Description
1 / 37 “BOARD FOR SUPPORTING ONE OR MORE OBJECTS AND CHAIR STRUCTURE INCLUDING THE BOARD” DESCRIPTION SCOPE OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention is situated in the technical field of furniture and accessories and is particularly related to a board for supporting one or more objects. A chair frame intended to complement the present board for supporting one or more objects is also provided. STATE OF THE ART
[0002] As is known, many chairs or armchairs allow the integration of a board equipped with a support surface on which the user can place different types of material while seated.
[0003] This type of chair is particularly popular in all environments where people need to perform certain activities while seated.
[0004] For example, the board allows the user to support notebooks, pens, laptops or smartphones so that he or she can take notes or perform various tasks during a work session, conference or other similar events in which the user must remain seated in the chair for long periods of time.
[0005] It is therefore not surprising that chairs or armchairs equipped with a board are frequently used in offices, universities, convention centers and all places where people gather and also need to perform seated activities.
[0006] In the field of chairs and armchairs, therefore, there is a need to create a structure that provides the board with some special characteristics.
[0007] First, the overall ergonomics of this type of chair must be quite high to ensure a particularly comfortable position for the user, both when he or she performs activities with the help of the board (for example, Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pp. 122 / 173 2 / 37 writing or using an electronic device) as well as when he or she remains seated without performing any other action (in fact, without involving the use of the board).
[0008] Furthermore, it has long been known that the weight of a board that remains in the working position (i.e., laid out substantially along a horizontal plane) considerably increases the overall weight of the chair or armchair.
[0009] Therefore, an additional peculiarity of this type of chairs and armchairs is that they drastically reduce in size when the board is not in use by the user; thus, space can be managed optimally and more chairs can be placed even when the board is not needed.
[0010] In addition to the above, chair types that incorporate the installation of a seat must provide a system for moving the seat that is safe, reliable, and particularly easy for the user to operate.
[0011] In fact, it should be highlighted how the board must go from a folded position (where it remains unused) to an active position (i.e., configured to support one or more objects) quickly and without special effort on the part of the user.
[0012] In addition, the board must be able to support a relatively high weight without suffering failures or sudden movements that could cause objects resting on the support surface to fall (with the consequent danger also for the user).
[0013] In an attempt to solve the above problems, some special configurations of chairs or armchairs designed to integrate a board have been developed.
[0014] Patent document EP 0 995 376 describes a folding chair frame including a plank, which is also folding. The plank is connected to the chair frame by a joint formed by a series of mutually coupled parts that are selectively movable between a lower position (in which the plank maintains a substantially vertical position) and a Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pp. 123 / 173 3 / 37 upper position (in which the board assumes a horizontal configuration). Furthermore, the joint has a tilting and rotation mechanism consisting of a horizontal and a vertical joint. The horizontal joint consists of an additional sleeve provided with a stop cam and a tubular element with a recess arranged eccentrically below the board. The vertical joint, on the other hand, consists of a tubular seat and a pin suitable for insertion into this seat; this pin can be pushed into the tubular seat in order to compress a spring and disengage the stops associated with the board. In this way, therefore, the user can promote the selective (and safe) rotation of the board from the upper to the lower position.
[0015] The board handling mechanism described in the chair structure above is quite complex and requires anchoring the joint directly to the chair's armrest; furthermore, this mechanism has some strict limitations on the positions the board can assume in relation to the user.
[0016] US patent document 2002 / 0190546 describes a chair comprising a seat, a backrest, and a board that can be moved between a lowered (non-operational) and a raised (operational) position. When the shelf is in the lowered position, it is held inclined relative to a plane of symmetry of the chair, so that two or more chairs of the same type can be placed side by side longitudinally with each other, with the boards of the adjacent chairs partially overlapping in the ping position. Again, an articulated element is provided comprising two coupled and mutually rotating bodies. One of the bodies has a semicircular groove that has a 180° extension; within this groove a pin can slide, and the stop of the latter with the ends of the groove defines the limit positions that the board can assume in rotation. There is also a spring-loaded retention mechanism designed to keep the board in a stable position when it is lowered. Specifically, this mechanism comprises a pair of pins mounted slidingly within appropriate grooves formed in one of the... Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pp. 124 / 173 4 / 37 bodies; the ends of these pins engage removablely in recesses formed in the other body of the joint.
[0017] The articulation described in the article above is quite elaborate in its construction and does not allow the board to be folded into a position that minimizes the space occupied by the chair when it is not in use, such as placing it behind the backrest. Furthermore, even in this case, the positioning of the board in relation to the user is severely restricted.
[0018] Furthermore, the chair structures discussed in previous articles do not offer a suitable board for completely symmetrical use, whether the user is right-handed or left-handed.
[0019] In other words, the board handling mechanism described in the cited documents does not provide the board with the same degrees of freedom in handling (and therefore the ability to assume the same end positions) when it is placed to the right of the chair frame (right-handed user) or to the left of the chair frame (left-handed user).
[0020] US patent document 6,422,646 describes a support intended to cooperate with a chair frame. The support is specifically designed to hold a computer keyboard in an optimal operating position for the user. The support has a clamp attached to the stem of a pedestal chair, an arm extending transversely and laterally from this clamp, a first vertical tubular member and a second vertical tubular member mutually fixed to each other, and a substantially transverse board. The first and second tubular elements define two axes of rotation offset transversely from each other, around which the board can rotate. Thus, the user can adjust the position of the board to the right or left of the chair frame through rotations imparted around, respectively, the vertical axis defined by the clamp and the vertical axes defined by the first and second tubular elements.
[0021] However, the solution proposed by this chair structure has the disadvantage of not allowing the board to be folded into one position. Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pages 125 / 173 5 / 37 idle.
[0022] Therefore, it is not possible to reduce the total area occupied by the structure when the user does not intend to use the board during the time they remain seated.
[0023] Furthermore, the articulation allows the board to rotate within a limited range, at the expense of the board's flexibility of use.
[0024] As a result, the ergonomics of the chair achieved through the structures described above are limited, as is the comfort perceived by the user during the use of the board.
[0025] Document KR 101 980 441 describes a board suitable for integration into the structure of a chair or armchair to allow objects to be supported. However, the board described in that document also exhibits the same disadvantages mentioned above. PRESENTATION OF THE INVENTION
[0026] The present invention aims to overcome the above technical disadvantages by providing a particularly efficient and high-performance board for supporting one or more objects.
[0027] Specifically, a purpose of the present invention is to provide a board for supporting one or more objects whose use is considered particularly ergonomic by any type of user, whether right-handed or left-handed.
[0028] Another purpose of the present invention is to provide a board for supporting one or more objects that offers a high degree of freedom of movement, regardless of which side it is used on in relation to the user.
[0029] Another purpose of the present invention is to provide a board for supporting one or more objects that is simple to make and easy to assemble.
[0030] Another purpose of the present invention is to provide a board for supporting one or more objects that is particularly safe during Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pages 126 / 173 6 / 37 use and be able to maintain a stable active position even when the user interacts with it involuntarily.
[0031] Another purpose of the present invention is to provide a board to support one or more objects that allows easy switching from the active to the inactive position (and vice versa), without requiring great effort on the part of the user.
[0032] Another objective of the present invention is to provide boards for supporting one or more objects, capable of adapting to most types of chairs and / or armchairs currently available on the market.
[0033] Again, one of the purposes of the present invention is to provide a board for supporting one or more objects that can be easily installed as an additional accessory on a chair and / or armchair frame already manufactured, adapting the latter to particular needs arising after its manufacture / marketing.
[0034] No less important, the present invention aims to provide a board for supporting one or more objects which, by defining a complementary accessory to the structure of a chair, presents a minimum occupied space, in order to optimize packaging and reduce transportation costs.
[0035] These purposes, along with others that will be better elucidated below, are achieved by a board for supporting one or more objects of the type according to claim 1.
[0036] Other purposes, which will be better described below, are achieved by a board to support one or more objects according to dependent claims.
[0037] The above purposes are also achieved by a chair structure of the type according to claim 15. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0053] The present invention relates to a support board for one or more objects, collectively referred to in the Figures by reference number 1.
[0054] The board 1 relating to the invention described herein is of the type that can be fixed to the structure of a chair or armchair in order to provide assistance to the user who, while seated, needs support for objects of various types or intends to perform some specific activity.
[0055] Specifically, this board 1 provides support for tools used for writing or reading, such as books, notebooks, pens, or electronic devices that perform the same functions, such as laptops, smartphones, tablets, e-readers / writers, etc.
[0056] More generally, the purpose of this board 1 is to provide support for a multitude of objects given to a user who remains seated in the chair / armchair. These objects can vary in size and weight, from a few grams to a few kilograms.
[0057] Furthermore, the present board 1 can be arranged to integrate from the outset into a chair / armchair structure, i.e., the chair / armchair can be considered as a finished product which comprises, at the time of its manufacture, both a structure (i.e., a frame, the seat area, upholstery, etc.) and a board of the type described herein anchored to that structure.
[0058] It is possible, however, to consider board 1 as an object of the present as an autonomous object; in this case board 1 can be considered an accessory independent of the chair structure that is anchored to the latter upon request.
[0059] Thus, table 1 represents an object Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pp. 129 / 173 9 / 37 individually producible and marketable that can be used to complete the structure of a chair / armchair, even after it has been sold and installed.
[0060] Furthermore, the board according to the present invention can be applied to a chair or armchair frame with a seating area that is substantially symmetrical with respect to a plane passing through its centerline. Such a plane is indicated in Figures 13 to 16 by the letter M.
[0061] Next, a first method of board manufacturing will be described, which can be seen in Figures 1 to 9.
[0062] Conveniently, the board includes a shelf 2 suitable for placing one or more objects.
[0063] As mentioned earlier, shelf 2 can be arranged to support various objects, for example, books, notebooks, writing materials, electronic devices, etc.
[0064] In general, shelf 2 may have the appearance of a parallelepiped with a predetermined planar shape.
[0065] In this way, shelf 2 can have a top surface 3 that has a relatively large area to support one or more objects and a relatively small thickness so as not to interfere with the user's body parts during use.
[0066] In the version of the board shown in the Figures, shelf 2 has a substantially square flat shape, although other shelf geometries are possible (e.g., circular).
[0067] The central plane can be seen in Figure 2 and has been indicated with the reference tt-tt.
[0068] Conveniently, plate 1 comprises a joint 4 intended to be associated with shelf 2.
[0069] Specifically, joint 4 can be anchored to shelf 2 on the lower surface 5 of the latter.
[0070] To that end, it is possible to promote the connection of Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pp. 130 / 173 10 / 37 joint 4 to the lower surface 5 of the shelf near a vertex of the square that defines the flat shape of the shelf 2.
[0071] Furthermore, board 1 involves the use of a support element 6 having a predetermined shape and ends 7, 8 respectively connected to the joint 4 and to the structure of the chair / armchair intended to compose board 1.
[0072] In a particular embodiment of the invention, the end 8 of the support element 6 (intended to be anchored to the chair / armchair frame equipped with a gas cylinder) may consist of a piece of tubing intended to engage a substantially cylindrical, rotating and slightly conical element (not shown in the Figures). This cylindrical / rotating / conical element may, in turn, be configured to be inserted into the end of the gas cylinder of the chair frame; this cylinder, moreover, generally slides within a chamber formed in the central support of the frame suitable for supporting the seating area.
[0073] As best observed in Figure 7, the joint 4 is arranged to be connected to shelf 2 and to support element 6 (at the end 7 of the latter).
[0074] In the case of the configuration of board 1 visible in the Figures, the support element 6 is tubular and the joint 4 provides a sleeve 9 suitable for insertion into an end portion 7 of that tubular support element 6.
[0075] In addition, the joint 4 comprises an enlarged central portion 10, generally with a substantially circular flat shape, connected to the sleeve 9 and having an upper face 11 intended to come into contact with the lower surface 5 of the shelf 2.
[0076] There is, moreover, an elongated pin 12 suitable for connecting the central portion 10 of the joint 4 to the shelf 2; in particular, this elongated pin 12 has one end 13 interacting with the central portion 10 of the joint 4 and an opposite end 14 interacting with the shelf 2. Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pp. 131 / 173 11 / 37
[0077] Conveniently, the joint 4 can be mounted on the end 7 of the support element 6 so as to present a degree of freedom in rotation around a first predetermined axis of rotation Ri.
[0078] In particular, the first axis of rotation Ri is basically coaxial with the sleeve 9 inserted at the end of the support element 6.
[0079] During rotation around the first axis Ri, the support element 6 remains fixed, while the joint 4 rotates relative to it. Consequently, the sleeve 9 and the central portion 10 of the joint 4 also rotate simultaneously relative to the support element 6.
[0080] When joint 4 rotates around the first axis of rotation Ri, shelf 2 is also pulled into rotation by its connection with joint 4, so as to promote the rotation of shelf 2 itself between an inoperative position, in which objects of various types cannot be placed on it, and an operative position, in which the user can place objects on the upper surface 3 of shelf 2.
[0081] In general, joint 4 can rotate around the first axis of rotation Ri with an angular amplitude Δι not less than 90°.
[0082] In the non-operational position, shelf 2 occupies minimal space and is located away from the seating area of the chair / armchair frame (normally positioned next to the seating area).
[0083] In this position, user access to the seating area is unobstructed, and the user can sit down and get up from the chair / armchair without interfering with shelf 2.
[0084] In the operating position, shelf 2 is positioned above the seating area so that it is placed in front of the torso of the user who is seated in the chair / armchair.
[0085] In this position, the user can place objects on the upper surface 3 of shelf 2, while the joint 4 (anchored to shelf 2 on the lower surface 5) faces downwards, i.e., towards the user's legs. Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pp. 132 / 173 12 / 37
[0086] Considering a chair / armchair resting on the floor, in the inoperative position, shelf 2 can be substantially orthogonal to the ground (i.e., the shelf assumes a substantially vertical position), while in the operational position, shelf 2 can be substantially parallel to the ground (i.e., assume a substantially horizontal position).
[0087] As a result, the operative and inoperative positions are spaced angularly at approximately 90°.
[0088] As can be best seen in Figure 2, shelf 2 is anchored to joint 4 in such a way as to keep the first axis of rotation Ri on the planar π-π center line; in other words, the planar π-π center line is oriented so as to contain all the points that define the first axis of rotation Ri.
[0089] Thus, shelf 2 is symmetrical with respect to the planar center line π-π and the first axis of rotation Ri.
[0090] Appropriately, shelf 2 can rotate between an operational position and an inoperative position as a result of an action performed by the user on the elements of board 1.
[0091] Appropriately, the elongated pin 12 that connects the joint 4 to the shelf 2 can be considered a rotational pin for shelf 2 itself. In this way, such shelf 2 can rotate relative to the joint 4 around a second axis of rotation R2 that passes through the elongated pin 12.
[0092] The second axis of rotation R2 is essentially orthogonal to the first axis of rotation R1.
[0093] For example, the first axis of rotation R1 can be essentially horizontal (i.e., parallel to the ground), whereas, when the shelf is in the operating position, the second axis of rotation R2 can be essentially vertical.
[0094] Shelf 2 can rotate around the second axis of rotation R2 with a predetermined angular excursion Δ2.
[0095] For example, as best seen in Figure 5, the Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pages 133 / 173 13 / 37 The angular excursion Δ2 of shelf 2 around the second axis of rotation R2 can be between 120° and 300°.
[0096] The angular excursion Δ2 of shelf 2 around the second axis of rotation R2 can be essentially symmetrical with respect to the first axis of rotation R1.
[0097] Taking, in fact, the first axis of rotation R1 as a reference, the angular excursion Δ2 of shelf 2 around the second axis R2 can be obtained as the sum of two angles a, a', which are formed in relation to the first axis of rotation R1, Δ = |a| + |a'|.
[0098] Angles a, a' have essentially equal magnitudes, but their endpoints are positioned on opposite sides of the first axis of rotation R1 (it is therefore possible to define a rotation of shelf 2 which, in relation to the image in Figure 5, can extend between two endpoints placed to the right and left of the first axis of rotation R1, respectively).
[0099] Conveniently, the support element 6 that supports shelf 2 and joint 4 can be anchored to the chair / armchair frame in a rotating manner.
[0100] Specifically, support element 6 can be anchored to the chair / armchair frame near the central rod that supports the seat, or to another structural element of the chair / armchair (such as a support leg).
[0101] One end 8 of the support element 6 is anchored to the chair / armchair frame so as to define a constraint with respect to upward or downward translation; however, this end 8 is rotationally connected with respect to the chair / armchair frame so as to allow rotation of the support element 6 around a third axis of rotation R3.
[0102] The third axis of rotation R3 passes through end 8 of the support element 6 anchored to the chair / armchair frame and is essentially parallel to the second axis of rotation R2 when shelf 2 is in the operating position. Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pp. 134 / 173 14 / 37
[0103] In general, the third axis of rotation R3 can be substantially vertical.
[0104] Furthermore, the support element 6 can rotate about the third axis of rotation R3 without restrictions, i.e., with an angular excursion Δ3 of 360°.
[0105] Appropriately, the support element 6 may consist of a pair of molded arms 15, 16, one of which 15 has an end 7 anchored to the joint 4, while the other 16 has an end 8 anchored to the chair frame.
[0106] As best observed in Figure 1, the arm 16 anchored to the chair / armchair structure is positioned below the arm 15 intended to support the joint 4 and the shelf 2.
[0107] Both arms 15, 16 have an essentially “L” shape, meaning each is defined by a pair of mutually joined sections that develop in mutually orthogonal directions.
[0108] Appropriately, arms 15, 16 can be formed from a piece of pipe bent to define an essentially “L” shape.
[0109] Arm 15 also has an end 19 intended to be coupled to an end 20 of the other arm 16.
[0110] The coupling of the ends 19, 20 of the pair of arms 15, 16 is of the rotary type, that is, each arm 15, 16 can rotate relative to the other around a fourth axis of rotation R4 passing through the mutually coupled ends 19, 20.
[0111] In general, the sections of the arms 15,16 comprising the ends 19, 20 are essentially straight so as to define along their development, a fourth axis of rotation R4 essentially parallel to the third axis of rotation R3.
[0112] In general, the third axis of rotation R3 is basically vertical. Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pages 135 / 173 15 / 37
[0113] Furthermore, the rotation of the arms 15,16 in relation to the fourth axis of rotation R4 can occur freely and without restrictions, i.e., the upper arm 15 anchored in the joint 4 can rotate in relation to the lower arm 16 connected to the chair / armchair frame with a range Δ4 of 360°.
[0114] The configuration of board 1 described above allows controlled and selective rotation of shelf 2 around four axes of rotation:
[0115] - Shelf 2 can rotate around the first axis of rotation R1 to assume an operative position or an inoperative position;
[0116] - Shelf 2 can rotate relative to the joint around the second axis of rotation R2;
[0117] - Shelf 2 can rotate around the chair / armchair frame around the third axis of rotation R3;
[0118] -Shelf 2 can rotate relative to arm 16 of support element 6 which is anchored to the chair / armchair frame around the fourth axis of rotation R4.
[0119] Connecting board 1 to the chair frame of the type described above provides the greatest number of degrees of freedom in moving shelf 2. Under these conditions, the shelf can be positioned to the left or right of the user (rotation around axis R3) and can be moved closer to or further away from the user by free rotations around axes R2 and R3. Finally, shelf 2 can be selectively positioned in the operative / inoperative position by rotating it around axis R1.
[0120] In addition, board 1 comprises restraining means 21 suitable for promoting selective locking / unlocking of shelf 2 in the operating position.
[0121] The restraining means 21 are configured to keep shelf 2 in the operative position for as long as the user is using the board, preventing the board from autonomously and suddenly returning to the inoperative position.
[0122] As will be described in more detail Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pages 136 / 173 16 / 37 later in this description, the restraining means 21 are suitable for allowing the transition of shelf 2 from the operative position to the inoperative position only as a result of a voluntary action taken by the user on certain components of the board 1.
[0123] The restraining means 21 comprise a pin 22 anchored to the support element 6 near the end 7 of the intended connection to the joint 4.
[0124] In the configuration of board 1 shown in Figures 1 to 9, pin 22 is inserted into a hole 23 formed in the tubular arm 15 coupled to the joint 4.
[0125] The fixed pin 22 can be inserted into a hole formed in the support element 6; this hole is not visible in the Figures. The length of the fixed pin 22 will be chosen so that it has a portion 24 protruding from the support element 6.
[0126] In addition, the hole will be oriented so as to allow the fixed pin 22, after its insertion, to face the protruding portion 24 towards the shelf 2 when the shelf is in the operating position.
[0127] In general, the protruding portion 24 of the fixed pin 22 is oriented upwards and therefore towards the shelf 2 when the latter is in the operating position.
[0128] As best observed in Figure 7, the hole is formed in the support element 6 in a position chosen so that the pin 22 is placed in the central portion 10 of the joint 4, that is, downstream of the sleeve 9.
[0129] In addition, the restraining means 21 comprise a molded seat 25 formed at the joint 4.
[0130] Such seat 25 can be formed in the enlarged portion 10 of the joint 4.
[0131] Conveniently, the molded seat 25 can be opened, that is, it can be formed in the enlarged central portion 10 of the joint 4 so that only the side walls 26, 26' are expected to exist without Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pages 137 / 173 17 / 37 no bottom wall.
[0132] The molded seat 25 can be formed in the enlarged position 10 of the joint 4 in an area suitable to provide interaction with the protruding portion 24 of the fixed pin 22.
[0133] In the continuation of this description, and unless otherwise indicated, the expression “protruding portion of the fixed pin” will be used as a synonym for the expression “fixed pin”, since the interaction of the pin with other elements of the board can only occur in the portion of the pin that projects from the support element.
[0134] Conveniently, the absence of a lower wall, formed in the molded seat 25, allows the fixed pin 22 to be inserted in a through-way manner, as best seen in the section of Figure 7.
[0135] Specifically, in the configuration of the invention shown in Figure 7, the extension of the fixed pin 22 that protrudes from the support element 6 is greater than the height of the seat 25: When the pin is inserted into the seat 25, the latter is completely traversed by it, while the final portion of the pin 22 in turn projects from the upper edge of the seat 27.
[0136] Specifically, it is possible to identify two distinct portions of the seat 25, each with a predetermined shape and size, the union of these portions gives the seat 25 a predetermined conformation chosen in order to promote the locking / unlocking of the articulation 4 with respect to its rotation around the first axis of rotation Ri, as will be better elucidated below.
[0137] First, the first portion 28 has a width W2 such that the fixed pin 22 can be inserted.
[0138] However, the first portion 28 of the seat 25 has a width h slightly greater than the diameter D1 of the fixed pin so that it can be inserted with little play.
[0139] The length I2 of the first seat 28 will be chosen to be slightly larger than at least the radius (Di / 2) of pin 22.
[0140] For example, when the fixed pin has a diameter Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pp. 138 / 173 18 / 37 between 5 mm and 10 mm, the first seat can have an extension between 7 mm and 20 mm.
[0141] Furthermore, the first portion 28 of the seat 25 has a straight development that extends along a direction essentially parallel to the first axis of rotation Ri.
[0142] There is also a second portion 29 of seat 25 also having a predetermined format, however, this second portion 29 is in communication with the first portion 28.
[0143] In general, the second portion 29 of seat 25 can also be straight.
[0144] The second portion 29, moreover, may have a width W3 slightly greater than the diameter Di of the fixed pin 22 (so as to allow its insertion inside it) and a length h chosen to be at least equal to the length of the portion of the pin 22 that protrudes from the upper edge of the seat 25.
[0145] For example, if the fixed pin 22 has a diameter between 5 mm and 10 mm and a total length between 15 mm and 25 mm, the second portion 29 may have a width W3 slightly greater than 5 mm to 10 mm and a length h not less than 30 mm to 50 mm.
[0146] Appropriately, the second portion 29 of the seat 25 may extend along a direction perpendicular to the direction of development of the first portion 28 of the seat 25.
[0147] Specifically, in the plank configuration illustrated in Figures 1 to 9, the second portion 29 of the seat 25 extends along a direction orthogonal to the first axis of rotation R1 and the second axis of rotation R2, respectively.
[0148] Furthermore, the first portion 28 can be joined to the second portion 29 of the seat substantially on the centerline of the latter.
[0149] In this case, seat 25 may have a substantially “T” shaped plan view formed by two orthogonal and mutually communicating sections represented by the first portion 28 and the second Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pp. 139 / 173 19 / 37 portion 29.
[0150] Furthermore, the first portion 28 is parallel to the first axis of rotation Ri and therefore the τ-π plane, in addition to being a plane of symmetry for shelf 2, can also be the plane of symmetry for the “T” shaped seat 25.
[0151] As is clearly visible in Figure 4, seat 25 is symmetrical with respect to the τ-π plane (just as the first portion 28 and the second portion 29 are also symmetrical with respect to the π-π plane).
[0152] As will be better elucidated later in this description, the articulation 4 is movable in relation to the fixed pin 22 in order to promote the selective insertion of the latter into the first portion 28 and into the second portion 29 of the seat 25 (and vice versa).
[0153] When pin 22 is inserted into the first portion 28 of seat 25, the clearance between these two elements is particularly small, and for this reason the joint 4 is locked in rotation around the first axis of rotation Ri.
[0154] In this condition, in the case where the user acts on the board imposing a rotational torque on the shelf around the first axis Ri, the outer surface 30 of the fixed pin 22 immediately comes into contact with the side wall 26 of the first portion 28 of the seat 25.
[0155] The backing of the outer surface 30 of pin 22 against the wall 26 of the first portion 28 of the seat 25 creates a restriction with respect to the rotation of the joint 4 around the first axis of rotation Ri.
[0156] Consequently, the insertion of the fixed pin 22 within the first portion 28 of the seat 25 locks both the articulation 4 and the shelf 2 connected to it with respect to rotation around the first axis Ri, thus forcing these two elements to maintain their position even when the user intends to apply rotation around the same axis Ri.
[0157] Properly, the fixed pin 22 is inserted into the first portion 28 when shelf 2 is in the operating position. Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pp. 140 / 173 20 / 37
[0158] When the fixed pin 22 is inserted into the second portion 29 of the seat 25, the joint 4 is free to rotate around the first axis of rotation Ri.
[0159] In this case, in fact, if the user applies a torque to the joint 4 that causes it to rotate around the first axis Ri, the second portion 29 rotates around the same axis Ri and around the pin 22, which instead remains fixed because it is restricted to the support element 6.
[0160] As best observed in Figure 6, the angle β between the direction of development H of the second portion 29 of the seat 25 and the pin 22 varies from an initial maximum value of about 90° to a final minimum value of about 0°, during the rotation of the joint 4 around the first axis Ri.
[0161] During this rotation, in fact, the positioning of the second portion 28 of the seat 25 in relation to the fixed pin 22 varies as indicated below.
[0162] At the beginning of the rotation, the second portion 29 is substantially perpendicular to pin 22. However, as the joint 4 rotates (clockwise or counterclockwise), the second portion 29 approaches pin 22 so that it assumes a position that is increasingly aligned with the latter.
[0163] At the end of the rotation, the second portion 29 and pin 22 are substantially parallel and therefore the angle β between the development direction H of the second portion 29 and pin 22 is essentially zero. In this position, pin 22 is completely housed within the second portion 29.
[0164] During the rotation of joint 4, pin 22 always remains at least partially within the second portion 29 of seat 25, that is, there is never any disengagement between these two elements.
[0165] However, the length h of the second portion 29 of the seat 25 must be chosen so that when the user applies clockwise or counterclockwise rotation to the joint 4, the portion 24 of the pin 22 that projects from the support element 6 can be fully housed within the second portion 29 without coming into contact with the walls 26' or edges 27 of the latter. Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pp. 141 / 173 21 / 37
[0166] For this reason, as described above and as a result of the fact that pin 22 fits within the second portion 29 of seat 25 on the centerline of the latter, the length h of the second portion 29 must be at least twice the length U associated with the protruding portion 24 of the fixed pin 22.
[0167] In this way, joint 4 can rotate until pin 22 is fully housed within the second portion 29, so that an essentially zero angle β is defined with the second portion 29.
[0168] Appropriately, due to the above, when the fixed pin 22 is inserted into the second portion 29 of the seat 25, the shelf 4 can rotate between the operative and inoperative positions (and vice versa).
[0169] In the operative position, the development direction H of the second portion 29 of seat 25 is basically orthogonal to pin 22, while in the inoperative position the development direction H is basically parallel to pin 22.
[0170] The rotation of joint 4 between the operative and inoperative positions (and therefore the rotation of shelf 2) can be transmitted with both directions of rotation (clockwise / counterclockwise), since the second portion 29 of seat 25 is essentially symmetrical with respect to the π-π plane of symmetry that passes through it.
[0171] In addition, the board includes suitable actuation means 31 to promote controlled movement of the joint 4 and / or pin 22 in relation to the support element 6, in order to promote selective insertion of the fixed pin 22 within the first portion 28 of the seat 25, or within the second portion 29 of the seat 25.
[0172] In other words, the actuation means 31 allow the movement of the seat 25 obtained at the joint 4 to be promoted in order to determine in which of the two portions 28, 29 the fixed pin 22 is inserted.
[0173] As described above, when the fixed pin 22 is inserted into the first portion 28 of the seat 25, the shelf 2 is in the operating position. Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pages 142 / 173 22 / 37 and the articulation 4 is locked in rotation; while at the moment when the fixed pin 22 is inside the second portion 29 of the seat 25, it is possible to promote the rotation of the shelf 2 around the first axis of rotation Ri between the two operative / inoperative positions.
[0174] The actuation means 31 are activated by the user to promote the selective passage of shelf 2 from the operative position to the inoperative position.
[0175] In fact, to unlock the rotation of shelf 2 which is in the operating position, the user is required to interact with the drive means 31 in order to impart a controlled movement to the joint 4 suitable for promoting the passage of the fixed pin 22 from the first portion 28 of the seat 25 to the second portion 29 of the seat 25.
[0176] In the board configuration shown in the Figures, the seat 25 has a substantially “T” shape formed by the first portion 28 and the second portion 29, these portions are, moreover, displaced along the first axis of rotation Ri.
[0177] For this reason, the actuation means 31 can be configured to promote selective translation of the joint 4 relative to the fixed pin 22 along a direction substantially parallel to the first axis of rotation Ri.
[0178] Referring to Figure 3, the first portion 28 of the seat 25 is in the forward position (i.e., facing the glove 9) compared to the second portion 29 of the seat 25.
[0179] Thus, in this case, the actuation means 31 allow the joint 4 to perform a translation along the first axis of rotation Ri with a predetermined excursion sufficient to allow the pin to engage in both portions 28, 29 of the seat 25.
[0180] Specifically, to promote the accommodation of pin 22 from the first portion 28 to the second portion 29, it is necessary to provide a translation of the joint along the first axis Ri with a direction that promotes Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pages 143 / 173 23 / 37 the approach of the second axis of rotation R2 to the fixed pin 22.
[0181] On the other hand, to promote the accommodation of pin R1 of the second portion 29 of the seat 25 to the first portion 28 of the seat 25, it is necessary to provide a translation of the joint along the first axis R1 in the opposite direction, that is, promoting the movement of the second axis of rotation R2 away from the fixed pin 22.
[0182] The translation of the joint along the first axis R1 is promoted by the user as a function of a force applied to shelf 2; anchoring shelf 2 to joint 4 allows the force generated by the user to be transferred to the latter in order to promote its translation in relation to the first axis R1.
[0183] Conveniently, the actuation means 31 may comprise a spring 32 having one end 34 acting on the joint 4 and an opposite end 33 acting on the support element 6 or fixed pin 22.
[0184] As best seen in Figure 7, the function of spring 32 is to maintain joint 4 in a reference position.
[0185] Specifically, spring 32 acts on joint 4 so as to keep pin 22 inserted within the first portion 28. In other words, spring 32 allows joint 4 to keep shelf 2 in the operating position, preventing pin 22 from slipping out of the first portion 28 of seat 25 without the user having made a voluntary action on the actuation means 31.
[0186] Therefore, the action of spring 32 prevents the unexpected and unwanted passage of shelf 2 from the operative position to the inoperative position.
[0187] In a preferred board configuration, spring 32 will be inserted into a housing 35 partially formed at joint 4 and partially formed by the inner tubular cavity of the support element 6.
[0188] The use of a bushing 36 intended to be inserted inside the tubular cavity of the support element 6 may be foreseen. Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pages 144 / 173 24 / 37 (generally consisting of arm 15 which supports joint 4).
[0189] Spring 32 can be inserted into such bushing 36 and the latter can comprise a stop wall 37 for the end 33 of the same spring 32.
[0190] When the first portion 28 of the seat 25 is placed upstream relative to the second portion 29, as illustrated in Figure 7, the spring 32 is preloaded in compression so as to apply an external action force to the joint 4 that is adequate to promote the movement of the second axis of rotation R2 away from the pin 22.
[0191] In this condition, pin 22 remains inserted within the first portion 28 of seat 25 when shelf 2 is in the operating position.
[0192] In an alternative version of the invention, it is possible to foresee the use of a pre-loaded tension spring 32: in this case, portions 28, 29 of the seat 25 are inverted from what can be seen in Figure 7, that is, the second portion 29 is placed upstream in relation to the first portion 28.
[0193] The action of a preloaded spring 32 in tension allows applying an inwardly oriented force in such a way that it promotes the approximation of the second axis of rotation R2 in relation to pin 22.
[0194] Therefore, in this case as well, pin 22 remains inserted within the first portion 28 of seat 25 when shelf 2 is in the operating position.
[0195] Finally, in the board configuration illustrated in Figures 1 to 9, it is possible to foresee the use of a spring 35 arranged inside the tubular support element 6 on the opposite side to pin 22 (i.e., on the opposite side to the configuration visible in Figure 7).
[0196] Furthermore, a simplified version of the actuation means 31 can be provided such that the spring 32 is housed within the tubular cavity of the support element 6; in this case, the end of the spring 33 is suitable for contacting the portion of the pin 22 inserted within the tubular arm. Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pages 145 / 173 25 / 37
[0197] Conveniently, the actuation means 31 comprise a molded recess 38 formed in shelf 2.
[0198] Specifically, recess 38 allows insertion of end 24 of fixed pin 22 projecting from molded seder 25.
[0199] Recess 38 is formed on the lower surface 5 of shelf 2 on which joint 4 is mounted.
[0200] Rotation of shelf 2 around the second axis of rotation R2 promotes subsequent rotation of recess 38 around fixed pin 22.
[0201] In a board configuration not illustrated in the Figures, the size and shape of recess 38 can be chosen so that it rotates around the second axis R2 during most of the angular excursion Δ2 without any edge or wall of the recess coming into contact with the fixed pin 22.
[0202] In an alternative embodiment shown in Figure 8 and Figure 9, (representing, however, one among several embodiments of the recess 38) there is a semicircular edge 39 intended to come into contact with the outer surface 30 of the fixed pin 22 when the shelf 2 rotates around the second axis of rotation R2.
[0203] A possible advantage related to the presence of a contact edge 39 is to make in it a small central notch 44 suitable for removable engagement with the end of the pin 22 inserted in the recess 38 so as to define a reference point during the rotation of shelf 2 around the second axis of rotation R2. For example, the notch 44 can be placed on the center line of edge 39 (so as to signal to the user an initial position relative to the symmetrical rotation of shelf 2 around axis R2). Alternatively, the notch 44 can be placed near the end portions 41, 42 of edge 39 so as to signal to the user the imminent transition of shelf 2 from the active position to the inactive position.
[0204] Therefore, in this case, the semicircular surface 39 that delimits the recess 38 slides on the fixed pin 22 during the rotation of the shelf. Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pages 146 / 173 26 / 37 around the second axis of rotation R2.
[0205] Alternatively, the molded recess 38 may comprise a semicircular groove defined by a pair of parallel edges and suitable for housing within it the end portion of the fixed pin 22.
[0206] During the rotation of shelf 2, one or both edges defining the groove may come into contact with the outer surface 30 of the fixed pin 22 so as to slide relative to it.
[0207] The configuration of recess 38 comprising a groove is shown in Figure 9.
[0208] Preferably, the actuation means 31 may include at least one guide surface 40 suitable for interacting with the fixed pin 22 when the shelf 2, during rotation around the second axis R2, reaches an angular excursion Δ2 close to its maximum value.
[0209] In general, the actuation means 31 comprise a pair of guide surfaces 40: one of these guide surfaces 40 is suitable for interacting with pin 22 when the shelf rotates clockwise, while the other of these surfaces 40 is suitable for interacting with pin 22 when the shelf rotates counterclockwise.
[0210] The guide surfaces 40 can be substantially straight and both oriented so as to converge to a point P located towards the center of shelf 2, in order to promote, during the rotation of shelf 2, a decrease in the distance between the fixed pin 22 and the second axis of rotation R2.
[0211] In the board configuration shown in the Figures, the straight guide surfaces 40 have one end 41,42 in common with the endpoint of the semicircular edge of the recess.
[0212] When the user acts on shelf 2 so as to make it rotate around the second axis of rotation R2, the semicircular edge 39 of recess 38 slides over the outer surface 30 of pin 22 (without any change in the distance between this component and the second axis of rotation R2) until it reaches a Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pages 147 / 173 27 / 37 of its extremities 41, 42.
[0213] If the user acts on shelf 2 in such a way as to promote its rotation beyond the ends 41, 42 of the semicircular edge 39, the guide surface 40 that is in the vicinity of pin 22 begins to slide on the outer surface 30 of the latter, so as to cause pin 22 to approach the second axis of rotation R2.
[0214] The guide surface 40, however, has a straight course instead of a semicircular one and ends in an end 43 suitable for forming a stop for the pin 22; this end 43 faces inwards toward the shelf 2 and is arranged opposite the ends of the semicircular edge 38.
[0215] This guide surface configuration generates, in addition to the rotation of shelf 2 around the second axis of rotation R2, also a translation of shelf 2 itself along a direction parallel to the first axis of rotation R1.
[0216] In other words, the sliding of the guide surface 40 of the above type (straight and converging inwards) on the fixed pin 22 varies the movement to which the shelf 2 is subjected, transforming it from a pure rotational movement in relation to the second axis of rotation R2 to a rototranslational movement in relation to the second axis of rotation R2 and the first axis R1.
[0217] When the guide surface 40 slides relative to pin 22, the joint 4 undergoes translational movement along a direction parallel to the first axis of rotation Ri: thus, pin 22 itself can selectively fit within the first portion 28 or within the second portion 29 of the seat 25.
[0218] If the guide surface 40 slides on pin 22 with a sliding direction such that its end 43 approaches the pin, the joint translates along the first axis R1 with a direction such that the second axis of rotation R2 approaches the fixed pin 22.
[0219] During this translational movement of the joint, pin 22 projects progressively from the first portion 28 of the seat. Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pp. 148 / 173 28 / 37 to fit inside the second portion 29.
[0220] On the other hand, when the guide surface 40 slides on the pin 22, to move the latter away from its end 43, the joint can translate along the first axis Ri (recovered by the spring 32) in such a direction that the second axis of rotation R2 moves away from the fixed pin 22.
[0221] In this case, if pin 22, as a result of the rotation of shelf 2 around the axis of rotation R2, is again found assuming a position aligned with the first portion 28 of seat 25, such pin 22 tends progressively to project from the second portion 29 of seat 25 to fit within the first portion 28.
[0222] Due to the above, by means of the rotation promoted by the user on shelf 2, the automatic translation of the joint 4 can be promoted so that the fixed pin 22 can selectively engage the first portion 28 or the second portion 29 of the seat 25.
[0223] In this way, by rotating shelf 2 and without directly acting on the joint, the user can either lock this component in rotation (inactive position) or let it rotate around the first axis of rotation R1 (going from the active to the inactive position).
[0224] It is possible to foresee an alternative recess configuration 38 to that described above which is distinguished by having a non-symmetrical geometry (this configuration is not illustrated in the Figures). The asymmetrical recess 38 involves a single guide surface 40 made at the right end 41 or at the left end 42 of the semicircular edge 39. In this case, the automatic translation of the joint 4 is promoted only when the user rotates the shelf in the appropriate direction to bring the guide surface 40 against the fixed pin 22.
[0225] Furthermore, in this configuration of recess 38, a travel surface (not shown in the Figures) can be made substantially radial to the axis of rotation R2 and capable of making contact with the fixed pin 22 when the user rotates the shelf 2 in the opposite direction to the direction that allows the guide surface 40 to make back contact with the pin itself. Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pages 149 / 173 29 / 37
[0226] The function of the travel surface is to define a final stop in the rotation of shelf 2 around the second axis of rotation R2 when the direction of rotation of shelf 2 is opposite to that which brings guide surface 40 closer to pin 22.
[0227] If the user rotates shelf 2 around axis R2 in a first direction of rotation (so that pin 22 approaches guide surface 40), at the end of this rotation the interaction between pin 22 and guide surface 40 is established in such a way as to promote the passage of shelf 2 from the operative position to the inoperative position. On the other hand, if the shelf rotates around axis R2 in the opposite direction, at the end of the rotation, pin 22 comes into contact with the travel surface, which therefore interrupts its rotation at a final limit position.
[0228] The board configuration illustrated in Figures 1 to 9 involves making a molded seat 25 that is essentially symmetrical with respect to the π-π plane of symmetry.
[0229] More generally, seat 25 consists of a first portion 28 and a second portion 29 that extend along respective directions of development that are substantially orthogonal to each other and so that they form a “T” shape in a plane symmetrical with respect to the π-π plane (visible in Figure 4).
[0230] Specifically, the first portion 28 of seat 25 can extend along a development direction parallel to the first axis of rotation R1 (and lie in the π-π plane of symmetry), while the second portion 29 of seat 25 extends along a development direction orthogonal to the first axis of rotation R1.
[0231] This seat configuration 25, combined with a recess provided with a pair of guide surfaces 40, allows shelf 2 to automatically transition from the operating position to the inoperable position when rotating around the second axis of rotation R2 in both directions of rotation (clockwise and counterclockwise). Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pages 150 / 173 30 / 37
[0232] However, it is possible to foresee an alternative configuration of seat 25, suitable for allowing the automatic transition of shelf 2 from the operative position to the inoperative position only when it rotates around axis R2 with a certain direction of rotation (clockwise or counterclockwise).
[0233] In this case, seat 25 consists of a first portion 28 that extends in a direction substantially parallel to the axis Ri and a second portion 29 that extends in a direction orthogonal to the first portion 28, so as to define a seat 25 with a substantially “L” shape in plan.
[0234] Thus, in this case, the transition of shelf 2 from the operative position to the inoperative position occurs only when it rotates in a direction that allows the engagement of pin 22 in the second portion 29 of the seat.
[0235] If the substantially “L”-shaped seat 25 has a second portion 29 positioned to the left of the first portion 28 (relative to the top plan view, with the first portion 28 positioned at the bottom), the transition of shelf 2 from the operative position to the inoperative position occurs when the user rotates the latter around the second axis of rotation R2 in a clockwise direction.
[0236] On the other hand, if the substantially “L”-shaped seat 25 has a second portion 29 positioned to the right of the first portion 28 (relative to the top plan view, with the first portion 28 positioned at the bottom), the transition of shelf 2 from the operative position to the inoperative position occurs when the user rotates the latter around the second axis of rotation R2 in a counterclockwise direction.
[0237] Conveniently, when the seat 25 has a flat “L” shape, the molded recess 38 can be of the asymmetrical type (as described above) so as to allow the realization of a single guide surface 40 positioned in the direction of rotation concordant with that which allows the insertion of the pin 22 within the second portion 29 of the seat 25.
[0238] There is also a variation in the board configuration Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pp. 151 / 173 31 / 37 described above and illustrated in Figure 7.
[0239] This variant can be seen in Figure 7 bis.
[0240] The variant shown in Figure 7 bis is quite similar to the one shown in Figure 7, except for the configuration provided for pin 22.
[0241] In fact, in this case, the extension of pin 22 is such that it does not project superiorly from the molded seat 25 (and in particular, this pin 22 does not project superiorly from either the first portion 28 or the second portion 29 of this seat 25).
[0242] In other words, the configuration visible in Figure 7 bis does not include a protruding portion of pin 22 (indicated in the different version of Figure 7 by reference number 24); instead, the end of pin 22 always remains contained within the molded seat 25 (and does not provide for a protrusion outward from it).
[0243] In the configuration of Figure 7 bis, therefore, the selective passage of pin 22 between the first portion 28 of seat 25 (corresponding to locking shelf 2 in the operative position) and the second portion 29 of seat 25 (suitable for allowing rotation of joint 4 from the operative position to the inoperative position) is not promoted by the interaction between the outer surface 30 of pin 22 and the guide surface 40.
[0244] In the configuration of Figure 7 bis, in fact, the passage of pin 22 from the first portion 28 of the seat 25 to the second portion 29 of the same seat 25 can be promoted manually by a user exerting a force on the board 1 (or parts thereof, for example, the shelf 2) such that the resistance of the spring 32 is overcome (i.e., applying a compression of the same) in order to promote the translation of the joint 4 along the axis Ri so as to allow the fixed pin 22 to engage in the second portion 29 of the seat 25.
[0245] This force is shown in Figure 7 bis with the arrow F.
[0246] The user, as a result of the translation of pin 22 in the second portion 29 of seat 25 (through the manual application of force F), can Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pages 152 / 173 32 / 37 promote the rotation of shelf 2 between the operative and inoperative positions.
[0247] When the user rotates shelf 2 in the opposite direction (from the inoperative position to the operative position), as soon as shelf 2 is in the operative position, the force applied by the compressed spring 32 on the joint 4 will be such that it will promote the translation of the latter in the opposite direction to that indicated by arrow F, and the automatic passage of pin 22 from the second portion 29 of the seat to the first portion 28 (so as to generate the locking of shelf 2 in the operative position).
[0248] As described above, this version of the invention does not provide for the interaction of pin 22 with the guide surfaces 40.
[0249] For this reason, therefore, the construction of board 1 shown in Figure 7 bis involves the construction of a shelf 2 of the complete type, that is, without the recesses 38.
[0250] In an alternative version not shown in the Figures, board 1 may have the same configuration visible in Figure 7 bis, except that shelf 2 may also include recess 38. In this case, however, pin 22 does not interact with guide surfaces 40 and the movement of such shelf 2 may be promoted in the same way as already described for the version of board 1 shown in Figure 7 bis.
[0251] In fact, the dimensions of pin 22 are such that it remains within seat 25 in any position (operative, inoperative, in the transition between operative / inoperative and that inoperative / operative) and, therefore, the end of said pin 22 never interacts with shelf 2.
[0252] An alternative configuration of the board object of this invention is shown in Figure 10.
[0253] This different board configuration is of the type described above, except for the parts described in detail herein.
[0254] Specifically, the board in Figure 10 provides a pair of pins 22, 22' (both fixed with respect to the support element 6) intended to interact with the molded seat 25 and the molded recess 38, respectively. Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pages 153 / 173 33 / 37
[0255] The first pin 22 is inserted inside the seat 25 and has a length such that it does not protrude from it. The function of pin 22 is to rotationally lock / unlock the shelf 2 with respect to the axis Ri when it is selectively inserted into the first portion 28 or the second portion 29 of the seat 25.
[0256] The second pin 22', on the other hand, interacts exclusively with recess 38, and does not pass through seat 25. This second pin 22' has a greater length than the first pin 22; this length is chosen so that its outer surface 30 can interact with the guide surface 40 obtained in recess 38.
[0257] In the board configuration shown in Figure 10, the rotational locking / unlocking of shelf 2 around the first axis of rotation Ri and the selective translation of joint 4 to promote the passage of shelf 2 between the operative and inoperative positions are no longer done through a single pin 22 (as in the case of the configuration in Figure 1 - 9), but rather these functions are delegated to a pair of pins 22, 22'.
[0258] Also in this case, the actuation means 31 have a spring 32 suitable for acting directly on the joint 4 so as to keep it in a standard position in which the first pin 22 is inserted into the first portion 28 of the seat 25.
[0259] In the configuration of board 1 illustrated in Figures 1 to 10, the first pin 22 is fixed, that is, pin 22 is integral to the support element 6 and cannot be moved during the use of the shelf (in this case, it is the joint 4 that is movable in translation and rotation in relation to pin 22). Also in the configuration of the board shown in Figure 10, both pins 22, 22' are fixed and integral to the support element 6 (the joint 4 is movable in translation and rotation in relation to these pins 22, 22').
[0260] Additional configurations of table 1 may be provided according to the invention, best illustrated in Figure 11 and Figure 12.
[0261] This different board configuration is of the type Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pp. 154 / 173 34 / 37 described above, except for the parts described in detail herein.
[0262] In these configurations, the use of a locking pin 47 and a single pin 22 mounted on the movable support element 6 is foreseen. The locking pin 47 is inserted within an opening 48 formed in the sleeve 9 to allow rotation of the joint 4 around the first axis of rotation Ri. The opening 48 also extends along a direction substantially parallel to the second portion 29 of the seat 25 so as to lock the joint with respect to translation along the first axis of rotation Ri.
[0263] The support element 6 may comprise a single 45 groove or a pair of 45 grooves extending along a direction substantially parallel to the first axis of rotation Ri.
[0264] The grooves 45 can be obtained in the vicinity of the end 7 of the support element 6 connected to the joint 4.
[0265] Pin 22 is inserted through the support element 6 through at least one of the slots 45. Said pin 22 has an upper protruding portion 24 intended to be inserted through the slot 25 and possibly protrude from it, if a recess is provided.
[0266] In the configuration shown in Figure 11, pin 22 is mounted in bushing 36 and can slide within a single groove 45 formed in the support element 6. Thus, in this configuration, pin 22 is movable relative to the support element 6.
[0267] The sliding of pin 22 in groove 45 can be selective, as this pin 22 can translate along a direction parallel to the first axis of rotation Ri due to the action exerted on it by the actuating means 31.
[0268] Specifically, spring 32 has one end 33 interacting with joint 4 and an opposite end interacting with bushing 36 (integrated into pin 22).
[0269] Therefore, the action of spring 32 will be such that it will promote the application of an outward force on pin 22, so as to maintain this Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pages 155 / 173 35 / 37 last within the first portion 28 of seat 25.
[0270] In the configuration of the invention illustrated in Figure 11, the actuation means 31 allow the molded recess 38 to be made; for this reason, the selective insertion of the pin 22 within the second portion 29 of the recess 25 will be promoted when, as a result of the rotation of the shelf 2 around the second axis of rotation R2 and the consequent interaction of the outer surface 30 of the pin 22 with the guide surfaces 40, the spring 32 is compressed and the pin 22 slides within the groove 45) so as to position itself within the second portion 29 of the recess 25).
[0271] The configuration of board 1 shown in Figure 12 is described below.
[0272] In this case, a pair of openings 45 is provided, and the pin 22 has a portion of the lower end 46 that projects from the support element 6 and is intended to be gripped by the user. The latter can promote the sliding movement of the pin 22 within the grooves 45 with respect to a direction parallel to the first axis of rotation R1.
[0273] In this way, the selective insertion of the upper protruding portion 24 of the pin 22 within the first portion 28 or second portion 29 of the seat 25 will be promoted directly by the user through the translation of the pin 25 within the grooves 45 between the two limit positions defined by them.
[0274] Specifically, pin 22 is inserted into the first portion 28 of seat 25 when it is in the furthest limit position relative to the second axis of rotation R2, while it is inserted into the second portion 29 of seat 25 when it is in the closest limit position relative to the second axis of rotation R2.
[0275] Therefore, in the configuration of board 1 shown in Figure 11, the insertion of pin 22 into the first portion 28 or the second portion 29 of seat 25 does not occur automatically during the rotation of shelf 2 around the second axis of rotation R2, as described in the configurations of Figures 1 9. Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pages 156 / 173 36 / 37
[0276] In fact, in this case, the passage of pin 22 within the first portion 28 or the second portion 29 of the seat 25 occurs manually as a result of the translation promoted in pin 22 itself by the user who previously grasped the lower extreme portion 46 of pin 22.
[0277] In this configuration, moreover, recess 2 may be devoid of guide walls 40 and comprise only a travel wall interacting with the upper end portion 24 of pin 22 so as to determine an end stop in the rotation of shelf 2 around the second axis of rotation R2.
[0278] In the board configuration shown in Figure 12, the joint 4 is fixed with respect to the support element 6, and the only moving element is the pin 22. In other words, the pin 22 is movable with respect to the support element 6.
[0279] The spring 32 of the restraining means 31 then acts on the pin 22 exerting on it a force suitable to keep its upper end portion 24 within the first portion 28 of the seat 25.
[0280] When the user intends to promote the sliding of pin 25 within the grooves 45 (in order to insert the upper end portion 24 of pin 22 into the second portion 29 of the seat 25), he must overcome the opposing resistance offered by spring 32, while the passage of pin 22 from the second portion 29 of the seat 25 to the first portion 28 of the seat 25 can be substantially automatic due to the spring force exerted by spring 32 on pin 22 itself.
[0281] Figures 13 to 16 illustrate some mounting configurations of the board described above in a chair frame provided with a seating area that is substantially symmetrical with respect to a centerline plane M.
[0282] The configuration in Figure 13 illustrates a connection of board 1 to the chair frame made by means of a straight support element 6, devoid of sections 15 and 16 and rigidly connected to the frame itself. Petition 870250091610, dated 07 / 10 / 2025, pages 157 / 173 37 / 37 chair.
[0283] In this case, shelf 2 can only rotate with respect to two axes: the first axis of rotation Ri and the second axis of rotation R2.
[0284] In the version shown in Figure 14, board 1 is connected to the chair frame by means of a support element 6 consisting of one of sections 15 and 16 mounted so as to be rotatable with respect to the fourth axis of rotation R4.
[0285] In the version shown in Figure 15, board 1 is connected to the chair frame by means of a support element 6 consisting of one of sections 15 and 16 mounted so as to be rotatable with respect to the fourth axis of rotation R3.
[0286] In this case, shelf 2 can rotate with respect to the first axis of rotation R1, with respect to the second axis of rotation R2 and with respect to the fourth axis of rotation R3.
[0287] Finally, in the version shown in Figure 16, the connection to the chair frame of a board 1 of the type shown in Figure 1 is schematized. For this reason, in this version, the shelf 2 can rotate selectively around all axes of rotation R1 - R4.
[0288] The present invention is realizable in other variants, all within the scope of the inventive features claimed and described; these technical features can be replaced by different technically equivalent elements and materials used; the shapes and sizes of the invention can be any, provided they are compatible with its use.
