Description
1 / 4 IMPROVEMENT INTRODUCED IN QUICK-RELEASE CONNECTOR FIELD OF APPLICATION: 1. The aforementioned product, whose protection will be claimed in this report, was developed with the intention of addressing deficiencies, alleviating difficulties, and solving problems previously encountered by users in the air sports sector, more specifically in the areas of paramotor flying, paratrike flying, hang gliding, and other activities that utilize harnesses or flight chairs. INTRODUCTION: 2. This utility model patent application refers to a quick-release connector, whose function is to provide quick and safe disconnection of the pilot from the harness or flight chair in emergency situations, such as falls into water. 3. The difficulty in disconnecting from conventional connectors in emergency situations, especially in water, has contributed to serious accidents, including drownings. The need for a quick and effective solution to this problem motivated the development of the quick-release connector. 4. The aforementioned product stands out primarily for its practicality, simplicity, and functionality in quickly releasing the pilot, possessing unique, exclusive, and innovative functional aspects, which will be described below, making it an exclusive product in the market. CHARACTERISTICS: 5. The product in question, presented in this report, consists of: a central circular connector (1), made of metal, with a rotating drive mechanism (1.1); five peripheral connectors (2), also made of metal, which fit into the central connector; attachment cords (3) that connect the peripheral connectors to the straps of the harnesses or flight chairs; a locking mechanism on the central actuator (4) (optional) to prevent unintentional activation; the five peripheral connectors are arranged radially around the central connector, to which they connect via an internal mechanism; the Petition 870250015643, dated 26 / 02 / 2025, page 5 / 16 Two-quarter of the harness cords are attached to the peripheral connectors and, at the other end, to the harness straps. FIGURES: 6. Initially, to better demonstrate these characteristics, and aiming for a clear and objective understanding of the provisions applied in this utility model, a drawing and flowchart will be presented for illustrative purposes, making reference to the attached report. 7. FIGURE 1 illustrates, in perspective view, the product containing a central circular connector (1), made of metal, with a rotary drive mechanism (1.1); five peripheral connectors (2) and a locking mechanism on the central drive (4). 8. FIGURE 2 illustrates, in perspective view, the product containing a central circular connector (1), made of metal, with a rotary drive mechanism (1.1); five peripheral connectors (2) and a locking mechanism on the central drive (4). 9. FIGURE 3 illustrates, in perspective view, the product containing a central circular connector (1), made of metal, with a rotary drive mechanism (1.1); five peripheral connectors (2) and a locking mechanism on the central drive (4). 10. It should be clarified that the images above illustrate the product in a demonstrative and non-restrictive manner, whose design may vary in terms of its measurements, raw materials, dimensions, etc., without logically deviating from the main scope for which protection is claimed. FUNCTIONALITY: 11. Initially, the aforementioned product, described in this report, will be used in the free flight, paramotor, paratrike, and other aerial sports sectors that utilize harnesses. 12. The pilot connects to the harness via the attachment cords fixed to the peripheral connectors. In case of emergency, simply rotate the central connector. This action simultaneously releases the five peripheral connectors, disconnecting the pilot from the harness quickly and safely. The safety lock on the actuator, if present, prevents accidental activation. 13. The product is a kind of 5-point harness, where a central connector, already used in racing vehicles, is adapted to replace the connecting straps of flight harnesses or chairs; lately we have had several deaths due to pilots falling into the water, and Petition 870250015643, dated 26 / 02 / 2025, page 6 / 16 Since 3 / 4 of the harnesses are unable to detach from the current connectors, our quick-release system will replace the conventional ones, and by needing to be activated in seconds, the pilot can detach from all the equipment. INNOVATION: 14. In general terms, the aforementioned product represents a solution with regard to safety in air sports, offering a quick release mechanism in emergency situations. 15. Product innovations include a quick and simultaneous disconnection system for the five connection points, activated by a single rotary movement on the central connector, and the option to include a safety lock to prevent unintentional activation. 16. This system differs from those existing in the skydiving and aviation markets, which use different and more complex mechanisms. The quick-release connector offers a simpler, lighter, and more effective solution for aerial sports that use harnesses. 17. This is a unique, exclusive and innovative product, highly reliable and recommended for use in emergency situations, and will certainly be a major differentiator for the sector it is intended for. DESCRIPTION OF THE STATE OF THE ART: 18. During the development of the aforementioned product, numerous studies were conducted to identify any prior or related products. However, these surveys did not reveal the existence of any other product with the same predominant technical or functional characteristics. 19. The search found processes that superficially mention the combination, in whole or in part, of the words "quick-release connector," such as PI 0602467-0 and PI 9805373-6; however, these processes describe simpler products with compositions different from that claimed in the present patent application. 20. Patent PI 9805373-6 describes a device for automatic seatbelt release with a timer. In emergency situations, the device automatically disengages the seatbelt, preventing the user from being trapped in the vehicle and at risk of death, especially in cases where manual release is impossible. Petition 870250015643, dated 26 / 02 / 2025, page 7 / 16 4 / 4 21. Patent PI 0602467-0 deals with a redundant / verification coupling for quick-action connectors. The mechanism includes an additional coupling that verifies the complete insertion of the connector before locking it, ensuring safety. Furthermore, it has a locking cushion system that prevents accidental release of the connector even under tension. 22. Additionally, the searches conducted did not reveal a system with a 5-point harness mechanism that allows the pilot to quickly and safely release the harness in an emergency situation. 23. In response to this need and commercial opportunity, the aforementioned product was created, more precisely the quick-release connector, whose function is to provide rapid disconnection in emergencies. 24. Therefore, in accordance with Article 9 of the Industrial Property Law No. 9.279 / 96 and considering all aspects presented in this report, the object of this patent application deserves protection as a Utility Model, which is hereby requested.
