Description

1 / 2 Descriptive Report: Gingival Scalpel

[001] This invention is a dental instrument, specifically designed for gingival procedures. The primary objective is to provide a scalpel capable of controlling, with high precision, both the width and depth of the tissue to be removed, performing this operation in a single incision. Contemporary procedures for gingival tissue removal utilize techniques that rely on conventional scalpels, and these methodologies are heavily based on empirical adjustments, which makes rigorous control of the width and depth of the removed tissue unfeasible.

[002] This limitation often results in inconsistent results, unnecessary exposure of underlying bone, and inadvertent removal of healthy tissue. There is an urgent need for a device that enables dental professionals to perform, with a high degree of precision, control over the width and depth of the gingival tissue to be removed; this includes minimizing the risk of excessive or inappropriate removals, while simplifying and reducing the duration of the surgical procedure.

[003] The present patent application may be better understood through the following detailed descriptions of the attached figure, Figure 1 Shows an exploded view of the Gingival Scalpel which presents itself as an innovative solution by integrating (1) blades changeable according to the needs of the procedure with widths Petition 870250079372, dated 04 / 09 / 2025, p. 5 / 14 2 / 2 preset (5 mm, 7 mm or 10 mm) and (2) An integrated depth marker set to measure and limit the depth of the incision in increments of 0.5 mm up to a maximum of 3.5 mm (3) a holder for inserting a scalpel handle, the blade can be adjusted to widen or narrow the width of the incision, thus removing only the amount of tissue needed and avoiding possible errors in the procedure, (4), blade tip (5) top view of the changeable blade.

[004] This described mechanism avoids unnecessary bone exposure and minimizes damage to surrounding tissues. The invention has the advantages of precise control of the width and depth of tissue removal, significant reduction in surgery time and lower risk of postoperative complications, optimized preservation of healthy tissues and protection of bone structures, cleaner, more predictable and effective procedures.

[005] The gingival scalpel is intended for: Gingivoplasty and specialized periodontal procedures. Removal of gingival tissue in highly complex aesthetic and functional interventions, thus providing greater ease in surgical procedures. Petition 870250079372, dated 04 / 09 / 2025, page 6 / 14
