Description

“MODULAR SPONGE SET” Technical Sector

[01] The present invention relates to a modular sponge assembly, particularly applicable to the field of accessories for cleaning or other domestic and industrial activities, wherein said modular sponge assembly is more specifically applied in cleaning devices, such as squeegees or similar, and can be replaced frequently. The object of the invention proposes a layered structure that allows the selective replacement of the application element, promoting sustainability and operational efficiency. State of the Art

[02] The evolution of tools designed for cleaning or other activities applied to floors and surfaces dates back to rudimentary devices, initially composed of wooden handles or grips and bundles of natural fibers. With the advent of industrialization and the synthesis of polymers, the first fixed rubber squeegees appeared, which, although efficient for pulling water, had low versatility for the application of chemical products or for carrying out abrasive cleaning that required moisture retention in the implement itself. Simultaneously, similar devices emerged for carrying out other activities, such as painting, on surfaces.

[03] Subsequently, the state of the art evolved to include squeegees or other fixed foam devices. These models introduced absorption capacity, allowing the user to apply and remove liquids simultaneously. However, these devices face a chronic technical problem to this day: failure at the bonding interface between the foam and the plastic or metal support. Due to constant exposure to alkaline or acidic chemical agents and the mechanical stress of friction, the foam tends to detach prematurely, rendering the entire implement unusable and resulting in environmentally irresponsible and economically inefficient disposal. Petition 870260040237, dated 04 / 29 / 2026, page 5 / 16 2 / 6

[04] More recently, the market has introduced squeegee models with articulated bases and fastening systems for refills. These advanced models aim to offer ergonomics and modularity, allowing the user to replace the cleaning or surface contact element. However, a technical analysis of these “modern” models reveals a significant gap: they are designed exclusively to replace microfiber cloths or similar thin fabrics. Such cloths are usually fastened by clips, side pockets or proprietary fastening systems which, on the rare occasions when they are even available, limit the consumer to purchasing specific and expensive models linked to the brand of the original tool.

[05] It is imperative to highlight that, despite the articulation of the bases, in the case of squeegees available on the market, these do not have technical support for the replacement of high-density sponges or thick abrasive elements. The cloth fastening structure is unable to support the weight and hydrodynamic load of a liquid-saturated sponge, resulting in instability during use or the physical impossibility of coupling elements that are not textile and thin. Thus, the user who needs deep (abrasive) or high-absorption cleaning ends up being forced to return to conventional foam squeegees and deal with the recurring problem of detachment.

[06] Thus, the present invention presents a modular sponge assembly, which arises to fill exactly this technical and functional gap. Unlike replaceable cloth systems, the invention proposes an assembly that includes a modular fastening element directly attached close to a foam element. This association, preferably by means of a high-adhesion Velcro interface, solves the problem of premature detachment, since the fastening force is distributed over the entire contact surface.

[07] In addition to the mechanical fastening solution, the developed solution offers sustainability and performance advantages not achieved by previous models. While in traditional devices the wear of the foam requires the disposal of the entire plastic support and the handle, if any, the present technology allows the reuse of the squeegee support, or the remainder of the Petition 870260040237, dated 04 / 29 / 2026, p. 6 / 16 3 / 6 device where the assembly is applied, replacing only the cleaning or application element. This drastically reduces the volume of solid waste generated and the maintenance cost for the end user.

[08] Another technical advantage lies in its liquid retention capacity and layer versatility. The modular assembly can include, in an overlapping manner, an abrasive element opposite the side of the modular fastener, allowing a single implement to absorb liquids and remove encrusted dirt from tiles and grout. The foam used has porosity technology that guarantees water and chemical retention superior to that of cloths used in articulated squeegees or other state-of-the-art tools, allowing the cleaning of larger areas with less need for refilling.

[09] In short, the invention surpasses the state of the art by combining the modularity of squeegees and other modern devices with the absorption and abrasion capacity of foam squeegees and other devices, eliminating the fragility of bonding interfaces and the limiting exclusivity of textile refills. The result is a professional cleaning or application system adapted for domestic or industrial use, focused on high adhesion, durability, versatility and economy.

[010] Schematic figures of a particular embodiment of the invention are presented below, whose dimensions and proportions are not necessarily the actual ones, since the figures are only intended to didactically present its various aspects, whose scope of protection is determined only by the scope of the appended claims. Brief Description of the Drawings

[011] Figure 1 illustrates a perspective view of an example of the application of a modular assembly (C) in a cleaning device model (D); Figure 2 illustrates a perspective view of an example of a modular assembly configuration (C). Petition 870260040237, dated 04 / 29 / 2026, p. 7 / 16 4 / 6 Detailed Description of the Proposed Solution

[012] As can be seen in the attached figures, the present invention presents a modular assembly (C) applied to a cleaning device (D), such that the modular assembly (C) can be replaced repeatedly and can be applied to different models of cleaning device (D). Each modular assembly (C) comprises a modular fastening element (1) arranged in a foam element (2) and is attachable to the cleaning device (D) by means of a connection interface, so as to allow the replacement of the modular assembly (C) in said cleaning device (D) whenever necessary.

[013] In an exemplary manner, as illustrated by figure 1, the aforementioned cleaning device (D) is configured by a squeegee, preferably with an all-purpose cleaning support, popularly known as “LT support”. However, it will be understood that the cleaning device (D) may be configured by any tool, which may or may not have a handle, that is capable of comprising an interface susceptible to the application of a modular assembly (C), for actuation by pressure and drag.

[014] Preferably, each modular assembly (C) should also comprise an abrasive element (3) fixed next to the foam element (2), opposite to the fixing side of the modular fixing element (1). For example, this configuration allows the modular assembly (C) to be applied more efficiently in cleaning surfaces that require greater friction, such as tiles and grout, but does not preclude other configurations from being applied to the constitution of the modular assembly (C), variations of which may occur according to each application need of the invention.

[015] Furthermore, it should be understood that the layers that make up each modular assembly (C) may be made of different types of materials, provided that they include at least one connection interface that defines their modular fastening element (1). Thus, by way of example only, the modular assembly (C) may be configured to include natural or artificial abrasives in powder or granule form, intended to be applied to other materials, Petition 870260040237, dated 04 / 29 / 2026, page 8 / 16 5 / 6 possibly incorporating organic surface-active agents, surfactants, washing preparations, amine resins, phenolic resins and polyurethanes, in primary forms, polyurethanes

[016] Furthermore, also preferably, each modular fastening element (1) is integrated into the foam element (2), so that the fastening between the modular fastening element (1) and the foam element (2) occurs permanently (for example, via fusion or industrial adhesion), preventing the interface between these two components from yielding under moisture. Thus, the modular assembly (C) is preferably manufactured in such a way as to integrate the modular fastening element (1) into the foam element (2), but it should be understood that the joining between the layers that make up these components may also occur after the manufacturing process of the modular assembly (C), without departing from the scope of protection of this invention.

[017] Each modular fastening element (1) is preferably provided with at least one layer of velcro, arranged on the contact side of the modular fastening element (1) with the respective cleaning device (D), but it may also be provided with a layer of velcro on its contact side with the foam element (2) of the modular assembly (C), if the foam element (2) allows the said modular fastening element (1) to be removed from the modular assembly (C).

[018] In a particular embodiment of this invention, each modular fastener element (1) must define a layer that completely overlaps the surface layer of the foam element (2). Alternatively, in another embodiment of this invention, each modular fastener element (1) may define a layer that partially overlaps the surface layer of the foam element (2).

[019] Thus, this layer can define a complete overlap on the upper face of the foam element (2) or a partial overlap, ensuring that the modular assembly (C) is robustly and removablely fixed to the cleaning device support (D). Furthermore, the shapes of each layer may also vary according to each application need, Petition 870260040237, dated 04 / 29 / 2026, page 9 / 16 6 / 6 preferably following the shape of the cleaning device itself (D) in which the modular assembly (C) will be applied.

[020] Also preferably, the foam element (2) is made of material with superior liquid retention capacity, allowing the user to clean larger areas in less time. Due to the modular nature of the assembly, once the foam element (2) reaches the end of its useful life, the user removes only the modular assembly (C) from the cleaning device (D) through the interface established by the modular fastening element (1), for example by means of Velcro, keeping the original support for a new cycle of use.

[021] A person skilled in the art will readily recognize, from the description and the drawings provided, various ways of carrying out the invention without departing from the scope of the claims accompanying this descriptive report.
