Description
METHOD FOR STABILIZING NON-WOVEN FIBERS AND REUSABLE MOISTURE-ABSORBING ARTICLES
[001] The present invention relates to a method of stabilizing nonwoven fibers and reusable articles that absorb moisture. BACKGROUND
[002] Disposable absorbent articles, such as those designed for urinary incontinence or menstrual fluid absorption, are widely used but present environmental challenges due to their single-use nature. On the other hand, reusable absorbent products, while more environmentally friendly, are complex to manufacture and expensive for consumers compared to their disposable counterparts, particularly in the early stages of production.
[003] Worldwide, the absorbent hygiene industry faces a major challenge due to impending regulatory bans on single-use products containing plastic polymers. Current disposable hygiene products for adults contain plastic polymers.
[004] Manufacturers of single-use products are investigating the use of natural fibers in their products. However, natural fibers provide much less surface area for moisture to attach to, so they are not as effective as synthetic fibers in terms of absorption. One solution may be the recycling of synthetic fibers, which requires the collection of used hygiene products from the market, which can be extremely difficult, if not impossible.
[005] Another way to potentially comply with the impending regulations would be to create nonwoven products that can be washed and reused. However, to date, manufacturers of single-use products have failed to create a viable reusable alternative because nonwoven fibers are so unstable that simple Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, page 6 / 103 2 / 61 mind disintegrates when washed or cleaned.
[006] Although reusable hygiene products exist, they are currently not economically viable to manufacture on a large scale. They are simply too expensive, due to the extensive manual labor required to produce them and the prohibitive cost of raw materials (knitted and woven articles are substantially more expensive than non-woven materials). Compromising product performance to reduce manufacturing costs is undesirable, as poorly performing products can generate more waste and be more expensive for end users in the long run. OBJECTIVE OF THE INVENTION
[007] It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a method of stabilizing nonwoven fibers that overcomes or at least mitigates some of the disadvantages described above, or that at least offers the public a useful choice.
[008] Additionally, or alternatively, it is an object of the present invention to provide a reusable moisture-absorbing article manufactured by means of stabilizing nonwoven fibers, which overcomes or at least mitigates some of the disadvantages described above, or which at least offers the public a useful choice. [00208] Figure 11B shows an assembled view of the article in Figure 11A. DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[00209] The present invention provides a reusable moisture-absorbing article that is designed to be washable and, preferably, printable, non-fraying, and dimensionally stable. The article is manufactured by stabilizing the nonwoven fabric material using a stabilizing material that, in turn, is highly absorbent and possesses rapid capillarity and moisture retention capacity. This makes it ideal for absorbing exudates from the human body, such as menstrual fluid and urinary incontinence.
[00210] Reference is now made to the accompanying drawings, in which Figures 1A-1D show a nonwoven material 110 that is to be stabilized using a stabilizing material 120 according to the claimed invention. The nonwoven material 110 comprises or is in the form of a plurality of nonwoven fibers. The stabilizing material 120 is applied to at least part or all of the nonwoven material 110. The nonwoven fibers 110 to which the stabilizing material 120 is applied are then bonded to the stabilizing material 120 by adhesive and / or thermal bonding. Such union stabilizes at least part or all of the nonwoven material 110. Non-limiting examples of possible nonwoven fibers are synthetic polymers, such as, but not limited to, polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), etc., bicomponent fibers, natural fibers (e.g., wood pulp, cotton, bamboo, etc.), artificial fibers (e.g., viscose, Lyocell, PLA, cellulose acetate) or a combination thereof.
[00211] As shown, nonwoven material 110 can be a layer of nonwoven material. Thus, the same ref number Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, page 28 / 103 Reference 110 was used to refer to nonwoven material and nonwoven layer. Nonwoven material 110 can be a nonwoven fabric or a nonwoven textile article.
[00212] The thermal bonding process may involve melting at least some or all of the nonwoven fibers at a temperature that correlates with a melting point of the fibers to be melted / bonded and / or a melting point of the stabilizing material. In this way, the fibers and / or the stabilizing material can melt, and this melting can cause the fibers to bond / fuse together to form a nonwoven material of stable construction. Due to the melting of the fibers and the fusion of the fibers during thermal bonding, even those parts of the nonwoven fibers that are not covered by the stabilizing layer become a stable construction. By stable construction, it is understood that the bonded nonwoven fibers will be fused or bonded in such a way that they do not disintegrate or easily fall apart when washed or cleaned, so that the nonwoven fibers can be reused even after washing or cleaning. It is preferred that thermal bonding occur at a temperature between 70 degrees Celsius and 240 degrees Celsius. This temperature range corresponds to the melting point of most, if not all, possible types of fibers in the nonwoven material 110. In some embodiments, thermal bonding may occur in a temperature range between 100 degrees Celsius and 240 degrees Celsius.
[00213] As shown, the stabilizing material 120 can be formed as a stabilizing layer. Thus, the same reference number 120 was used to refer to both the stabilizing material and the stabilizing layer. The stabilizing layer 120 can be a membrane or a film. The stabilizing layer 120 can have a thickness based on the type of nonwoven material and the melting point of the nonwoven material. The layer of this Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, page 29 / 103 25 / 61 Stabilization layer 120 can have a thickness between 0.005 mm and 0.5 mm. Stabilization layer 120 can be a breathable layer. Stabilization layer 120 can be a full layer (i.e., completely covering the nonwoven layer) or a partial layer (i.e., partially covering the nonwoven layer) or a structured layer (i.e., having an opening portion 121 that does not cover the nonwoven layer). Figure 1A shows an example where stabilization layer 120 is a full layer configured to completely cover nonwoven layer 110. Figure 1B shows an example where stabilization layer 110 is a structured layer configured to cover the nonwoven layer except for the opening portion 121. In this example in Figure 1B, stabilization layer 121 covers the nonwoven layer at or near the perimeter of nonwoven layer 110. The stabilizing layer 120 can be a layer of polyurethane (PU) material. However, it is possible that the stabilizing layer 120 could be a layer of polyethylene (PE) material, a layer of polylactic acid (PLA) material, or many other suitable layers of textile adhesive material.
[00214] The union can occur in a standardized way.
[00215] The nonwoven layer 110 and / or the stabilizing layer 120 can have any suitable shape or size.
[00216] The stabilizing material may be an adhesive material, preferably a glue (e.g., a spray or a roll-on glue) or a polyurethane (PU) adhesive. However, it is possible for the stabilizing material to be a polyethylene (PE) adhesive, a polylactic acid (PLA) adhesive, or many other suitable textile adhesives.
[00217] In one example, where the bonding is solely by adhesive bonding, the nonwoven fiber material 110 can be stabilized by adhesive bonding to the stabilizing material using an adhesive glue in Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, p. 30 / 103 26 / 61 spray or applied by roller.
[00218] Similarly, in an example where the bonding is solely by thermal bonding, a polyurethane (PU) adhesive 123 or similar (e.g., a polyethylene (PE) adhesive, a polylactic acid (PLA) adhesive, or other suitable textile adhesive layer) can be applied to the stabilizing layer 120 to fuse to the nonwoven layer 110 by means of heat. More specifically, the nonwoven fibers of the nonwoven layer 120 can be stabilized by fusing the nonwoven fibers to a complete, partial, or structured breathable stabilizing material 120, using thermal bonding (thermo-bonding) at high temperatures ranging from 70 degrees Celsius to 240 degrees Celsius. The polyurethane (PU) films can have various thicknesses, preferably ranging from 0.005 mm to 0.5 mm, depending on the type of nonwoven and the melting point of the fibers of the nonwoven material 110.Instead of polyurethane films, it is possible to use polyethylene (PE) films, polylactic acid (PLA) films, or other suitable textile adhesive material films.
[00219] The use of polyurethane (PU), polyethylene (PE), or polylactic acid (PLA) in the stabilization layer 120 and / or as an adhesive is advantageous because it allows the manufacture of sanitary / hygienic products comprising a washable and reusable nonwoven material. Similarly, this allows the manufacture of sanitary / hygienic products comprising any number or combination of nonwoven and knitted or woven material that are washable and reusable. Many other suitable adhesives or textile materials that provide the same or similar functionality can be used in the stabilization layer 120, providing the same or similar advantages as polyurethane (PU), polyethylene (PE), or polylactic acid (PLA).
[00220] The addition of a mesh or fabric layer is optional, but can be advantageous to further increase and control this Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, p. 31 / 103 27 / 61 The durability of nonwoven fibers allows for enhanced repeated use or washing or cleaning before the nonwoven fibers disintegrate.
[00221] The method of the present invention described above can be used to construct / manufacture a reusable moisture-absorbing article of or for use with an undergarment, to be positioned adjacent to a user's body and to absorb (and preferably also retain) the user's body moisture. Some non-limiting examples of such an article are a diaper, a sanitary napkin, an incontinence pad, an incontinence bag, women's incontinence underwear, men's incontinence underwear, a sanitary pad, etc. Therefore, the reusable moisture-retaining article can be a reusable sanitary article.
[00222] Such an article may comprise an inner layer which may be the same as the nonwoven material 110 described above and the stabilizing material 120, as described above, forming a stabilizing layer. The stabilizing material 120 may be applied to at least part or all of the inner layer, such that the stabilizing material is applied to at least some or all of the nonwoven fibers.
[00223] The nonwoven fibers 110 to which the stabilizing material 120 is applied are then bonded to the stabilizing material 120 by adhesive and / or thermal bonding, thus stabilizing at least part or all of the nonwoven material and forming the reusable moisture-absorbing article 100.
[00224] In some embodiments, the material / stabilizing layer 120 is moisture resistant or leak-proof. Example 1
[00225] An example of a reusable item is shown in Figures 2A-2C. Figure 2A shows an external view of a reusable moisture-absorbing article 200 according to the present invention. Fi Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, p. 32 / 103 Figure 2B shows an internal view of the item in Figure 2A. Figure 2C shows an exploded view of the item in Figure 2A and Figure 2B.
[00226] Article 200 is for use with an undergarment, to be positioned adjacent to the user's body and to receive moisture from the user's body. The user may be a person wearing the article. Article 200 may be used as a menstrual fluid absorbent article (also called a feminine hygiene article or menstrual hygiene article, sanitary napkin, feminine panty liner or menstrual pad). Article 200 may also be suitable for absorbing any other moisture from the user's body. Article 200 may also be suitable for absorbing moisture during cases of mild to moderate incontinence, and may thus be used as an incontinence absorbent.
[00227] Article 200 comprises a nonwoven layer in the form of an inner layer 210 (first inner layer 210) for moisture absorption. The nonwoven layer may be the same as the nonwoven layer 110 described above and therefore need not be described again in detail.
[00228] Article 200 comprises a second inner layer 230 and a stabilizing layer 240. The stabilizing layer 240 may be the same as or similar to the stabilizing layer 120 or the stabilizing material 120 described above and therefore need not be explained again in detail. As shown in Figure 2B, at least a portion 232 of the second inner layer 230 is exposed to define an inner region of Article 200. The inner region of the Article is configured to be located adjacent to the user's body and facing the user's body so as to be in bodily contact with the user to directly receive moisture from the user's body. Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, page 33 / 103 29 / 61
[00229] Portion 232 may optionally be covered by a removable material, for example, a removable film or similar, which, when removed, exposes portion 232. This helps to prevent contamination of portion 232, which is the inner layer of the article configured to be in bodily contact with the user.
[00230] Article 200 comprises multiple layers, as shown in Figure 2C. These multilayers are at least one outermost layer 250 (which may also be referred to as outer cover 250), one outermost layer 220 (which may also be referred to as outermost layer 220), an insert comprising a first inner layer 210, a second inner layer 230, and a stabilizing layer 240. There is also an innermost layer 260 (which may also be referred to as inner layer 260). These layers are assembled together to form Article 200. As mentioned above, the first inner layer 210 is a nonwoven layer (preferably the same as the nonwoven layer 110 described above). It functions as an inner nonwoven core of Article 200. The thickness (g / m2) of this first inner layer 210 may depend on the required absorption levels.
[00231] When the layers are assembled, at least one portion 232 of the second inner layer is exposed or configured to be exposed to define an inner layer of an article. The inner layer (i.e., the portion that is exposed or configured to be exposed) is configured to be located adjacent to the user's body, to be in bodily contact with the user and to directly absorb moisture from the user's body. If article 200 is used as a menstrual fluid and / or urine absorbent article, the moisture from the user's body that is absorbed through the exposed portion 232 of the insert 232 will be menstrual fluid / discharge and / or urine.
[00232] At least part of the moisture absorbed by the second ca Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, page 34 / 103 30 / 61 inner layer 230 can be transferred to the first inner layer 210. By having at least two inner layers 210, 230, the durability of the article 200 is increased. More specifically, the presence of the second inner layer 230 can increase and control the stability of the nonwoven fibers of the first inner layer 210, allowing for more repeated use or washings before the nonwoven fibers gradually disintegrate. The presence of two inner layers thus helps improve the durability of the article 200. Optionally, there may be more than two inner layers.
[00233] As shown in Figure 2C, the innermost layer 260 may be located externally to the second inner layer 230. At least part of the stabilizing layer 240 may be positioned or interspersed between the second inner layer 230 and the innermost layer 260. More specifically, at least part of the stabilizing layer 240 may be positioned or interspersed between a surface of the second inner layer 230, configured to face the innermost layer 260, and a surface of the innermost layer 260, configured to face the second inner layer 230, thus interconnecting the second inner layer 230 and the innermost layer 260.
[00234] The stabilization layer 240 may be the same as or similar to the stabilization layer 120 described above, both in terms of construction material and functionality.
[00235] The innermost layer 260 may be the innermost layer of article 200. The innermost layer 260 may be a nonwoven layer or a nonwoven textile article. Thus, in terms of construction, the innermost layer 260 may be similar to the nonwoven layer 110 described above. The nonwoven fibers of the innermost layer 260 may be stabilized using the stabilizing layer 240 in the same or similar way as described previously with re Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, page 35 / 103 31 / 61 Reference to Figures 1A-1D. The innermost layer 260 may have the same shape and size as the stabilizing layer 240.
[00236] The second inner layer 230 and the innermost layer 260 can be joined (e.g., by adhesive and / or thermal bonding). A compressive force (i.e., compressive force) can be applied to article 200 to facilitate such joining. This eliminates or at least reduces the need for stitching and / or other complex layer joining processes, thus significantly reducing the manufacturing process and costs. Furthermore, with such a joining technique, complex machinery will not be required to manufacture article 200.
[00237] Returning to the embodiment of Figure 2C, the innermost layer 260 can define an opening 265 through which the portion 232 of the second inner layer 230 is exposed or configured to be exposed. As shown, a substantial part of the second inner layer is exposed or configured to be exposed, forming the inner layer of the article 200. In this example shown, the entire inner layer 230 is exposed or configured to be exposed to form the inner layer of the article 200, except for its edges. Thus, on its surface configured to face the user's body, only the edges or perimeter of the second inner layer 230 can be unexposed or configured not to be exposed. The innermost layer 260 and the stabilizing layer 240 can only cover the perimeter of the second inner layer 230 on its surface configured to face the user's body.If the second inner layer 230 is nonwoven, the nonwoven fibers of the second inner layer 230 may still be stabilized using the stabilizing layer 240 and by adhesive and / or thermal bonding, similarly to that described above with reference to Figures 1A-1D.
[00238] The innermost layer 260 may comprise a central portion 261 extending longitudinally from one end. Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, page 36 / 103 32 / 61 upper end 204 of article 200 to a lower end 206 of the article. The innermost layer 260 may comprise a first flap 262 and a second flap 263, each located between the upper end 204 and the lower end 206 of article 200. The first flap 262 may extend outward from the central portion 261 of the innermost layer 260 in a first direction, and the second flap 263 may extend from the central portion 261 of the innermost layer 260 in a second direction that is opposite to the first direction. The opening 265 may be located in the central portion.
[00239] In a possible embodiment where there is no second inner layer 230, the stabilizing layer 240 may be directly interposed between the first inner layer 210 and the innermost layer 260 in the same or similar manner as it would be interposed between the second inner layer 230 and the innermost layer 260. In this case, a portion of the first inner layer 210 would be exposed in a manner similar to how portion 232 of the second inner layer is exposed, the exposed portion of the first inner layer being therefore the innermost layer of the article 200. In this case, the nonwoven fibers of the first inner layer 210 could still be stabilized using the stabilizing layer 240 and by adhesive and / or thermal bonding in the same or similar manner as described above with reference to Figures 1A-1D.
[00240] The outer cover 250 is formed or assembled in such a way as to define the outermost layer of the article.
[00241] The outermost layer 220 is positioned or sandwiched between the first inner layer 210 and the outer cover 250, thus interconnecting the first inner layer 210 and the outer cover 250. More specifically, the outermost layer 220 is positioned or sandwiched between a surface of the first inner layer 210 configured to face the outer cover 250. Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, page 37 / 103 33 / 61 and an outer cover surface 250 configured to face the first inner layer, thus interconnecting the first inner layer 210 and the outer cover 250.
[00242] The stabilizing layer 240 can be joined at least to the second inner layer 240, the innermost layer 260 and the outer cover 250.
[00243] In this example, as the first inner layer 210 is sandwiched between other layers, as shown in Figure 2C, the fibers of this nonwoven layer cannot easily disintegrate during washing and / or cleaning. It is possible that the stabilizing layer 240 also bonds to all layers. For example, the outermost layer 220, the first inner layer 210, and the second inner layer 230 may have different sizes or shapes suitable to ensure that the stabilizing layer 240 bonds to one or more, or all of these layers.
[00244] In some embodiments, the outermost layer 220 may be a bonding layer, so that the first inner layer 210 and the outer cover 250 are joined together using the outermost layer 220. The first inner layer 210 and the outer cover 250 may be joined by adhesive and / or thermal bonding. A compressive force (i.e., compressive force) may be applied to facilitate such joining. This eliminates or at least reduces the need for stitching and / or other complex layer joining processes, thus significantly reducing the manufacturing process and costs. Furthermore, with such a joining technique, complex machinery will not be required to manufacture the article 200.
[00245] The outermost layer 220 may be coextensive with the first inner layer 210 and / or with the outer cover 250. The outermost layer 220 may be or comprise a bonding adhesive. In some embodiments, the outermost layer 220 may be fused Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, page 38 / 103 34 / 61 of a waterproof textile article. The outermost layer 220 may be a moisture-resistant or leak-proof layer, thus functioning as a leak-proof barrier. In some embodiments, a moisture-resistant solution is applied to the outermost layer 220. The outermost layer 220 may be coated with a moisture-resistant solution. By acting as a leak-proof or moisture-resistant barrier, the outermost layer provides the waterproof properties of the article 200, thus providing maximum protection to the user. More specifically, this helps prevent any moisture absorbed in the first inner layer 210 from leaking to the outer covering 250.
[00246] In some embodiments, the outermost layer 220 may also be made of the same materials as the stabilizing layer 240, in which case the stabilizing layer 240 will be a primary stabilizing layer and the outermost layer 220 will be a secondary stabilizing layer. Since the first inner layer 210 is a nonwoven layer, such a secondary stabilizing layer may further stabilize the nonwoven fibers of the first inner layer 210. This additional stabilization may occur in the same or similar manner as described above with reference to Figures 1A-1D.
[00247] Article 200 can be configured to be positioned adjacent to the user's pudendal region and to receive and absorb moisture from the user's pudendal region. Article 200 can be, or also be used, to receive or absorb urinary incontinence. The received and absorbed moisture can optionally be retained by Article 200.
[00248] The outer cover 250 is most preferably a non-woven layer. In this case, the non-woven fibers of the outer cover 250 can still be stabilized by adhesive bonding and / or Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, page 39 / 103 35 / 61 thermal, similarly to that described previously with reference to Figures 1A-1D. A portion of the stabilizing layer 240 configured to join the outermost layer can be used to stabilize at least the outer cover portion in the same or similar manner as described above with reference to Figures 1A-1D. Similarly, if the outermost layer 220 is a secondary stabilizing layer (as described above), then in that case, the nonwoven fibers of the first inner layer 210 and the outer layer 250 will be further stabilized by this outermost layer 220 in the same or similar manner as described above with reference to Figures 1A-1D. Melting of the nonwoven fibers of the outer cover 250 during thermal bonding can also cause stabilization of the outer cover fibers in the same or similar manner as already described above with reference to Figures 1A-1D.
[00249] As already explained, the first inner layer 210 is a non-woven layer. However, the second inner layer 230 may be a non-woven, woven or knitted moisture-wicking layer. In some embodiments, the second inner layer 230 may be a moisture-retaining textile ensemble, as described in PCT Publication number WO2020121176A1, the full content of which is incorporated herein by reference.
[00250] The first flap 262 and the second flap 263 of the innermost layer 260 may each comprise one or more fasteners 267 (for example, buttons, snap fasteners, clips, hook and loop fasteners or Velcro® type fasteners) for releaseable attachment to the undergarment, such as underwear. For example, the fasteners on the first and second flaps may be attached, forming a loop around the crotch area of the underwear and releasingly attaching to the undergarment. Alternatively, the undergarment may have one or more fasteners suitable for attaching Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, page 40 / 103 36 / 61 if to fasteners 267.
[00251] The outer cover 250 and the innermost layer 260 may be identical in shape and / or size, except that the central portion of the innermost layer 260 comprises an opening 265, whereas there is no such opening in the outer cover 250. Thus, the outer cover 250 may comprise a central portion 251 extending longitudinally from an upper end 204 of the article to a lower end 206 of the article 200. The outer cover 250 may comprise a first flap 252 and a second flap 253, each located between the upper end 204 and the lower end 206 of the article 200. The first flap 252 may extend outward from the central portion 251 of the outer cover 250 in a first direction, and the second flap 253 may extend from the central portion 251 of the outer layer 250 in a second direction that is opposite to the first. direction.
[00252] Additionally or alternatively, the outer covering 250 may comprise similar fastening elements 268 (for example, buttons, snap fasteners, clasps, hook and loop fasteners or Velcro® type fasteners) for releasable attachment to the undergarment, such as underwear. When both the outer covering and the innermost layer comprise fasteners, the fasteners 267 and 268 may be suitable for attaching to each other. Alternatively, the undergarment may have one or more fasteners suitable for attaching to the fasteners 268.
[00253] The outer cover 250 and the innermost layer 260 may extend longitudinally from an upper end 204 of the article 200 to a lower end 206 of the article 200. The first and second inner layers 210 and 230, and the outermost layer 220, may each be smaller than the central portion 251 of the outer cover 250 and / or the central portion 261 of the Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, p. 41 / 103 37 / 61 innermost layer 260. In some embodiments, the first and second inner layers 210 and 230 and the outermost layer 220 may each have the same size as the central portion 251 of the outer covering 250 and / or the central portion 261 of the innermost layer 260. In some embodiments, the outermost layer 220 is larger (preferably slightly larger) than the first and second inner layers 210 and 230. Such configurations may allow the stabilizing layer 240 to seal and / or bond, or at least come into direct contact with the outermost layer. Different dimensions / sizes and / or shapes of the layers are possible to allow the stabilizing layer to come into direct contact and / or seal and / or bond with the corresponding layers. In some embodiments, all layers 250, 220, 210, 230, 240 and 260 may extend longitudinally from the upper end 204 of article 200 to the lower end 206 of article 200.
[00254] In one embodiment, article 200 may have an elongated shape, with each of the layers extending longitudinally from the upper end 204 to the lower end 206 and without any flaps. Such article may optionally comprise a handle or similar fastening means for releaseable attachment to the undergarment.
[00255] In one modality, the 250 external cover may be optional. However, having the external cover is more preferred, due to the advantageous characteristics of the 250 external cover already explained above.
[00256] The adhesive and / or thermal bonding of the layers of article 200 can be achieved by the same method described above with reference to Figures 1A-1D. Similarly, the fibers of the nonwoven layers of article 200 are stabilized by the stabilizing layers in the same way as described above and also with reference to Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, page 42 / 103 38 / 61 Figures 1A-1D, therefore it is not necessary to describe them again. Example 2
[00257] Figures 3A-3C show an article 300 according to another preferred embodiment of the present invention.
[00258] Article 300 is for use with underwear to be positioned adjacent to a user's body and to receive moisture from the user's body. The user may be a person wearing the article. Article 300 may be used as an absorbent and insertable article for urinary incontinence (also called a male protector, male guard, male pouch, or incontinence pouch). Article 300 may also be suitable for absorbing any other moisture emanating from the user's body. In some embodiments, the article is an incontinence article for female use, configured to be positioned adjacent to a person's genitals to receive menstrual fluid or other fluid emanating from the person's genital area, including urine.
[00259] Article 300 of this example is similar in almost all respects to Article 200 described above, and the differences can be identified by comparing Figure 2A with Figure 3A, Figure 2B with Figure 3B, and Figure 2C with Figure 3C. In the figures relating to Article 300, the features that are similar to those shown in the figures relating to Article 200 are identified with the same reference number plus 100. Most of the description of Article 200, in the preferred embodiment above, applies equally to Article 300 and therefore does not need to be described again in detail. In general, only the main differences will be discussed.
[00260] A key difference lies in the shape of the layers, all appropriately shaped to function as an absorbent and insertable device for urinary incontinence. Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, p. 43 / 103 39 / 61
[00261] The innermost layer 360 is in the form of a strip. A stabilizing layer 340 is also in the form of a strip. The stabilizing layer 340 may be an adhesive frame or a stabilized adhesive frame. The stabilizing layer 340 may be positioned or sandwiched between the second inner layer 330 and the innermost layer 360. Similarly, the outermost layer 320 may be positioned or sandwiched between the first inner layer 310 and the outer cover 350.
[00262] The innermost layer 360 may be made of the same textile articles as the outer cover 350. The innermost layer and / or the outer cover 350 may be made of nonwoven textile articles or of nonwoven material containing a plurality of nonwoven fibers. Such nonwoven fibers are stabilized by adhesive and / or thermal bonding in a manner similar to that described above.
[00263] The first and second inner layers 310 and 330 may be of the same type or of a similar type to that already described above for article 200. Similarly, the outermost layer 320 may also be a stabilizing layer (secondary stabilizing layer), similar to that of Example 1. Any layers described as optional in article 200 above may also be optional in article 300.
[00264] In some embodiments, the outer cover 350 may optionally come with seams designed to give the outer cover 350 a specific shape. In this case, a seam bonding adhesive layer 354 may optionally be provided to extend along and cover such seams, providing additional protection. The seam bonding adhesive layer 354 may be a seam sealant or a strip, and may be or function as a heat-fused adhesive strip. The seam bonding adhesive layer 354 Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, page 44 / 103 40 / 61 can be made from the same material as the first stabilizing layer 320. It should be noted that seams may not be present in the outer covering 350, and alternative methods to seams (e.g., creases) may be used to create the article's shape 300. However, even if present, these are pre-formed seams and not seams configured to join multiple layers together. The multiple layers can be joined by applying adhesive and / or by thermal bonding, preferably by applying compressive force as described above. A thermofusion or ultrasonic fusion seal is preferable to seams.
[00265] With the exception of the differences mentioned above and the differences that are evident from the figures, all other characteristics of Article 300, including the properties of its various layers, may be the same as those described above with reference to Article 200. Example 3
[00266] Figures 4A-4C show an article 400 according to another preferred embodiment of the present invention. Article 400 in this example is a baby diaper or training pants for toilet training.
[00267] Article 400 is for use with underwear to be positioned adjacent to a user's body and to receive moisture from the user's body. The user may be a person wearing the item.
[00268] Article 400 of this example is similar in almost all respects to Article 200 described above, and the differences can be identified by comparing Figure 2A with Figure 4A, Figure 2B with Figure 4B, and Figure 2C with Figure 4C. In the figures relating to Article 400, the features that are similar to those shown in the figures relating to Article 200 are identified with the same reference number plus 200. Most of the description Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, p. 45 / 103 41 / 61 The interpretation of Article 200, in the preferred modality above, applies equally to Article 400 and therefore does not need to be described again in detail. In general, only the main differences will be discussed.
[00269] A key difference lies in the shape of the layers, all molded appropriately to allow the 400 article to function like a diaper.
[00270] Another main difference is the presence of additional layers, namely, a bonding layer 470 and an innermost layer 480 (also called the innermost layer). The innermost layer may be in the form of protective strips 480A, 480B, which are anti-splash strips. The strips 480A, 480B may be non-woven or may be knitted. The bonding layer 470 is also in the form of strips 470A, 470B. The bonding layer 470 may be positioned or interspersed between the innermost layer 460 and the innermost layer 480, thus bonding the innermost layer 460 and the innermost layer 480. This bonding may occur by thermal and / or adhesive bonding, applied in the same or similar manner as described above. In some embodiments, the outermost layer 420 may also be a stabilizing layer (secondary stabilizing layer), similar to that in Example 1.In some embodiments, the bonding layer 470 may be made of the same material as the stabilizing layer 440 and the outermost layer 420, in which case each of the three layers 420, 440 and 480 may function as a stabilizing layer, to stabilize any nonwoven fibers that are bonded to these layers in the same or similar manner as described above with reference to Figures 1A-1D.
[00271] The innermost layer 460 may be made of the same textile articles as the outer cover 450. The innermost layer 460 and / or the outer cover 450 may be made of nonwoven textile articles or of nonwoven material containing a plurality of fibers. Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, page 46 / 103 42 / 61 nonwovens. These nonwoven fibers are stabilized by adhesive and / or thermal bonding in a manner similar to that described above.
[00272] Similar to the outermost layer 220, the outermost layer 420 can be moisture resistant. In some embodiments, a moisture-resistant solution is applied to the outermost layer 420. The outermost layer 420 can be coated with a moisture-resistant solution.
[00273] The first and second inner layers 410 and 430 may be of the same type or a similar type to that already described above for Article 200. The outermost layer 420 and the bonding layer 470 may be of the same or similar material to that of the stabilizing layer 440. The stabilizing layer 440 may be of the same material as the stabilizing layer 240, as described above for Article 200. The layers described as options in Article 200 above may also be optional in Article 400.
[00274] The innermost layer 480 may comprise one or more fasteners 467. Similarly, the outer layer 460 may also comprise one or more fasteners 468. The fasteners 467 and 468 may allow releasable attachment to the undergarment, similar to that described above for article 200. The fastener in this embodiment is most preferably Velcro® (also known as a hook and loop fastener). However, many other alternative fasteners are possible, such as, but not limited to, buttons, snap fasteners and clips.
[00275] With the exception of the differences mentioned above and the differences that are evident from the figures, all other characteristics of Article 400, including the properties of its various layers, may be the same as those described above with reference to Article 200. Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, p. 47 / 103 43 / 61 Example 4
[00276] Figures 5A-5C show an article 500 according to another preferred embodiment of the present invention.
[00277] Article 500 is for use with an undergarment, to be positioned adjacent to a user's body and to receive moisture from the user's body. The user may be a person wearing the article. Article 500 may be used as a menstrual fluid absorbent article (also called a feminine hygiene article or menstrual hygiene article, feminine panty liner or menstrual pad). Article 500 may also be suitable for absorbing any other moisture from the user's body.
[00278] Article 500 is designed for moderate to severe incontinence.
[00279] Article 500 of this example is similar in almost all respects to Article 200 described above, and the differences can be identified by comparing Figure 2A with Figure 5A, Figure 2B with Figure 5B, and Figure 2C with Figure 5C. In the figures relating to Article 500, the features that are similar to those shown in the figures relating to Article 200 are identified with the same reference number plus 300. Most of the description of Article 200, in the preferred embodiment above, applies equally to Article 500 and therefore does not need to be described again in detail. In general, only the main differences will be discussed.
[00280] A key difference lies in the shape of the layers, which are more suitable for use in situations where incontinence is moderate to severe. However, the outermost layer 520 can have many other suitable shapes.
[00281] Another main difference is the presence of additional layers, namely a 570 bonding layer and an inner layer. Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, page 48 / 103 44 / 61 580 (also called the innermost layer). The innermost layer 580 is in the form of protective strips 580A, 580B, which are anti-splash strips. The strips 580A, 580B may be non-woven or knitted. The bonding layer 570 is also in the form of strips 570A, 570B. The bonding layer 570 may be positioned or interspersed between the innermost layer 560 and the innermost layer 580, thus bonding the innermost layer 560 and the innermost layer 580. This bonding may occur by thermal and / or adhesive bonding, applied in the same or similar manner as described above. In some embodiments, the outermost layer 520 may also be a stabilizing layer (secondary stabilizing layer), similar to that of Example 1.In some embodiments, the bonding layer 570 may be made of the same material as the stabilizing layer 540 and the outermost layer 520, in which case each of the three layers 520, 540 and 570 may function as a stabilizing layer, to stabilize any nonwoven fibers that are bonded to these layers in the same manner as described above with reference to Figures 1A-1D.
[00282] Similar to the outermost layer 220, the outermost layer 520 can be moisture resistant. In some embodiments, a moisture-resistant solution is applied to the outermost layer 520. The outermost layer 520 can be coated with a moisture-resistant solution.
[00283] The innermost layer 560 may be made of the same textile articles as the outer cover 550. The innermost layer 560 and / or the outer cover 550 may be made of nonwoven textile articles or of nonwoven material containing a plurality of nonwoven fibers. Such nonwoven fibers are stabilized by adhesive and / or thermal bonding in a manner similar to or the same as described above.
[00284] The first and second inner layers 510 and 530 can Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, page 49 / 103 45 / 61 being of the same type or of a similar type to that already described above for Article 200. The outermost layer 520 and the bonding layer 570 may be of the same or similar material to that of the stabilizing layer 540. The stabilizing layer 540 may be of the same material as the stabilizing layer 240, as described above for Article 200. The layers described as optional in Article 200 above may also be optional in Article 500.
[00285] The innermost layer 580 may comprise one or more fasteners 567. Similarly, the outer layer 560 may also comprise one or more fasteners 568. The fasteners 567 and 568 may allow releasable attachment to the undergarment, similar to that described above for article 200. The fastener in this embodiment is most preferably Velcro® (also known as a hook and loop fastener). However, many other alternative fasteners are possible, such as, but not limited to, buttons, snap fasteners and clips.
[00286] With the exception of the differences mentioned above and the differences that are evident from the figures, all other characteristics of Article 500, including the properties of its various layers, may be the same as those described above with reference to Article 200. Example 5
[00287] Figures 6A-6C show an article 600 according to another preferred embodiment of the present invention.
[00288] Article 600 is for use with underwear to be positioned adjacent to a user's body and to receive moisture from the user's body. The user may be a person wearing the article. Article 600 may be used as an absorbent and insertable article for urinary incontinence (also called a male protector, male guard, male pouch or pouch for incontinence). Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, pp. 50 / 103 46 / 61 continence). The purpose is similar to that of Article 300 in Example 2 above, except that Article 600 is designed for heavy incontinence. Article 600 may also be suitable for absorbing any other moisture from the user's body. In some embodiments, Article 600 is an incontinence article for female use, configured to be positioned adjacent to a person's genitals to receive menstrual fluid or other fluid from the person's genital area, including urine.
[00289] Article 600 in this example is similar in almost all respects to Article 300 or Article 200 described above, and the differences can be identified by comparing Figure 2A or 3A with Figure 6B, Figure 2B or 3B with Figure 6A, and Figure 2C or 3C with Figure 6C. In the figures relating to Article 600, the features that are similar to those shown in the figures relating to Article 200 are identified with the same reference number plus 400. Similarly, the features of Article 600 that are similar to those shown in the figures relating to Article 300 are identified with the same reference number plus 300. Most of the description of Articles 200 or 300, in the preferred embodiment above, applies equally to Article 600 and therefore does not need to be described again in detail. Only the main differences will be discussed.
[00290] A key difference lies in the shape of the layers, all appropriately shaped to function as an absorbent material for urinary incontinence in situations of severe incontinence.
[00291] Another main difference is the presence of additional layers, namely, a bonding layer 670 and an innermost layer 680 (also called the innermost layer). The innermost layer 680 is in the form of protective strips 680A, 680B, 680C, Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, page 51 / 103 47 / 61 680 D which are anti-splash strips. Strips 680A, 680B, 680C, 680D can be non-woven or knitted. The bonding layer 670 is also in the form of strips 670A, 670B. The bonding layer 670 can be positioned or interspersed between the innermost layer 660 and the innermost layer 680, thus bonding the innermost layer 660 and the innermost layer 680. This bonding can occur by thermal and / or adhesive bonding, as described above. In some embodiments, the outermost layer 620 can also be a stabilizing layer (secondary stabilizing layer), similar to that in Example 1.In some embodiments, the bonding layer 670 may be made of the same material as the stabilizing layer 640 and the outermost layer 620, in which case each of the three layers 620, 540 and 670 may function as a stabilizing layer, to stabilize any nonwoven fibers that are bonded to these layers in the same or similar manner as described above with reference to Figures 1A-1D.
[00292] The innermost layer 660 may be made of the same textile articles as the outer cover 650. The innermost layer 660 and / or the outer cover 650 may be made of nonwoven textile articles or of nonwoven material containing a plurality of nonwoven fibers. Such nonwoven fibers are stabilized by adhesive and / or thermal bonding in a manner similar to or the same as described above.
[00293] Similar to the outermost layer 220, the outermost layer 620 can be moisture resistant. In some embodiments, a moisture-resistant solution is applied to the outermost layer 620. The outermost layer 620 can be coated with a moisture-resistant solution.
[00294] Another point of difference is that the 640 stabilization layer is also in the form of a plurality of 640A, 640B strips, Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, p. 52 / 103 48 / 61 640C and 640D, to match the shape of the 660A, 660B, 660C and 660D strips of the innermost layer.
[00295] Apart from any visual differences, the first and second inner layers 610 and 630 may be of the same type or of a similar type to that already described above for article 200. The layers described as optional in article 200 above may also be optional in article 600. An optional bottom strip 635 may be present, as shown in Figure 6C, adapted to be joined to the underside of the surface of the second inner layer 630 that faces away from the first inner layer 610. The joining may be effected by means of a joining strip 636 configured to be interposed between the second inner layer 630 and the bottom strip 635. The bottom strip 635 may be a non-woven strip, in which case the joining allows for the stabilization of the non-woven fibers of the bottom strip 653. Alternatively, the bottom strip 635 may be a plain or knitted fabric, in which case the fourth stabilizing strip 636 may still act as an adhesive strip. The presence of this arrangement with the lower strip 635 can help prevent inadvertent moisture transfer from the bottom of the article. In some embodiments, the bonding strip 636 may be made of the same material as the stabilizing layer 640, to stabilize any nonwoven fibers bonded to that strip in the same manner described above with reference to Figures 1A-1D.
[00296] Except for the differences mentioned above and the differences that are evident from the figures, all other characteristics of Article 500, including the properties of its various layers, may be the same as those described above with reference to Article 200 or 300. Example 6
[00297] Figures 7A-7C show an article 700 according to another preferred embodiment of the present invention. Article 700, in this Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, pp. 53 / 103 49 / 61, for example, is an adult diaper or absorbent pad. It can be a unisex adult diaper or absorbent pad.
[00298] Article 700 is for use with underwear to be positioned adjacent to a user's body and to receive moisture from the user's body. The user may be an adult wearing the article.
[00299] Article 700 in this example is similar in almost all respects to Article 200 described above, and the differences can be identified by comparing Figure 2A with Figure 7B, Figure 2B with Figure 7B, and Figure 2C with Figure 7C. In the figures relating to Article 700, the features that are similar to those shown in the figures relating to Article 200 are identified with the same reference number plus 500. Most of the description of Article 200, in the preferred embodiment above, applies equally to Article 700 and therefore does not need to be described again in detail. In general, only the main differences will be discussed.
[00300] A key difference lies in the shape of the layers, all appropriately shaped to allow item 700 to function as an adult diaper, a sanitary pad, or a unisex adult diaper / pad.
[00301] Another main difference is the presence of additional layers, namely, a bonding layer 770 and an innermost layer 780 (also called the innermost layer). The innermost layer may be in the form of protective strips 780A, 780B, which are anti-splash strips. The 780A, 780B strips may be non-woven or may be knitted. The bonding layer 470 is also in the form of 770A, 770B strips. The bonding layer 770 may be positioned or interspersed between the innermost layer 760 and the innermost layer 780, thus bonding the innermost layer 760 and the innermost layer 780. This bonding may occur by thermal and / or adhesive bonding. Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, pp. 54 / 103 50 / 61 in the same way as described above. In some embodiments, the outermost layer 720 may also be a stabilizing layer (secondary stabilizing layer), similar to that of Example 1. In some embodiments, the bonding layer 770 may be made of the same material as the stabilizing layer 740 and the outermost layer 720, in which case each of the three layers 720, 740 and 770 may function as a stabilizing layer, to stabilize any nonwoven fibers that are bonded to these layers in the same way as described above with reference to Figures 1A-1D.
[00302] Another difference is that the innermost layer 760 is also in the form of strips 760A and 760B, each extending from the upper end to the lower end of article 700. In addition, the outermost layer 740 is also in the form of strips 740A and 740B, each extending from the upper end to the lower end of article 700.
[00303] The innermost layer 760 may be made of the same textile articles as the outer cover 750. The innermost layer 760 and / or the outer cover 750 may be made of nonwoven textile articles or of nonwoven material containing a plurality of nonwoven fibers. Such nonwoven fibers are stabilized by adhesive and / or thermal bonding in a manner similar to or the same as described above.
[00304] Similar to the outermost layer 220, the outermost layer 620 can be moisture resistant. In some embodiments, a moisture-resistant solution is applied to the outermost layer 620. The outermost layer 620 can be coated with a moisture-resistant solution.
[00305] The first and second inner layers 710 and 730 and the stabilizing layers may be of the same type or of a similar type. Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, pp. 55 / 103 51 / 61 as described above for article 200. The layers described as optional in article 200 above may also be optional in article 700.
[00306] The outer cover 750 may be in the form of a plurality of panels, namely, an upper panel 750A which is proximal to the upper end of the article 700, a lower panel 750B which is proximal to the lower end of the article 700 and an intermediate panel 750C which extends from the upper panel 750A to the lower panel 750B, or vice versa. The intermediate panel 750C may be loosely attached to one or both of the upper 750A and lower 750B panels using one or more suitable fasteners 781A, 781B. The fastener in this embodiment is most preferably Velcro® (also known as hook and loop fastener). However, many other alternative fasteners are possible, such as, but not limited to, buttons, snap fasteners and clips.
[00307] The outward-facing surface of the outer cover 750 may comprise fasteners 782A, 782B. Fasteners 782A, 782B may allow releasable attachment to the undergarment, similarly to that described above for article 200. The fastener in this embodiment is most preferably Velcro® (also known as a hook and loop fastener). However, many other alternative fasteners are possible, such as, but not limited to, buttons, snap fasteners and clips.
[00308] An optional bottom strip 735 may be present, as shown in Figure 7C, adapted to be joined to the underside of the surface of the second inner layer 730 which faces away from the first inner layer 710. The joining may be effected by means of a bottom joining strip 736, configured to be interposed between the second inner layer 730 and the bottom strip 635. The bottom strip 635 may be a non-woven strip, in which case the joining permits Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, pp. 56 / 103 52 / 61 stabilizing the nonwoven fibers of the bottom strip. Alternatively, the bottom strip 735 may be a plain or knitted fabric, in which case the bottom bonding strip 736 may still act as an adhesive strip. The presence of this arrangement with the bottom strip 735 may help to prevent inadvertent moisture transfer from the bottom of the article 700. In some embodiments, the bottom bonding strip 736 may be made of the same material as the stabilizing layer 740, to stabilize any nonwoven fibers bonded to that strip in the same manner described above with reference to Figures 1A-1D.
[00309] Similarly, an optional top strip 737 may be present, as shown in Figure 7C, adapted to be joined to the upper surface of the second inner layer 730 which faces away from the first inner layer 710. The joining may be effected by means of a top joining strip 738, configured to be interposed between the second inner layer 730 and the top strip 737. The top strip 635 may be a non-woven strip, in which case the joining allows for the stabilization of the non-woven fibers of the top strip. Alternatively, the top strip 735 may be a plain or knitted fabric, in which case the top joining strip 738 may still act as an adhesive strip. The presence of this arrangement with the top strip 737 may help to prevent inadvertent moisture transfer from the upper part of the article 700.In some embodiments, the top bonding strip 738 may be made of the same material as the stabilizing layer 740, to stabilize any nonwoven fibers bonded to that strip in the same manner described above with reference to Figures 1A-1D.
[00310] With the exception of the differences mentioned above and the differences that are evident from the figures, all other characteristics of article 700, including the properties of its various layers, may be the same as those described above with reference to article 700. Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, p. 57 / 103 53 / 61 go 200. Example 7
[00311] Figures 8A-8D show an article 800 according to another preferred embodiment of the present invention. Article 200, in this example, is a women's undergarment 5 or a part of a women's undergarment 5.
[00312] Article 800 in this example is similar in almost all respects to Article 200 described above, and the differences can be identified by comparing Figure 2A with Figure 8C and Figure 2B with Figure 8D. In Figures 8A-8D, the features similar to those shown in the figures relating to Article 200 are identified with the same reference number plus 600. Most of the description of Article 200, in the preferred embodiment above, applies equally to Article 800 and therefore does not need to be described again in detail. In general, only the main differences will be discussed.
[00313] Here, the outer cover 850 is a women's underwear panel and may be made of knitted textile articles, preferably highly elastic to provide comfort.
[00314] The outermost layer 820 is positioned or sandwiched between the first inner layer 810 and the outer cover 850, thus interconnecting the first inner layer 810 and the outer cover 850.
[00315] The first inner layer 810 and the outer cover 860 are joined together using the outermost layer 820.
[00316] The innermost layer 860 is in the form of strips 860A, 860B. A stabilizing layer 840 is also in the form of strips 840A, 840B. Strip 840A may be positioned or interspersed between the second inner layer 830 and the strip of the innermost layer 860A. Similarly, strip 840B may be positioned or Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, pp. 58 / 103 54 / 61 is interleaved between the second inner layer 830 and the innermost layer strip 860B. Therefore, the stabilizing strips 840A, 840B can interconnect the second inner layer 830 and the innermost strips 860A, 860B.
[00317] The innermost strips 860A, 860B may be made of the same textile articles as the outer cover 850. Alternatively, the innermost strips may be made of non-woven textile articles.
[00318] The innermost strips 860A, 860B and the stabilizing strips 840A, 840B may extend laterally along a first edge of the second inner layer 830 that is proximal to the upper end 804 of the article 800 and a second edge that is proximal to the lower end 806 of the article 800. More specifically, the innermost strip 860A and the stabilizing strip 840A may extend laterally along a first edge of the second inner layer 830 that is proximal to the upper end 804 of the article 800. Similarly, the innermost strip 860B and the stabilizing strip 840B may extend laterally along a second edge of the second inner layer 860B that is proximal to the lower end 806 of the article 800.
[00319] The bonding layer 870 may be in the form of two strips 870A, 870B. The third stabilizing strips 870A, 870B may be adhesive strips. The bonding strips 870A, 870B may be bonded (by adhesive and / or heat) to two longitudinal sides of the second inner layer 830 and also to the innermost strips 860A and 860B. In some embodiments, the outermost layer 820 may also be a stabilizing layer (secondary stabilizing layer), similar to that of Example 1. In some embodiments, the bonding layer 870 may be made of the same material as the stabilizing layer. Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, pp. 59 / 103 55 / 61 840 and the outermost layer 820, in which case each of the three layers 820, 840 and 870 can function as a stabilizing layer, to stabilize any nonwoven fibers that are bonded to these layers in the same way as described previously with reference to Figures 1A-1D.
[00320] Except for the differences mentioned above and any other differences that are evident from the figures, all other characteristics of Article 800, including the properties of its various layers, may be the same as those described above with reference to Article 200. Example 8
[00321] Figures 9A-9B show front and rear views of a men's underwear 10 comprising article 900 according to a further embodiment of the present invention, equal to or similar to article 300 of Example 2.
[00322] Article 900 in this example is similar in almost all respects to Article 300 described above, and the differences can be identified by comparing Figure 9D with Figure 3C. In the figures relating to Article 900, the features that are similar to those shown in the figures relating to Article 300 are identified with the same reference number, plus 600. Most of the description of Article 300, in the preferred embodiment above, applies equally to Article 900 and therefore does not need to be described again in detail. In general, only the main differences will be discussed.
[00323] Figure 9C shows a plan view of underwear 10, showing article 900 forming part of men's underwear. Figure 12D shows an exploded view, showing article 900 forming part of men's underwear. The outer cover 950 can be attached to a men's underwear panel 990A and can Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, pp. 60 / 103 56 / 61 being made of knitted textile articles, preferably highly elastic for comfort. Alternatively, the outer cover 950 may be made of non-woven fibers, similar to the outer cover 450. The remaining underwear panels 990A, 990B, 990C are also shown. These panels may also be made of knitted textile articles and are preferably highly elastic. An underwear waistband 995 is also shown. These underwear parts may be pre-attached to the underwear panel using an adhesive strip 960 (which may be similar to the stabilizing layer 940), before or after the joining of the various layers of the article 900 by applying compressive force.
[00324] Except for the differences mentioned above and any other differences that are evident from the figures, all other characteristics of Article 900, including the properties of its various layers, may be the same as those described above with reference to Article 300. Example 9
[00325] Figure 10A shows an exploded view of an article 1000 according to a further preferred embodiment of the present invention.
[00326] Article 1000 is for use with underwear to be positioned adjacent to a user's breast and to receive moisture from the user's breast. Item 1000 can be used as a breast protector. Article 1000 may also be suitable for absorbing any other moisture emanating from the user's body.
[00327] Article 1000 of this example is similar in almost all respects to Article 200 described above, and the differences can be identified by comparing Figure 2C with Figure 10A. In the figure relating to Article 1000, the characteristics that are similar to those shown in the figures relating to Article 200 are identified with the Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, pp. 61 / 103 57 / 61 same reference number, plus 800. Most of the description of Article 200, in the preferred form above, applies equally to Article 1000 and therefore does not need to be described again in detail. In general, only the main differences will be discussed.
[00328] A key difference lies in the shape of the layers, all appropriately shaped to function as a breast protector.
[00329] Similar to the outermost layer 220, the outermost layer 1020 can be moisture resistant. In some embodiments, a moisture-resistant solution is applied to the outermost layer 1020. The outermost layer 1020 can be coated with a moisture-resistant solution.
[00330] The innermost layer 1060 may be made of the same textile articles as the outer cover 1050. The innermost layer 1060 and / or the outer cover 1050 may be made of nonwoven textile articles or of nonwoven material containing a plurality of nonwoven fibers. Such nonwoven fibers are stabilized by adhesive and / or thermal bonding in a manner similar to or the same as described above.
[00331] The first and second inner layers 1010 and 1030 may be of the same type or a similar type to that already described above for Article 200. The outermost layer 1020 may be of the same material or a similar material to that of the stabilizing layer 1040. The stabilizing layer 1040 may be of the same material as the stabilizing layer 240, as described above for Article 200. Any layers described as optional in Article 200 above may also be optional in Article 1000.
[00332] With the exception of the differences mentioned above and any other differences that are evident from the figures, all the Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, pp. 62 / 103 58 / 61 other features of Article 1000, including the properties of its various layers, may be the same as those described above with reference to Article 200. Example 10
[00333] Figure 11A shows an exploded view of an article 1100 according to a further preferred embodiment of the present invention. Figure 11B shows an assembled view of article 1100.
[00334] Article 1100 is for use as a sanitary protector, surface protector or absorbent for incontinence. Some non-limiting examples of Article 1100 may be: bed protector, seat protector, car seat protector, baby changing mat, baby crib protector or leak / urinary incontinence protector.
[00335] Article 1100 in this example is similar in almost all respects to Article 200 described above, and the differences can be identified by comparing Figure 2C with Figure 11A. In the figure relating to Article 1100, the features that are similar to those shown in the figures relating to Article 200 are identified with the same reference number, plus 900. Most of the description of Article 200, in the preferred embodiment above, applies equally to Article 1100 and therefore does not need to be described again in detail. In general, only the main differences will be discussed.
[00336] A key difference lies in the shape of the layers, all appropriately shaped to function as a sanitary protector, surface protector or absorbent for incontinence.
[00337] Similar to the outermost layer 220, the outermost layer 1120 can be moisture-resistant. In some embodiments, a moisture-resistant solution is applied to the outermost layer 1120. The outermost layer 1120 can be coated. Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, pp. 63 / 103 59 / 61 with a moisture-resistant solution. In this example, it can be observed that the outermost layer 1120 is the outermost layer of article 1100. In some embodiments, there may be a separate outer cover as an outermost layer, adjacent to the outermost layer 1120. In this case, the outer cover may be of non-woven material similar to the outer cover 250.
[00338] The innermost layer 1160 may be made of nonwoven textile articles or of nonwoven material containing a plurality of nonwoven fibers. Such nonwoven fibers are stabilized by adhesive bonding (e.g., bonding glue) and / or thermal bonding in a manner similar to or the same as described above. The innermost layer 1060 may be in the form of strips, as shown in Figure 11A.
[00339] The inner layer 1110 may be of the same type or of a similar type to that already described above for the inner layer 210 of article 200. Although only one inner layer 1110, in the form of a non-woven absorbent core, is described, there may be two or more such non-woven layers. The outermost layer 1020 may be of the same material or of a similar material to that of the stabilizing layer 1040. A second inner layer 1130 is also described. The second inner layer may be a quick-drying textile article. The second inner layer may be a quick-drying textile article with quilted stitching to reduce friction.
[00340] Except for the differences mentioned above and any other differences that are evident from the figures, all other characteristics of Article 1000, including the properties of its various layers, may be the same as those described above with reference to Article 200.
[00341] Obviously, it will be understood that, although the foregoing has been provided by way of illustrative example of the present invention, all modifications and variations that would be evident to a Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, pp. 64 / 103 60 / 61 persons skilled in the art are considered to be covered by the broad scope and reach of the various aspects of the invention as described and / or defined in the claims.
[00342] From the foregoing, it can be understood that the present invention allows nonwoven fibers to be joined, thus stabilizing the nonwoven fibers. Stabilization of nonwoven fibers means that they will not disintegrate, or will not disintegrate easily, during washing, allowing nonwoven fibers that would otherwise be disposable to become reusable. Furthermore, with the present invention, the layers of the article can be joined simply by arranging them as described above and applying a compressive force to the article. This eliminates or at least reduces the need for sewing and / or other complex layer joining processes, thus significantly reducing the manufacturing process, costs and time. In addition, the use of complex machinery will not be necessary for the manufacture of the article. Furthermore, the total or partial absence of seams makes the article less prone to leaks. In some models, the item is leak-proof.
[00343] One or more non-limiting advantages of the present invention may be the following: • Simpler design • Reduced cost • Easy to assemble • Does not require complex machinery for assembling the layers, as the layers can be joined simply by applying compressive force to the article (i.e., pressure) • Reduced manufacturing time • Less need for labor, since there is no complex joining process Petition 870250103386, dated 12 / 11 / 2025, pp. 65 / 103 61 / 61 • Reusable item - more environmentally friendly than disposable products • Free of harmful or hazardous chemicals • Can be washed and tumble dried • Less prone to leaks due to the absence or reduction of seams • Speed, absorption level and liquid retention capacity are not compromised, while significantly reducing the number of steps, time and complexity of layering during manufacturing.
