Description

1 / 5 Improved bumper for heavy vehicles. Technical Sector

[001] The Present Utility Model relates to a bumper of a heavy vehicle, which, for example, could be a truck or a bus. State of the Art known

[002] Heavy wheeled vehicles, such as trucks and buses, contain a front and rear bumper system, configured to deform in the event of a collision in order to absorb the elastic energy resulting from this event. This absorption reduces the impact transmitted to the chassis and, therefore, to the driver / passengers inside the vehicle's cabin.

[003] As is also widely known, bumpers are composed of several walls attached to the vehicle's chassis and have an aesthetically pleasing shape, which, above all, defines the character of the vehicle. This requirement is increasingly noticeable, and the style of the vehicle is one of the characteristics that most influence its purchase.

[004] Another feature of the vehicle that influences the style is the headlights, both front and rear. These elements, moreover, have a specific technical function, that is, to ensure proper illumination.

[005] In order to maintain a proper style, many headlights are normally fitted into the inner walls of the bumper, thus defining its outline. However, in the event of breakage or the need to perform maintenance on the headlight, it becomes necessary to disassemble the walls that surround it.

[006] It is therefore clear that there is a need to provide a bumper that allows the headlight to be replaced quickly and easily, without having to give up the style requirements defined by the bumper itself.

[007] The scope of the present utility model is to satisfy the requirements listed above. Summary of the present Model

[008] The aforementioned objective is achieved by a bumper 2 for vehicles that Petition 870200159483, dated 12 / 21 / 2020, page 7 / 17 2 / 5 define an opening 3 configured to house a headlight of said vehicle, comprising at least one wall 5 which defines at least one said opening 3, said wall being connected to a fixed element of said bumper 2 by means of a movable link 6, said link 6 allowing said wall 5 to assume a first closed configuration, which delimits part of said opening 3 and a second open configuration, which allows access from the outside of said opening 3, said bumper 2 containing selective coupling means 8, configured to keep said wall 5 in said closed position and to allow opening when a force is applied to it in an outward direction, said selective coupling means 8 being made between a lateral edge 5a of said wall 5 adjacent to said central portion 2a of said bumper 2.

[009] In a particular form, the bumper 2 contains a central portion 2a and a pair of lateral portions 2b, each of said lateral portions 2b containing, each one, a respective opening 3 delimited from a respective wall 5, said wall 5 being connected by means of said movable link 6.

[0010] In a preferred embodiment, each of said side portions 2b comprises an upper wall 4 with respect to said opening 3 and a lower wall 5 with respect to said opening 3, said lower wall 5 being connected by means of said movable connection 6.

[0011] Advantageously, the movable link 6 contains a hinge 7 and is preferably movably connected 6 and carried along a lateral edge 5a of said wall 5 opposite said central portion 2a of said bumper 2.

[0012] The aforementioned scope is attached to a vehicle 1 comprising a bumper 2 as described above. Brief description of the drawings

[0013] For a better understanding of the present model, a preferred embodiment is described below, by way of non-limiting example, and with reference to the attached drawings, to which: Figure 1 is an illustrative projection view of a vehicle comprising a bumper according to the present model; Petition 870200159483, dated 12 / 21 / 2020, page 8 / 17 3 / 5 Figure 2a is a front view of a part of the bumper from Figure 1 in an initial operational condition; and Figure 2b is a front view of the bumper from Figure 2a in a second operating condition. Detailed Description of the Present Model

[0014] Figure 1 illustrates a vehicle 1 containing a bumper 2 of the known type, in this case, a front bumper is illustrated.

[0015] In the illustrated case, the bumper 2 contains a central portion 2a and a pair of lateral portions 2b. In particular, the lateral portions 2b define each of the spaces 3 configured to house a headlight, not shown, of vehicle 1.

[0016] Referring, for convenience, to figures 2a and 2b, in the embodiment which is illustrated, the opening 3 for the headlight of vehicle 1 is delimited vertically by an upper side wall 4 and a lower side wall 5, while laterally it is delimited, on one side, by the central portion 2a of the bumper 2 and by the lower side wall 5 on the other side.

[0017] In the case described, it should also be noted that on this latter side, between the lower and upper side walls 5, 4, there is an undefined space, purely for stylistic reasons. It is clear, therefore, that the opening 3 can have any shape that is desired, essentially delimited from the aforementioned side walls 4, 5 and the central portion 2a of the bumper 2.

[0018] According to the present model, at least one of the upper and lower side walls 4, 5 is movably connected to the vehicle chassis 1, that is, to the bumper 2, in such a way that a first, closed configuration can be assumed, in which the side wall 4, 5 delimits, at least partially, the opening 3 and a second, open configuration, in which access to the opening 3 from the outside can be obtained.

[0019] Advantageously, the lower side wall 5 is movably connected while the upper side wall 4 is fixed with respect to the chassis 2.

[0020] In one particular way, the bumper 2 contains a movable link 6 configured in such a way as to allow the passage of the lower side wall 5 of the first Petition 870200159483, dated 12 / 21 / 2020, p. 9 / 17 4 / 5 operational configuration to the second operational configuration with respect to bumper 2.

[0021] According to the shape that is polished, the movable link 6 is carried along a lateral edge 5a of the lower wall 5, advantageously, the opposite lateral edge with respect to the central portion 2a of the bumper 2.

[0022] Advantageously, the movable link 6 contains a hinge 7, in the case described, a hinge that allows rotation around the vertical axis perpendicular to the ground.

[0023] Preferably, vehicle 1 also contains selective coupling means 8 configured to allow selective and reversible coupling of the side wall 5 with the bumper 2, i.e., the vehicle chassis.

[0024] Always referring to the case described, the selective coupling means 8 are carried out along a lateral edge 5b of the lower side wall 5, advantageously the lateral edge adjacent to the central portion 2a of the bumper 2.

[0025] Preferably, such selective coupling means 8 contain a form coupling between the lateral edge of the lower lateral portion 5 and the central portion 2a.

[0026] The operation of the embodiment of bumper 2 described above is as follows.

[0027] In a normal operating condition of the vehicle 1 headlight, that is, when there is no need to disassemble the latter, the lower wall 5 remains in the closed configuration of figure 2a, maintained by the selective coupling means 8.

[0028] In the event of a condition requiring maintenance or replacement of the vehicle headlight 1, the lower side wall 5 can be tightened, thus acting on the selective coupling means 8, causing it to rotate around the hinge 6. In this way, the vehicle user has space to replace the headlight without having to disassemble and reassemble the side wall 5 on the bumper 2.

[0029] In the case described, since the selective coupling means are 8 of Petition 870200159483, dated 12 / 21 / 2020, page 10 / 17 5 / 5 couplings in the same way, it is sufficient for the user to press or pull the side edge 5b, in such a way that the latter is unhooked from the central portion 2a of the bumper 2.

[0030] From what has been stated, the advantages of a bumper 2 according to the present model are evident.

[0031] Thanks to the movable wall 5, it is possible to free up the space in front of the headlight housed in the opening 3, thus allowing its replacement.

[0032] The use of a hinge 7 as the movable linking means 6 joined to selective coupling means 8 allows the movable wall 5 to be opened and closed in a compact, fast and economical way.

[0033] It is therefore clear that bumper 2 according to the present model may receive modifications and variations, without, however, departing from the scope of protection defined by the attached claims.

[0034] For example, it is clear that the opening 3 and the shape of the walls 4 or 5 or of the central portion 2a may undergo variations.

[0035] It is still clear that the movable wall can be taken to any portion of the bumper 2.

[0036] Finally, it is clear that mobile linking means 6 and selective coupling 8 of any type desired can be used. Petition 870200159483, dated 12 / 21 / 2020, p. 11 / 17
