transported to the equipment via a compressed air network, whose storage and piping structure can be part of the entire poultry house structure. Using flow regulators at the inlet of a burner, the amount of hydrogen supplied for combustion can be adjusted. For hydrogen combustion in the system, hydrogen can be mixed with air (or pure oxygen) in specific proportions to form a combustible mixture. With air supplied via a blower attached to the burner, this hydrogen-air mixture can be carried to a combustion chamber, where an ignition system, such as an electric spark, can initiate combustion.Since hydrogen combustion is a chemical reaction where hydrogen reacts with oxygen to form water (H2O), this process releases heat, and the energy released in the form of heat can be used to heat the environment. Furthermore, sensors inside the burner can constantly monitor the pressure, temperature, and composition of the gases to ensure safe operation. Petition 870250081823, dated 11 / 09 / 2025, page 9 / 21 4 / 9 efficient. Hydrogen diffuses rapidly in the air, which can result in rapid spread in case of leaks, reducing the operational risk of the equipment.
[0013] In this sense, the combustion products, mainly water vapor, can be exhausted out of the system through a chimney or suitable ventilation system, and hydrogen, when burned, produces only water vapor, eliminating CO2 emissions and other harmful pollutants, therefore standing out for being more efficient in converting energy into heat when compared to other types of fuels, thus being a zero-pollution system. [0017] As can be inferred from the attached figures that illustrate and form part of this descriptive report of the invention patent, the “Equipment and Method for Heating Poultry Houses with Hydrogen” comprises a complete heating structure with its own characteristics, incorporating a specific structure of high durability and resistance. It is equipment and a method designed to maximize efficiency while reducing environmental impact, bringing the emission level to zero during poultry house heating, containing the components described below perfectly integrated with each other.
[0018] In the hydrogen-based poultry house heating equipment proposed here, a set of cylinders or tanks in an external area of the poultry house stores hydrogen gas (H2) which is transported to the equipment by an air network. Petition 870250081823, dated 11 / 09 / 2025, page 10 / 21 5 / 9 compressed, and this storage and piping structure is part of the entire poultry house structure.
[0019] In the hydrogen poultry house heating equipment (1), H2 is received for combustion at an inlet valve (2), through pressure regulators (3) at the inlet of a burner (4), adjusting the amount of gas that the system will use to burn H2. Solenoid valves (5) and actuation devices (6) start the combustion system, controlled by the equipment's electrical control according to the internal temperature demand of the poultry house.
[0020] The burner (4) is the component responsible for receiving hydrogen from the air network, which has passed through the pressure regulators (3) and then through the equipment's safety valves, comprising the solenoid valves (5) and actuation devices (6), mixing the H2 with oxygen from the air collected in an ambient oxygen intake flange (8).
[0021] The combustion of H2 inside the burner (4) starts after receiving an electrical command that generates a spark to ignite the burner. This electrical command to start the burner (4) comes from a control panel that has the function of checking the internal ambient temperature of the poultry house, and controlling the temperature according to the demand that needs to be maintained in the poultry house. It is important to note that the control panel is also responsible for controlling the drive turbine (9) composed of a motor (10) that has the function of rotating a rotor (11) ensuring that the air circulation inside the equipment is always uniform.
[0022] The reaction of hydrogen with oxygen inside the burner (4), after receiving the starting spark, produces heat in the form of a flame, which is transported to an inner cylinder (12) passing through a reduction cone (13) that has the function of connecting the different diameters of the components and increasing the speed of hot air inside the equipment and then directing it to an emission tube (14), this transport of hot air generated after the combustion of H2 is entirely carried out by the booster turbine (9) which does this Petition 870250081823, dated 11 / 09 / 2025, page 11 / 21 6 / 9 cycle of mixing the hot air generated from this combustion together with the ambient air of the poultry house, which are collected in the oxygen intake flange (8).
[0023] After this mixture of hot air generated from the burning of H2 with ambient air, the booster turbine (9) deposits this uniform hot air mixture into the poultry house, thus generating comfort for the birds that need this high temperature.
[0024] From this chemical reaction generated internally in the burner (4) water vapor is the byproduct, being exhausted through a chimney (15), and for this reason the equipment reduces the level of polluting gas emissions to zero during the heating of the poultry house.
[0025] The hydrogen poultry house heating equipment (1) can, for example, be made of ASTM A36 sheet metal, following safety regulatory standard 12 (NR-12). Its structure can be assembled from carbon steel sheets, cut and bent on CNC equipment, assembled using MIG welding and bolted together as required by the equipment, following the highest level of industrial process quality.
[0026] Side bases (16) of the hydrogen poultry house heating equipment (1), can be made from ASTM A36 sheet with a thickness, for example, of 3.75mm, cut and bent on CNC equipment, and in the welding process, all the necessary sheets that form the structure of the equipment are assembled according to the demand dimensioned in the project.
[0027] In turn, an outer cylinder (17) can be produced from ASTM A36 sheet, for example, with a thickness of 3.75mm, cut on CNC equipment, in a forming process by a calender, the sheet being bent to give the shape of a cylinder, for example, with 0710.00mm and a length of 2,500mm. In the welding process, all the necessary flanges that form the structure of the hydrogen poultry house heating equipment (1) are assembled, according to the demand dimensioned in the project.
[0028] Flanges (18) of the hydrogen poultry house heating equipment (1) can be made from ASTM A36 sheet metal, for example, with a thickness of Petition 870250081823, dated 11 / 09 / 2025, page 12 / 21 7 / 9 3.75mm CNC plasma cut, thus making it possible to make the junctions, for example, by screws, of the outer cylinder (17) with the side bases (16).
[0029] In turn, the inner cylinder (12) can be produced from ASTM A36 sheet metal, for example, with a thickness of 4.75mm, cut using CNC equipment, and then, in a forming process using a calender, the sheet is bent to give the shape of a cylinder, for example, with 0410.00mm and a length of 1,500mm. In the welding process, all the necessary flanges are assembled that form the structure of the equipment according to the demand dimensioned in the project.
[0030] Furthermore, the flanges (19) of the inner cylinder (12) are made, for example, from ASTM A36 sheet with a thickness of 3.75mm cut by CNC plasma, thus making it possible to make the connections by bolts of the inner cylinder (12) with the reduction cone (13) and with the emission tube (14).
[0031] As for the reduction cone (13), it can be produced, for example, from ASTM A36 sheet with a thickness of 4.75mm cut using CNC equipment, and then, in a forming process by a calender, the sheet is bent to give the shape of a cone, for example, with 0410.00mm reducing to 0115.00mm and with a length of 300mm.
[0032] The hydrogen poultry house heating equipment (1) also comprises the emission tube (14), which can be made, for example, with 4.½" SAE 1020 tube with a wall thickness of 3.17 mm and a length of 900 mm, using two 90° and 45° bends to direct the transported heat to the rotor (11) of the hydrogen poultry house heating equipment (1), and to be propelled into the poultry house.
[0033] As for the boost turbine (9), it is composed of the rotor (11) produced, for example, from ASTM A36 sheet with a thickness of 3.00mm cut by CNC equipment, its assembly being carried out, for example, by MIG welding process and finalized in a balancing equipment that guarantees its perfect functioning. The structure of the boost turbine (9) is assembled, for example, from ASTM A36 sheet with a thickness of 3.00mm, cut by CNC equipment, and bent according to the technical drawing of the project to assemble the Petition 870250081823, dated 11 / 09 / 2025, page 13 / 21 8 / 9 base of the system.
[0034] The hydrogen poultry house heating equipment (1) also includes on-site ventilation, which includes the motor (10) for the purpose of moving the rotor (11) to transport the hot air generated after the hydrogen combustion and distribute it to the poultry house in a uniform manner, ensuring the temperature set by a temperature controller that controls the system.
[0035] Furthermore, an engine support (20), as well as the mounting flanges, and the turbine cooling arc in the heater, can follow the same production pattern mentioned above, for example, ASTM A36 sheet with a thickness of 3.00mm, being cut by CNC equipment, and bent according to the technical drawing of the project.
[0036] The air intake for the hydrogen poultry house heating equipment (1) is crucial for the proper functioning of the system, as it is at this point that the air renewal of the poultry house is carried out, this responsibility falling to the ambient oxygen intake flange (8), being made, for example, from ASTM A36 sheet with a thickness of 3.75mm, cut by CNC plasma, and with a 50mm welded side flange, forming a tube to direct the new air to the center of the hydrogen poultry house heating equipment (1). On the side flanges of the ambient oxygen intake flange (8), for example, three supports made of ASTM A36 sheet with a thickness of 3.75mm, cut by CNC plasma, are welded to fix the assembly by screws to the heater.
[0037] For operational safety, for example following NR-12, the hydrogen poultry house heating equipment (1) includes protective covers on the burner (4). A lower protection (21) is produced, for example, in ASTM A36 sheet with a thickness of 3.75mm, being CNC plasma cut and bent following the technical drawing specified in the equipment project, and welded to the base of said hydrogen poultry house heating equipment (1) to serve as a base for an upper cover (22), which is mounted by screws to facilitate the assembly of said equipment. The upper cover (22) is equipped with Petition 870250081823, dated 11 / 09 / 2025, page 14 / 21 9 / 9 protective ventilation for the burner (4), also being produced, for example, in ASTM A36 sheet with a thickness of 3.75mm, being CNC plasma cut, and bent following the technical drawing specified in the equipment project.
[0038] Finally, the chimney (15) can be made, for example, with a 2.½” SAE 1020 pipe with a thickness of 2.25mm, welded to the inner cylinder (12) and passing through the outer cylinder (17) directing the combustion gases to the outside area of the poultry house.
