Provisions of this application include at least part of the following content. RANDOM ACCESS PROCEDURE
[0081] A terminal device can establish a connection with a cell by initiating a random access procedure and obtaining uplink synchronization information. The random access procedure can be triggered in a plurality of ways. For example, the random access procedure can be triggered by a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) order, and a network device can instruct, using the order, the terminal device to restart random access. As another example, the random access procedure can be triggered by a media access control (MAC) sublayer. In this case, the terminal device can select a preamble itself to initiate random access. As another example, the random access procedure can be triggered by a higher layer, for example, initial access, RRC connection re-establishment, and handover transfer.
[0082] Random access can include contention-free random access and contention-free random access (containment-free random access channel, CFRA).
[0083] Random access by contention may include a four-step random access procedure and a two-step random access procedure. As shown in Figure 2, the four-step random access procedure may include steps S210 through S240. Petition 870250083218, dated 09 / 16 / 2025, page 28 / 115 22 / 44
[0084] In step S210, a terminal device transmits a random access request to a network device, and the random access request may include a random access preamble. The random access request may also be referred to as a first message or message 1 (Msg1) in the random access procedure.
[0085] In step S220, after detecting the random access preamble transmitted by the terminal device, the network device transmits a random access response (RAR) to the terminal device. A RAR message may also be referred to as a second message or a message 2 (Msg2) in the random access procedure.
[0086] In some embodiments, the RAR may include a TAC field to indicate uplink synchronization information used between the terminal device and the network device. Thus, in an initial access procedure, the terminal device may obtain an initial TA value from the RAR message.
[0087] In step S230, the terminal device transmits a message 3 (Msg3) to the network device, where message 3 can be used to notify the network device about an event that triggers the random access procedure. For example, if the event is an initial random access procedure, a terminal device identity and an establishment cause are carried in message 3; if the event is RRC reestablishment, a connected state terminal device identity and an establishment cause are carried. Petition 870250083218, dated 09 / 16 / 2025, page 29 / 115 23 / 44 are carried in message 3.
[0088] In the S240 step, the network device transmits a message 4 (Msg4) to the terminal device, where message 4 can be used for conflict resolution. Therefore, message 4 can also be referred to as a contention resolution message.
[0089] For contention-free random access, the random access procedure may include step S210 and step S220. Additionally, for contention-free random access, a message 0, such as a PDCCH order, must be sent before message 1. UPWARD LINK SYNCHRONIZATION
[0090] Uplink synchronization refers to a process in which uplink signals from terminal devices located in different locations within a service cell and using the same slot simultaneously reach a receiving antenna of a network device; that is, signals from different terminal devices reach the receiving antenna of the network device synchronously in the same slot. The goal of uplink synchronization is to reduce multiple access interference on the uplink and multipath interference between terminal devices in a service cell.
[0091] In an uplink synchronization process, a terminal device can perform uplink synchronization with a network device based on uplink synchronization information corresponding to the network device. Uplink synchronization information may include, for example, timing advance (TA). Petition 870250083218, dated 09 / 16 / 2025, page 30 / 115 24 / 44 TIMING ADVANCE (TA)
[0092] TA is generally used for uplink transmission and can mean that a system frame in which a terminal device transmits uplink data must be a specific time ahead of a corresponding downlink frame. For example, timing refers to a time by which a terminal device performs the transmission before a downlink reference that is the first path (i.e., the first symbol of a slot in which a channel is located) of a downlink channel received by the terminal device. Figure 3 shows a relationship between an uplink frame and a downlink frame. With reference to Figure 3, a terminal device operating in single-TRP (sTRP) mode is used as an example. The terminal device transmits an uplink channel or signal at an earlier time, by a specific timing advance (TA), relative to a reference point that is a downlink receive time point of the terminal device.
[0093] A carrier aggregation scenario is used as an example. The terminal device can support different carriers (also referred to as “server cells”). Different carriers can have different TAs. Therefore, a concept of a timing advance group (TA group, TAG) is introduced. Generally, a TAG can include TAs from one or more server cells.
[0094] In some implementations, TA can be adjusted based on an absolute TA value (also referred to as "absolute TA"). The network device can Petition 870250083218, dated 09 / 16 / 2025, page 31 / 115 25 / 44 directly provide an absolute TA using an absolute MAC CE or a payload of a random access response (MAC RAR).
[0095] In some scenarios, absolute TA and the TA acquisition method described above occur in a random access procedure. Uplink Synchronization in the Multi-TRP Scenario
[0096] A multi-TRP scenario can be a scenario in which a service cell configures a plurality of TRPs for an endpoint device.
[0097] Up to R17, for a service cell configured with a plurality of TRPs, a time difference between uplink signal transmissions from a terminal device to the TRPs cannot be greater than the length of a CP (cyclic prefix), i.e., the same TA is applied for transmissions from the terminal device to the TRPs.
[0098] In the discussion about MIMO in R18, to allow relatively flexible distances between a terminal device and TRPs, a difference between uplink TAs for transmissions between the terminal device and the TRPs can exceed one CP, i.e., different TAs can be applied for transmissions from the terminal device to different TRPs, and can belong to different TAGs.
[0099] As mentioned above, in a random access procedure, the TA can be obtained from a RAR message. In a case where different TAs are applied for transmissions from the terminal device to different Petition 870250083218, dated 09 / 16 / 2025, page 32 / 115 26 / 44 Absolute TRPs and TAs for transmissions between the terminal device and the TRPs can be obtained using a CFRA procedure triggered by a PDCCH order.
[00100] For example, after receiving the PDCCH order, the terminal device may transmit a preamble on an indicated physical random access channel (PRACH) resource based on the PRACH resource and on a dedicated random access resource, such as a dedicated preamble or a related SSB (or may be referred to as a synchronization signal block), which are indicated in the PDCCH order. After receiving the preamble, a base station will return a message, which may include a RAR unit. The RAR unit may include an absolute TA that is for transmission from the terminal device to the base station and estimated based on the received preamble.
[00101] In a multi-TRP scenario, determining the resources corresponding to different TRPs is an urgent problem to be solved.
[00102] In some cases, a TRP may be associated with an SSB, for example, a terminal device may determine a corresponding TRP based on a received SSB.
[00103] Therefore, to solve the aforementioned problem, in embodiments of this application, first information can be used to indicate a resource (i.e., a first resource) associated with an SSB (i.e., a first SSB), so that a resource corresponding to a TRP associated with the first SSB can be determined, which helps the terminal device to determine resources corresponding to different TRPs.
[00104] Figure 4 is a schematic flowchart of a wireless communication method according to a modality. Petition 870250083218, dated 09 / 16 / 2025, page 33 / 115 27 / 44 of this request.
[00105] With reference to Figure 4, method 400 may include step S410.
[00106] In step S410, a terminal device receives the first information transmitted by a network device.
[00107] The terminal device and the network device can be, for example, a terminal device 120 and a network device 110 (for example, a network device 110 in Figure 1A, a satellite 110a in Figure 1B, and a base station 110b in Figure 1C) shown in Figure 1.
[00108] The initial information can be used to indicate a first resource, and the first resource can be associated with a first SSB. As described above, if the first resource associated with the first SSB is determined, the first resource will be determined as a resource corresponding to a TRP associated with the first SSB.
[00109] In a current service cell of a terminal device, a plurality of SSBs may be associated with the terminal device.
[00110] For example, the SSBs associated with the terminal device may include a broadcast SSB for an initial carrier bandwidth portion (BWP) in the service cell, i.e., a cell defining synchronization signal block (SSB-defining cell, CD-SSB for short). In NR, a service cell may include a plurality of BWPs. The initial BWP may be a BWP used for initial access by the terminal device.
[00111] For another example, the SSB associated with Petition 870250083218, dated 09 / 16 / 2025, page 34 / 115 28 / 44 terminal device may include other SSBs configured for the terminal device in the service cell. The other SSBs mentioned in this document may be SSBs associated with an additional (or incremental) physical cell identifier (Physical Cell ID, PCI).
[00112] Consequently, in a current terminal device service cell, there may be a plurality of TRPs associated with the terminal device, i.e., a multi-TRP scenario. The TRPs associated with the terminal device may include a service TRP and may additionally include an additional TRP. The service TRP may be associated with the CD-SSB mentioned above (namely, a second SSB), and the additional TRP may be associated with the first SSB. In other words, the first SSB may be SSBs in the service cell, except for the second SSB, namely, the other SSBs described above.
[00113] In one implementation, the first SSB can be one of the other SSBs described above, that is, each of the other SSBs described above can be configured with a respective resource. If there are N other SSBs in total, the resources are configured respectively for the N SSBs, and thus it is necessary to reserve N resources. Furthermore, when a resource associated with the first SSB is indicated using the first information, at least log2N bits (bit) need to be reserved for the first information.
[00114] If N is relatively large, according to the method mentioned, relatively high resource overheads and signaling overheads carrying the initial information may occur. In another implementation, the Petition 870250083218, dated 09 / 16 / 2025, page 35 / 115 29 / 44 The first SSB can include a plurality of SSBs in the other SSBs described above, that is, the same resource can be configured for a plurality of SSBs, thus facilitating the reduction of resource overhead and signaling overhead that carries the first information.
[00115] In practice, a beam can be activated by activating a terminal control interface (TCI) state, so that an SSB referenced by the beam can be implicitly activated; for example, the SSB could be the other SSBs described above. However, only one SSB can be activated by activating the TCI state at any given time; that is, at any given time, only one of the plurality of SSBs, except the second SSB in a current service cell of the terminal device, is generally in an active state. The plurality of SSBs in the current service cell, except the second SSB, are associated with an additional TRP. Similarly, at any given time, only one additional TRP in a plurality of additional TRPs configured for the terminal device in the current service cell is in an active state (the TRP may also be referred to as an active TRP).
[00116] For these reasons, the first SSB can include all SSBs except the second SSB in the current service cell; that is, the same resource can be configured for all SSBs configured for the terminal device in the current service cell, except the second SSB, thus further facilitating the reduction of resource overhead and signaling overhead that carry the first information. For example, a number of reserved resources can be reduced to one, and a number of bits. Petition 870250083218, dated 09 / 16 / 2025, page 36 / 115 The 30 / 44 reserved signaling bits that carry the first message can be reduced to 1 bit, thus greatly reducing signaling overhead.
[00117] In addition to the first SSB, the terminal device is usually required to configure a resource associated with the second SSB. In one implementation, a second resource can be indicated using the first information, and the second resource can be associated with the second SSB. Indicating the first and second resources using the same information is beneficial for reducing signaling and is easy to implement.
[00118] The first information can be used to indicate the first resource or the second resource using a generic identifier or a signaling bit. For example, the first information can be used to indicate both the first and second resources using a bit. In one example, when the first information is 0, this indicates the first resource; when the first information is 1, this indicates the second resource. In another example, when the first information is 1, this indicates the first resource; when the first information is 0, this indicates the second resource. It should be noted that the preceding examples are provided by way of example only, and are not limited to the present application.
[00119] In one implementation, a mapping relationship between the first information and the first resource and the second resource can be set up using RRC signaling.
[00120] In one implementation, the first and second features mentioned above can be radio features. Petition 870250083218, dated 09 / 16 / 2025, page 37 / 115 31 / 44 random access (PRACH resource). In other words, the first resource could be a random access radio resource associated with an additional TRP, and the second resource could be a random access radio resource associated with a service TRP.
[00121] In one implementation, the first resource and the second resource can be used for uplink synchronization of the terminal device in a service cell. For example, the first resource can be used for uplink synchronization between the terminal device and a TRP that transmits the first SSB in the server cell. As another example, the second resource can be used for uplink synchronization between the terminal device and a TRP that transmits the second SSB in the service cell. The service cell mentioned in this document can be the terminal device's current service cell.
[00122] The first SSB may be associated with the additional TRP, and the second SSB may be associated with the service TRP. To be specific, the first resource may be used for synchronization uplink between the terminal device and an additional TRP configured in an existing service cell, and the second resource may be used for synchronization uplink between the terminal device and a service TRP in the existing service cell.
[00123] The initial information can be carried in a plurality of signaling types. In one implementation, the initial information can be carried in a physical downlink control channel order.
[00124] The following text introduces the method of Petition 870250083218, dated 09 / 16 / 2025, page 38 / 115 32 / 44 wireless communications provided in the embodiments of this application, using an example in which the first feature and the second feature are used for uplink synchronization of the terminal device.
[00125] At the RAN1#112 meeting, RAN1 reached the following conclusion.
[00126] The following working assumption is confirmed.
[00127] For multi-TRP operation between cells based on multi-DCI with two TA enhancements, a PRACH configuration is supported for each additional configured PCI; and the additional PRACH configuration can be used in a random access channel (RACH) procedure triggered by a PDCCH order for the corresponding additional configured PCI.
[00128] In RAN1#112bis, RAN1 draws the following conclusion.
[00129] For multi-TRP operation based on multi-DCI between cells with two TA enhancement, indication of which PRACH configuration should be used in the RACH procedure in the PDCCH order is supported.
[00130] It was also suggested at the meeting that further discussions would be held on: whether an additional PCI or a generic identifier is indicated in the PDCCH order; and the detail of the indication in the PDCCH order in terms of whether there should be support for PRACH triggered for an inactive additional PCI.
[00131] Based on this, each of the associated TRPs Petition 870250083218, dated 09 / 16 / 2025, page 39 / 115 33 / 44 to different additional PCIs can be configured with a respective PRACH feature, for example, the configuration can be carried over in the RRC signaling.
[00132] A TRP associated with an additional PCI may also be referred to as an additional TRP. In an implementation, each additional TRP may be indicated using an additional PCI associated with the additional TRP, for example, it may be indicated using an additional PCI index (additionalPCIIndex) associated with the additional TRP. According to a protocol, the additional PCI index may be greater than or equal to 1 and less than or equal to 7 (i.e., 7 >= additionalPCIIndex >= 1). In other words, an additional number of TRPs may range from 1 to 7.
[00133] In addition, according to the protocol, a PRACH resource is also configured for the service TRP (namely, a TRP not associated with additionalPCIIndex).
[00134] In one implementation, additionalPCIIndex can be used to indicate the two mentioned types of PRACH resources (a resource associated with the service TRP and resources associated with the additional TRPs), where the parameter corresponding to the service TRP can be set to 0. In this way, after receiving a resource indication, the terminal device can learn which PRACH resource is used to perform a random access procedure in order to obtain uplink synchronization for the corresponding TRP.
[00135] In an implementation, the resources used for additional TRP and service TRP can be indicated in PDCCH order.
[00136] As described above, the quantity of Petition 870250083218, dated 09 / 16 / 2025, page 40 / 115 34 / 44 Additional TRPs can range from 1 to 7, meaning a maximum of seven PRACH resources must be configured. If the PRACH resources corresponding to the service TRP and the additional TRP are indicated in PDCCH order, at least 3 bits must be reserved in the PDCCH order to identify the PRACH resources.
[00137] In some cases, different TRPs may be associated with different SSBs. Therefore, the terminal device may determine a TRP based on a received SSB.
[00138] A TRP associated with an SSB broadcast (which may be referred to as the second SSB) in an initial BWP may be the service TRP mentioned above. The SSB broadcast in the initial BWP mentioned in this document may be a CDSSB.
[00139] In addition, the terminal device is usually configured with other SSBs for broadcasting different additional PCIs. The other SSBs described above are associated with different additional PCIs, and different additional PCIs may be associated with the plurality of additional TRPs mentioned above. Therefore, the other SSBs may be associated with the plurality of additional TRPs.
[00140] Based on the mapping relationship between an SSB and a TRP, in an implementation, a resource associated with a TRP corresponding to an SSB can be determined based on the indication of a resource associated with the SSB. If each TRP is configured with a respective PRACH resource according to the previous method, that is, each SSB configured for a terminal device in a current service cell is configured with a respective PRACH resource, a signal of at least 3 bits is required to indicate the respective resources corresponding to the SSBs. In the previous way, there is Petition 870250083218, dated 09 / 16 / 2025, page 41 / 115 35 / 44 resource overloads and relatively high signaling overloads.
[00141] In embodiments of the present application, in SSBs configured for a terminal device in a server cell, a PRACH resource is configured for all SSBs except the second SSB, such that, in the signaling that carries a first message, a bit can be used to distinguish between a second resource associated with the second SSB and a first resource associated with a first SSB.
[00142] In other words, a PRACH resource is configured for all additional TRPs of a server cell, and this PRACH resource is used only for one active additional TRP. Thus, in the signaling that carries the first message, for example, in a PDCCH order, a bit can be used to indicate whether a PRACH resource corresponding to a service TRP or a PRACH resource corresponding to an active additional TRP is specified in the PDCCH order.
[00143] According to this method, the number of PRACH resources configured for the additional TRPs can be reduced from a maximum of seven to one, and the signaling in the PDCCH order is also reduced from three bits to one bit, which reduces the amount of resources and signaling overhead indicating the resources.
[00144] The method embodiments of this application are described above in detail with reference to Figures 1 through 4. The apparatus embodiments of this application are described below in detail with reference to Figures 5 through 7.
