Description
1 / 5 “IMPROVEMENT IN WASHING MACHINES TO FILTER AND REUSE WASH WATER”
[001] The present utility model relates to an improvement to be implemented in washing machines with application in the area of automatic washing devices for fabrics and clothing to reuse, by means of filtration, the water discarded in a previous wash in order to allow more than ten washing cycles with the filtered and reused water.
[002] Currently there are several options for washing machines and, among the improvements, they may come with a clothes drying system and a stage for programmed removal of dirty water so that it can be used for other purposes. However, no systems were found that collect, filter and reuse the water used in the previous wash. The following are known examples: the "method for controlling the reuse of water in a washing machine" discussed in document US10711383B2 (and CN105734895A), which presents a double drum system for separate washes; the "method for reusing water in cleaning devices and washing machines", US2008148784A1, which presents a regeneration of used water, containing an adsorbent, adding a step containing an electrolytic solution for water treatment and cleaning; and, another example, the "washing machine that allows the reuse of washing water and rinsing water", WO2006010340A1, in this case, it is an improvement in a washing machine equipping it with a dehydrating tank capable of cleaning and reusing water.
[003] There are also other equivalent solutions, but none that allow for adaptation or adjustment to existing machines or that have a compact system that can be incorporated into washing machine designs without significantly increasing complexity, price and Petition 870250004720, dated 01 / 21 / 2025, p. 6 / 21 2 / 5 machine size. For example, it is noticeable that there are solutions that incorporate a very large extra tank which causes a significant increase in the overall size of the washing machine and, consequently, requires a much larger space for its installation.
[004] In order to solve these limitations, the present utility model was developed, which is an improvement to be added to washing machines in order to allow the discarded water to be optionally directed to a specific reservoir which, in turn, is equipped with an additional drainage pump capable of forcing the contents through a filter assembly (filter and pre-filter) and reusing the water. In this last stage, after filtration, the water will be released into the water receiving pipe that will be introduced into the laundry basket to be washed. It is thus possible to perform more than ten water reuse cycles while maintaining the integrity and durability of the filter elements. It is worth noting that these filters can be checked and replaced when necessary.
[005] The utility model can be better understood through the following description in conjunction with the attached figures, where:
[006] FIGURE 1 represents a perspective view of a complete washing machine from the outside, highlighting one of the sides (left), the top and the front.
[007] FIGURE 2 represents a perspective view of the complete machine and exterior highlighting the rear, the top and one of the sides (right).
[008] FIGURE 3 represents a partially exploded view of the machine, highlighting the top or cover frame (containing the cover and Petition 870250004720, dated 01 / 21 / 2025, page 7 / 21 3 / 5 control panel) and revealing the laundry basket and the tank with support brackets.
[009] FIGURES 4 and 5 represent a perspective equivalent to Figure 2, but highlighting some fastening components such as the pipe support and the filter support.
[010] FIGURE 6 shows a top and front view of the machine without the top cover frame and highlighting the fastening points (screws and nuts).
[011] FIGURE 7 presents a top and rear view equivalent to Figure 6.
[012] FIGURE 8 presents a partially exploded and isometric view highlighting the basket and tank with support brackets.
[013] FIGURE 9 represents an exploded view highlighting the agitator, basket and tank with machine support brackets.
[014] FIGURE 10 represents a bottom-up and side view of the tank with support brackets highlighting the double support arm suspension.
[015] FIGURE 11 represents a perspective of the metal cabinet highlighting the horizontal stabilizing springs and the double arm suspensions.
[016] FIGURE 12 presents an isometric perspective of the washing machine without the internal drum and tank, revealing the water reservoir, the filter, the water pump, the water overflow and the communication pipes between the “towers” of the water reservoir.
[017] FIGURE 13 is equivalent to Figure 12, but in front and right side isometric perspective of the machine, highlighting the water reservoir and communication pipes. Petition 870250004720, dated 01 / 21 / 2025, page 8 / 21 4 / 5
[018] FIGURE 14 presents a view similar to Figure 12, but without the external metal cabinet, thus revealing the water reservoir and its four “towers”.
[019] FIGURE 15 presents a view similar to Figure 13, but without the external metal cabinet, thus highlighting the water reservoir and its four “towers”.
[020] With reference to the figures, one can observe the control panel with rotary knob(1), the cover(2), the top(3) with cover frame, metal cabinet(4), water overflow(5), “grey” water intake pipe(6) from the machine, water filter(7), water pump(8), water transport pipe(9), tank(10) with support brackets, basket(11), pipe support(12), screws(13), transmission(14), filter support(15), nuts(16), water reservoir(17), agitator(18), horizontal stabilizing springs(19), double support arm suspensions(20), electric motor(21), electric motor fixing support(22), “V” transmission belt(23) and the communication pipes(24) between the reservoir towers(17). Other parts were not highlighted in the figures.
[021] The reservoir(17) will be installed around the washing basket(11) and fixed (statically) to the washing machine structure, in the tank(10) with support brackets and in the metal cabinet(4). The additional drain water pump(8) will serve to transport the dirty water to the filter(7), also providing pressure so that the used water is filtered. The filter(7) can be checked and replaced when necessary.
[022] An example of operation would be, after a wash, dirty water, instead of being discarded, would be directed to the reservoir(17) which, by means of the pump(8), would make the liquid pass through the filter(7). After being filtered the liquid would be directed to the piping of Petition 870250004720, dated 01 / 21 / 2025, page 9 / 21 5 / 5 reception and would be placed back into the washing basket for reuse.
[023] It is possible to achieve more than ten filtration and reuse cycles of the same water, however we suggest renewing the water through the distribution network or another clean, potable and treated source, for faster machine operation and greater filter durability.
