Description
1 / 2 “Improved Protection Relay”.
[01] This utility model patent refers to a power distribution line protection relay that features a new form of operation and configuration with greater operational ease.
[02] The known protection relays used in the field have limitations in their configuration and upgrading, considering two aspects: their location where they are installed, usually in elevated locations, and the configuration and upgrading methods currently used.
[03] Operators of this equipment use safety equipment, particularly gloves which in certain situations make it difficult to access touchpad-type buttons.
[04] Another difficulty lies in the fact that currently it is generally necessary to physically connect the protection relay to an external device in order to perform configuration or update of the device, which for an external device implies a more complex operation.
[05] The purpose of the utility model patent is to combine multiple accesses to the equipment when there is a need to configure or update the firmware, while ensuring the safety of the operation.
[06] The objective of the present patent is to provide a protection relay with a wide range of adjustments and with the possibility of being expanded by the introduction of additional internal boards, including the expansion of the box that receives the assembly.
[07] Another objective is to provide a combination of touch-sensitive display and touchpad keys that ensure the watertightness of the equipment and that allow configuration and monitoring directly on the equipment, which is easy to operate due to its visual appearance that facilitates viewing.

[09] Fig. 1: Front face of the equipment showing keys and touch display and physical data inputs:
[10] According to the attached drawing of the protection relay, the utility face of the equipment has areas that include, in a grouped manner, sets of keys associated with LEDs (1), a set of keys (2), a touch screen display (3).
[11] The lower region receives the physical USB type A (4) and USB type B (5) inputs which have a sliding door to protect the exterior.
[12] The ports can be used for direct connection to a computer, or to receive a pen drive, or the equipment can be accessed remotely via Wi-Fi when available.
[13] The new form of the utility model applied to equipment with this configuration allows for better use and better configuration and upgrade conditions. Petition 870250050533, dated 06 / 16 / 2025, p. 6 / 7
