Abstract
Description
1 / 32 Devices for wireless communications in a network entity and in user equipment, related methods and computer-readable memory. CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED ORDERS
[001] The present patent application claims priority to non-provisional application US No. 15 / 890,965 entitled CONTROL OVERHEAD REDUCTION FOR LOW LATENCY COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS filed on February 7, 2018, and provisional application US No. 62 / 458,399, entitled CONTROL OVERHEAD REDUCTION FOR LOW LATENCY COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS and filed on February 13, 2017, which is expressly incorporated by reference herein in its entirety. FUNDAMENTALS
[002] The aspects of this disclosure relate generally to wireless communication networks and, more particularly, to the reduction of control overhead in new wireless radio communication systems.
[003] Wireless communication networks are widely deployed to provide various types of communication content, such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcasting, and so on. These systems can be multiple access systems capable of supporting communication with multiple users sharing available system resources (e.g., time, frequency, and power). Examples of such multiple access systems include code division multiple access (CDMA) systems, time division multiple access (TDMA) systems, frequency division multiple access (FDMA) systems, orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems, and single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) systems.
[004] These multiple access technologies have been adopted in several Petition 870250067526, dated 01 / 08 / 2025, page 13 / 50, telecommunications standards to provide a common protocol that allows different wireless devices to communicate at the municipal, national, regional, and even global levels. For example, a fifth-generation (5G) wireless communications technology (which may be called new radio (NR)) is envisioned to expand and support diverse use cases and applications compared to current generations of mobile networks. In one aspect, 5G communication technology may include: enhanced mobile broadband, addressing human-centric use cases for access to multimedia content, services, and data; ultra-low latency (ULL) and / or ultra-reliable low-latency (URLLC) communications with specific latency and reliability specifications; and massive machine-type communications, which may allow a very large number of connected devices and the transmission of a relatively low volume of delay-sensitive information. As demand for mobile broadband access continues to increase, however, further improvements in NR communications technology and beyond may be desirable.
[005] For example, for NR communications technology and beyond, control overhead can inhibit a desired level of speed or customization for efficient operation. Thus, improvements in wireless communication operations may be desired. SUMMARY

[023] Several aspects are now described with reference to the drawings. Petition 870250067526, dated 01 / 08 / 2025, page 18 / 50 7 / 32 In the following description, for explanatory purposes, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a complete understanding of one or more aspects. It may be evident, however, that such an aspect may be practiced (such aspects may be practiced) without these specific details. Furthermore, the term component as used herein may be one of the parts that make up a system, may be hardware, firmware and / or software stored on a computer-readable medium, and may be divided into other components.
[024] This disclosure generally relates to the reduction of control overhead in new wireless radio communication systems. Specifically, in low-latency communication systems such as LTE ULL and / or LTE URLLC, a relatively short packet can be transmitted with a small latency. For example, in LTE URLLC, a 32-byte packet can be transmitted with an end-to-end latency of 1 millisecond (ms) (e.g., between transmitter and receiver). In such communication systems, control overhead can impact latency in such a way that an increase in control overhead can correspondingly increase latency and therefore reduce communication efficiency / performance. As such, overhead reduction may be desirable in new wireless radio communication systems to reduce latency.
[025] In some legacy communication systems (e.g., LTE), with each subframe, up to two codewords (CWs) per or for each transport block (TB) can be programmed for transmission. That is, each codeword can be mapped to one TB. A codeword can be a distinct stream of data to be transmitted on a physical channel. In particular, downlink control information (DCI) may include or indicate one or more parameters related to a code and modulation scheme (MCS), a redundancy version (RV), and / or a new data indicator (NDI) in each Petition 870250067526, dated 01 / 08 / 2025, page 19 / 50 8 / 32 one of the two CWs. For example, for each CW, a 5-bit MCS indication, a 2-bit RV indication, and a 1-bit NDI indication can be accommodated or included within the DCI. Consequently, 16 bits can be used to transmit two CWs. Furthermore, in the uplink, 2 bits can be used to transmit acknowledgment (ACK) or negative acknowledgment (NACK) for each CW through each configured component carrier (CC). Therefore, applying the previous legacy transmission structure in low-latency communication systems would not be desirable, as the control overhead would remain quite high. Conversely, it would be desirable to reduce the control overhead for both uplink and downlink communication in low-latency communication systems.
[026] As such, the present aspects can provide reduced control overhead in both downlink and uplink. For example, in one aspect, a network entity can determine data transmission according to a codeword format based on at least one of a transmission time interval (TTI), or a data traffic type, or any combination thereof. The network entity can further configure the data for transmission on a communication channel according to the codeword format and proceed to transmit the data on the communication channel. Additionally, in one aspect, a user equipment (UE) can receive a transmission from the network entity on a downlink communication channel according to the codeword format, and based on whether the data has been received, can transmit at least one of an acknowledgment (ACK) or a negative acknowledgment (NACK) on an uplink communication channel. As such, the codeword format can indicate to the network entity and / or the UE an amount of overhead (e.g., MCS, RV, and / or NDI) to be included within or as part of each codeword and / or one. Petition 870250067526, dated 01 / 08 / 2025, p. 20 / 50 9 / 32 confirmation structure in an uplink.
[027] Additional features of the present aspects are described in more detail below in relation to Figures 1 to 5.
[028] It should be noted that the techniques described here can be used for various wireless communication networks, such as CDMA, TDMA, FDMA, OFDMA, SC-FDMA, and other systems. The terms system and network are often used interchangeably. A CDMA system may implement a radio technology such as CDMA2000, Universal Radio Terrestrial Access (UTRA), etc. CDMA2000 encompasses the IS-2000, IS-95, and IS-856 standards. Versions 0 and A of IS-2000 are commonly referred to as CDMA2000 IX, IX, etc. IS-856 (TIA-856) is commonly referred to as CDMA2000 IxEV-DO, High Rate Packet Data (HRPD), etc. CDMA (WCDMA) and other CDMA variants. A TDMA system may implement a radio technology such as the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM). An OFDMA system can implement a radio technology such as Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM). An OFDMA system can implement a radio technology such as Ultra Mobile Broadband (UMB), UTRA (E-UTRA), IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi), IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX), IEEE 802.20, Flash-OFDM™, etc. UTRA and E-UTRA are part of the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS). Long-Term Evolution 3GPP (LTE) and LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) are new versions of UMTS that use EUTRA. UTRA, E-UTRA, UMTS, LTE, LTE-A, and GSM are described in documents from an organization called the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). CDMA2000 and UMB are described in documents from an organization called the 3rd Generation Partnership Project 2 (3GPP2). The techniques described herein can be used for the aforementioned radio systems and technologies, as well as for other radio systems and technologies, including cellular communications (e.g., LTE) across a spectrum band. Petition 870250067526, dated 01 / 08 / 2025, page 21 / 50 10 / 32 of shared radio frequencies. The description below, however, describes an LTE / LTE-A system for example purposes, and LTE terminology is used throughout the description below, although the techniques are applicable beyond LTE / LTE-A applications (e.g., for 5G networks or other next-generation communication systems).
[029] The following description provides examples and does not limit the scope, applicability, or examples set forth in the claims. Changes may be made to the function and arrangement of the elements discussed without departing from the scope of the disclosure. Various examples may omit, replace, or add various procedures or components as appropriate. For example, the methods described may be performed in a different order than described, and various steps may be added, omitted, or combined. Furthermore, features described with respect to some examples may be combined in other examples.
[030] With reference to Figure 1, according to various aspects of the present disclosure, an example of a wireless communication network 100 may include at least one UE 110 with a modem 140 having a reception determination component 150 that determines whether an acknowledgment (ACK) or a negative ACK acknowledgment (NACK) may be transmitted in response to receiving data transmitted according to a codeword format on a downlink communication channel. Furthermore, the wireless communication network 100 may include at least one base station 105 with a modem 160 having a codeword format component 170 that determines data transmission according to a codeword format (e.g., first codeword format 174 or second codeword format 176) based on, for example, a transmission time interval (TTI) and / or data traffic type. Petition 870250067526, dated 01 / 08 / 2025, page 22 / 50 11 / 32
[031] Thus, according to the present disclosure, to reduce overhead in LTE URLLC, the codeword format component 170 can limit multiple codewords to a single codeword in accordance with the first codeword format 174. A codeword format can be a data structure having a certain overhead. That is, a single set of TB-related information including a single set of MCS, RV, and / or NDI information can be included as part of the DCI. As such, using the first codeword format 174, the control overhead can be reduced by 8 bits as a single set of MCS, RV, and / or NDI information is included as part of the codeword transmission. Furthermore, the codeword format component 170 can format and / or configure transmissions in accordance with the second codeword format 176, which particularly reduces overhead in LTE ULL.For example, the second 176-word code format can include one or two codewords. To reduce overhead by using two codewords according to the second 176-word code format, however, the 170-word code format component can transmit a shared NDI with ACK / NACK grouping (e.g., resulting in a 1-bit overhead reduction), a shared RV across both codewords (e.g., resulting in a 2-bit overhead reduction), and the same MCS for both codewords (e.g., resulting in a 5-bit overhead reduction). In some respects, the shared RV can be shared across both codewords as a result of, or based on, the use of the same NDI.
[032] The 160 modem may also include a 172 relay component, which can be configured to relay data (e.g., code words) in response to receiving at least one indication of missing data from UE 110. In some respects, the 172 relay component may be Petition 870250067526, dated 01 / 08 / 2025, page 23 / 50 12 / 32 configured to retransmit data according to the Hybrid Auto Repeat Request (HARQ). For example, in legacy LTE, when two codewords are configured, their HARQ process identifier may be the same. In some respects, due to this restriction (e.g., imposed for overhead reduction), in the event of a codeword failing, the retransmission opportunity cannot be used to send the failed codeword with another codeword with a different HARQ process identifier. Instead, only the failed codeword can be retransmitted.
[033] However, given that the HARQ downlink can be asynchronous (i.e., does not follow a specific time pattern / schedule), transmissions / retransmissions can be performed / completed more quickly via retransmission component 172. Specifically, retransmission component 172 can not only transmit / retransmit the failed codeword, but also a new codeword or any other failed codeword that has a different HARQ process identifier. Furthermore, in some respects, first codeword format 174 and / or second codeword format 176 may include one or more additional bits to indicate the HARQ process identifier per codeword. Such a configuration may apply to LTE communication systems and / or ULL communication systems.
[034] Additionally, the wireless communication network 100 may also include UE 110, which may in turn include a reception determination component 150 configured to transmit an ACK 152 or NACK 154 in response to receiving a transmission from base station 105. Specifically, in one example, UE 110 may receive a transmission from base station 105 transmitted according to the first codeword format 174. Based on whether UE 110 received the data in its entirety Petition 870250067526, dated 01 / 08 / 2025, page 24 / 50 13 / 32 (e.g., without missing packets or reception failure), UE 110 can transmit a 1-bit ACK or NACK on an uplink communication channel (e.g., per carrier).
[035] In addition, UE 110 can, through ACK / NACK component grouping 158, group ACK / NACKs over time, frequency and / or spatial domains. Transmissions over time and spatial domains can be correlated and therefore the loss caused by grouping may not be significant. Time-based grouping can be used when multiple shared physical downlink shortened-to-downlink channels (sPDSCHs) map to the same (same) physical (shortened) uplink control channel(s) PUCCH. Frequency-based grouping (e.g., different component carriers) can degrade system performance, as one or more channels may not be correlated across different carriers.
[036] Consequently, ACK / NACK grouping can be configured through ACK / NACK component grouping 158. For example, in some aspects, with a length / size of two sTTI symbols in the downlink and a length / size of two sTTI symbols in the uplink, ACK / NAK grouping can be adopted. However, there may be cases where a length / size of two sTTI symbols in the uplink coincides with an uplink length / size of 1 ms. In some cases, the sTTI in the uplink may be discarded, and the uplink control information (UCI) may be sent through the longer uplink TTI length / size. As such, ACK / NAK grouping cannot be used in such cases.
[037] In some respects, the configuration of ACK / NACK grouping may depend on the length of the sTTI. For example, the configurable ACK / NACK packet component 158 may group if a length / size of Petition 870250067526, dated 01 / 08 / 2025, page 25 / 50 14 / 32 two-symbol uplink transmission is used, but may not be grouped when a single sTTI partition length / size is used. Consequently, based on a determination via the reception determination component 150 that if UE 110 fails to receive the codeword (corresponding to a failure of one of the TBs), a 1-bit NACK may be transmitted to base station 105 as base station 105 may transmit codewords (or TBs) independently. In some respects, the aspects related to ACK / NACK grouping may apply to data received according to the first codeword format 174 and / or the second codeword format 176.
[038] The wireless communication network 100 may include one or more base stations 105, one or more UEs 110, and a core network 115. The core network 115 may provide user authentication, access authorization, tracking, Internet Protocol (IP) connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. Base stations 105 may interface with the core network 115 via backhaul links 120 (e.g., SI, etc.). Base stations 105 may perform radio configuration and programming for communication with UEs 110, or may operate under the control of a base station controller (not shown). In several examples, base stations 105 may communicate, directly or indirectly (e.g., via core network 115), with each other via backhaul links 120 (e.g., XI, etc.), which may be wired or wireless communication links.
[039] Base stations 105 can communicate wirelessly with UEs 110 through one or more base station antennas. Each of the base stations 105 can provide communication coverage for a respective geographic coverage area 130. In some examples, base stations 105 may be referred to as a base transceiver station, a base station of Petition 870250067526, dated 01 / 08 / 2025, p. 26 / 50 15 / 32 radio, an access point, an access node, a radio transceiver, a B Node, eNB), gB Node (gNB), a Household B Node, an eHousehold B Node, a repeater, or some other suitable terminology. The geographic coverage area 130 for a base station 105 may be divided into sectors or cells that constitute only a part of the coverage area (not shown). The wireless communication network 100 may include base stations 105 of different types (e.g., macro base stations or small cell base stations, described below). Additionally, the plurality of base stations 105 may operate according to different communication technologies (e.g., 5G (New Radio or NR), fourth generation (4G) / LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.) and therefore there may be overlapping geographic coverage areas 130 for different communication technologies.
[040] In some instances, the wireless communication network 100 may be or include one or any combination of communication technologies, including a new radio technology (NR) or 5G, a Long Term Evolution (LTE) or LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) or MuLTEfire technology, Wi-Fi technology, Bluetooth technology, or any other long- or short-range wireless communication technology. In LTE / LTE-A / MuLTEfire networks, the term evolved node B (eNB) may generally be used to describe base stations 105, while the term UE may generally be used to describe UEs 110. The wireless communication network 100 may be a heterogeneous technology network in which different types of eNBs provide coverage for various geographic regions. For example, each eNB or base station 105 may provide communication coverage for a macro cell, a small cell, or other cell types. The term cell is a 3GPP term that can be used to describe a base station, a carrier or component carrier associated with a base station, or a coverage area (e.g., sector). Petition 870250067526, dated 01 / 08 / 2025, page 27 / 50 16 / 32 etc.) from a carrier or base station, depending on the context.
[041] A macro cell can generally cover a relatively large geographical area (e.g., several kilometers in radius) and can allow unrestricted access by UEs 110 with service subscriptions with the network provider.
[042] A small cell may include a base station fed by relatively lower transmission, compared to a macro cell, which may operate in the same or different frequency bands (e.g., licensed, unlicensed, etc.) as macro cells. Small cells may include pico cells, femto cells, and microcells according to various examples. A pico cell, for example, may cover a small geographic area and may allow unrestricted access by UEs 110 with service subscriptions with the network provider. A femto cell may also cover a small geographic area (e.g., a home) and may provide restricted access and / or unrestricted access by UEs 110 that have an association with the femto cell (e.g., in the case of restricted access, UEs 110 in a closed subscriber group (CSG) of base station 105, which may include UEs 110 for home users and the like).A microcell can cover a larger geographic area than a pico cell and a femto cell, but smaller than a macro cell. An eNB for a macro cell can be referred to as a macro eNB. An eNB for a small cell can be referred to as a small cell eNB, pico eNB, femto eNB, or household eNB. An eNB can support one or multiple cells (e.g., two, three, four, and the like) (e.g., component carriers).
[043] The communication networks that can accommodate some of the various examples disclosed can be packet-based networks that operate according to a layered protocol stack, and the data in the user plane can be IP-based. A user-plane protocol stack (by Petition 870250067526, dated 01 / 08 / 2025, page 28 / 50 17 / 32 For example, packet data convergence protocol (PDCP), radio link control (RLC), MAC, etc.) can perform packet segmentation and reassembly to communicate through logical channels. For example, a MAC layer can perform prioritization and multiplexing of logical channels into transport channels. The MAC layer can also use hybrid automatic request / repeat (HARQ) to provide retransmission at the MAC layer to improve connection efficiency. In the control plane, the RRC protocol layer can provide the establishment, configuration, and maintenance of an RRC link between a UE 110 and the base station 105. The RRC protocol layer can also be used for core network support 115 from radio carriers to user data planes. In the physical layer (PHY), transport channels can be mapped to physical channels.
[044] UEs 110 may be dispersed throughout the wireless communication network 100, and each UE 110 may be stationary or mobile. A UE 110 may also include or be referred to by persons skilled in the art as a mobile station, a subscriber station, a mobile unit, a subscriber unit, a wireless unit, a remote unit, a mobile device, a wireless device, a wireless communications device, a remote device, a mobile subscriber station, an access terminal, a mobile terminal, a wireless terminal, a remote user agent terminal, a mobile client, a client, or some other suitable terminology.A UE 110 can be a mobile phone, a smartphone, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a wireless modem, a wireless communication device, a portable device, a tablet computer, a laptop, a cordless phone, a smartwatch, a wireless local loop station (WLL), an entertainment device, a vehicle component, a CPE, or any device capable of communicating on the wireless communication network 100. In addition. Petition 870250067526, dated 01 / 08 / 2025, page 29 / 50 18 / 32 of this, a UE 110 can be an Internet of Things (IoT) and / or machine-to-machine (M2M) type device, for example, a type of low-power, low-data-rate device (compared to a cordless phone, for example), which may in some respects communicate infrequently with the wireless communication network 100 or other UEs. A UE 1 10 may be able to communicate with various types of base stations 105 and network equipment, including macro eNBs, small cell eNBs, macro gNBs, small cell gNBs, relay base stations and the like.
[045] The UE 110 can be configured to establish one or more wireless communication links 135 with one or more base stations 105. The wireless communication links 135 shown in the wireless communication network 100 can carry uplink (UL) transmissions from a UE 110 to a base station 105 or downlink (DL) transmissions from a base station 105 to a UE 110. Downlink transmissions may also be called forward link transmissions, while uplink transmissions may also be called reverse link transmissions. Each wireless communication link 135 can include one or more carriers, wherein each carrier can be a signal consisting of multiple subcarriers (e.g., waveform signals of different frequencies) modulated according to the various radio technologies described above. Each modulated signal can be sent on a different subcarrier and can contain control information (e.g., reference signals, control channels, etc.), overhead information, user data, etc. In one aspect, 135 wireless communication links can transmit bidirectional communications using frequency-division duplex (FDD) (e.g., using paired spectrum resources) or time-division duplex (TDD) operation (e.g., using unpaired spectrum resources). Frame structures. Petition 870250067526, dated 01 / 08 / 2025, page 30 / 50 19 / 32 can be defined for FDD (e.g., type 1 frame structure) and TDD (e.g., type 2 frame structure). Furthermore, in some aspects, 135 wireless communication links can represent one or more transmission channels.
[046] In some aspects of the 100 wireless communication network, 105 base stations or 110 UEs may include multiple antennas to employ antenna diversity schemes to improve communication quality and reliability between 105 base stations and 110 UEs. Additionally or alternatively, 105 base stations or 110 UEs may utilize multiple input multiple output (MIMO) techniques that can take advantage of multipath environments to transmit multiple spatial layers carrying the same or different encoded data.
[047] The 100 wireless communication network can support multi-cell or carrier operation, a feature that may be referred to as carrier aggregation (CA) or multi-carrier operation. A carrier may also be referred to as a component carrier (CC), a layer, a channel, etc. The terms carrier, component carrier, cell, and channel may be used interchangeably here. A UE 110 can be configured with multiple downlink CCs and one or more uplink CCs for carrier aggregation. Carrier aggregation can be used with FDD and TDD component carriers. 105 base stations and UE 110s can use spectrum up to Y MHz (e.g., Y = 5, 10, 15, or 20 MHz) of bandwidth per carrier allocated in a carrier aggregation of up to a total of Yx MHz (x = number of component carriers) used for transmission in each direction. The carriers may or may not be adjacent to each other.Carrier allocation can be asymmetrical with respect to DL and UL (for example, more or fewer carriers may be allocated to DL than to UL). Petition 870250067526, dated 01 / 08 / 2025, p. 31 / 50 20 / 32 UL). Component carriers may include a primary component carrier and one or more secondary component carriers. A primary component carrier may be referred to as a primary cell (PCell) and a secondary component carrier may be referred to as a secondary cell (SCell).
[048] Wireless communications network 100 may also include base stations 105 operating in accordance with Wi-Fi technology, for example, Wi-Fi access points, communicating with UE 110 operating in accordance with Wi-Fi technology, for example, Wi-Fi stations (STAs) via communication links in an unlicensed frequency spectrum (e.g., 5 GHz). When communicating in an unlicensed frequency spectrum, STAs and APs may perform a clear channel assessment (CCA) or listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure before communicating in order to determine if the channel is available.
[049] Additionally, one or more of the 105 base stations and / or 110 UEs may operate according to an NR or 5G technology, referred to as millimeter wave (mmW or mmwave) technology. For example, mmW technology includes transmissions at mmW frequencies and / or near mmW frequencies. Extremely high frequency (EHF) is part of the radio frequency (RF) in the electromagnetic spectrum. EHF has a range of 30 GHz to 300 GHz and a wavelength between 1 millimeter and 10 millimeters. Radio waves in this band may be referred to as millimeter waves. Near mmW can extend to a frequency of 3 GHz with a wavelength of 100 millimeters. For example, the super high frequency (SHF) band extends between 3 GHz and 30 GHz and may also be called centimeter wave. Communications using the mmW and / or near mmW radio frequency band have extremely high path loss. Petition 870250067526, dated 01 / 08 / 2025, p. 32 / 50 21 / 32 high and short range. As such, 105 base stations and / or 110 UEs operating according to mmW technology can use beamforming in their transmissions to compensate for the extremely high path loss and short range.
[050] With reference to Figure 2, for example, a wireless communication method 300 in the operation of a network entity such as base station 105 according to the aspects described above to provide control overhead reduction in a new radio environment includes one or more of the actions defined herein. Blocks illustrated as having dashed lines may be optional.
[051] In block 302, method 300 can determine data transmission according to a codeword format based on at least one of a TTI, or a data traffic type, or any combination thereof. For example, in one aspect, base station 105 can execute codeword format component 170 to determine data transmission according to a codeword format (e.g., first codeword format 174 or a second codeword format 176) based on at least one of a TTI (e.g., TTI length), or a data traffic type, or any combination thereof.
[052] In some respects, the first codeword format 174 may include a single codeword having a single set of at least one of an MCS, an RV, or an NDI within DCI. Additionally, in some respects, the traffic type may correspond to URLLC (for example, in the case of the first codeword format 174).
[053] In some respects, the second 176 codeword format may include two codewords having a single MCS, a single RV, and / or a single NDI shared across the two codewords. Furthermore, the TTI may Petition 870250067526, dated 01 / 08 / 2025, p. 33 / 50 22 / 32 corresponds to an sTTI. Additionally, the traffic type may correspond to LTE ULL communications (for example, in the case of the first codeword format 176).
[054] In block 304, method 300 can configure the data for transmission on a communication channel according to the code word format. For example, in one aspect, base station 105 can execute code word format component 170 to configure the data for transmission on a communication channel according to the code word format (for example, first code word format 174 or second code word format 176).
[055] In block 306, method 300 can transmit data on the communication channel. For example, in one aspect, base station 105 can run modem 160 to transmit data on the communication channel.
[056] Furthermore, in some respects, the transmitted data may be associated with at least one codeword. Although not shown, method 300 may receive, on an uplink communication channel, NACK 154 indicating failure to receive at least one codeword, and transmit, according to codeword format (e.g., first codeword format 174 or second codeword format 176), at least one codeword and an additional codeword corresponding to a new codeword transmission or a failed codeword transmission having a distinct HARQ process identifier. In some respects, the new HARQ identifier may be included in the DCI.
[057] In some respects, configuring the data for transmission of the communication channel according to the codeword format may include determining whether the codeword format corresponds to a single codeword associated with the sTTI or two codewords, grouping the data for Petition 870250067526, dated 01 / 08 / 2025, p. 34 / 50 23 / 32 transmission based on the determination that the codeword format matches the two codewords, and abandon grouping the data for transmission based on the determination that the codeword format matches the single codeword associated with the sTTI.
[058] With reference to Figure 3, for example, a 400 wireless communication method in UE 110 operation according to the aspects described above to transmit at least one ACK or NACK in response to receiving data according to a code word format includes one or more of the actions defined herein. Blocks illustrated as having dashed lines may be optional.
[059] In block 402, method 400 can receive a transmission from a network entity on a downlink communication channel according to a codeword format, the codeword format depending on at least one of a TTI, or a data traffic type, or any combination thereof. For example, UE 110 and / or modem 140 can execute the receive determination component 150 to receive a transmission from a network entity (e.g., base station 105) on a downlink communication channel according to a codeword format (e.g., first codeword format 174 or a second codeword format 176), the codeword format depending on at least one of a TTI, or a data traffic type, or any combination thereof.
[060] In block 404, method 400 can transmit at least one of an ACK or a NACK on an uplink communication channel in response to receiving the transmission from the network entity. For example, UE 110 and / or modem 140 can execute the receive determination component 150 to transmit at least one of an ACK 152 or a NACK 154 on a channel Petition 870250067526, dated 01 / 08 / 2025, page 35 / 50 24 / 32 uplink communication in response to receiving the transmission from the network entity.
[061] In some respects, the second codeword format may include two codewords. Although not shown, method 400 may, through ACK / NACK 158 component grouping, detect a single NDI across the two codewords and determine, through ACK / NACK 158 component grouping, the failure to receive at least one TB associated with at least one of the codewords. Furthermore, transmitting at least one of ACK 152 or NACK 154 may include transmitting NACK 154 based on the determination of a failure to receive at least one transport block associated with at least one of the codewords.
[062] In some respects, though not shown, method 400 can determine, through the transmission size / length determinant 160, whether a first TTI length or a second TTI length should be used in transmission on the uplink communication channel. In some respects, transmitting at least one of ACK 152 or NACK 154 may include transmitting at least one of ACK 152 or NACK 154 according to ACK / NACK grouping based on a determination that the first TTI length should be used in transmission on the uplink communication channel, the first TTI length corresponding to two symbols, and omitting to transmit at least one of ACK 152 or NACK 154 according to ACK / NACK grouping based on a determination that the second TTI length should be used in transmission on the uplink communication channel, the second TTI length corresponding to a single sTTI partition. In some respects, ACK / NACK grouping can be used when a 1 ms TTI / partition and a two-symbol TTI / partition collide on the uplink.
[063] With reference to Figure 4, an example of implementation of Petition 870250067526, dated 01 / 08 / 2025, p. 36 / 50 25 / 32 UE 110 may include a variety of components, some of which have already been described above, but including components such as one or more processors 412 and memory 416 and transceiver 402 communicating via one or more buses 444, which may work in conjunction with modem 140 and reception determination component 150 to enable one or more of the functions described herein related to the transmission of ACKs / NACKs based on data reception according to a codeword format. In some respects, modem 414 may be the same as or similar to modem 414.
[064] In one aspect, one or more 412 processors may include a 414 modem that uses one or more modem processors. The various functions related to the feature identification component 150 may be included in the 140 modem and / or 412 processors and, in one aspect, may be performed by a single processor, while in other aspects, different functions may be performed by a combination of two or more different processors.
