AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

The existing fastening method for draper platform cutter bars, relying on a single central screw, is ineffective against high vibrations, leading to play or loosening, which can cause buckling and misalignment.

Method used

A double-threaded bushing and an Allen screw are used to provide double locking, allowing lateral articulation and preventing the cutter bar support from loosening, while facilitating easy disassembly for maintenance.

Benefits of technology

The solution ensures secure attachment, reduces play and misalignment, and allows for easy maintenance without replacing the entire assembly.

Description

1 / 4 Draper Platform Cutting Bar Mounting Assembly

[01] The present utility model describes a draper platform cutter bar fastening assembly that allows lateral articulation, providing greater flexibility, eliminating existing gaps between the cutter bar support and the cross arm and providing double locking achieved through a double threaded bushing and an Allen screw, preventing the cutter bar support from coming loose during operation.

[02] Draper platforms comprise a combine harvester head that offers excellence in cutting, feeding, and productivity, with reduced losses, operational savings, versatility on the terrain, and better financial results for the producer. It features a unique central conveyor belt that ensures a constant and efficient flow of material to the combine harvester with a central knife box and generally support via air bags, which provides greater durability and better ground grip. For cutting plant stems, a set of knives mounted on a flexible bar is provided, allowing it to follow the terrain.

[03] The fastening mechanism of this flexible bar consists of a welded assembly, in which a formed plate is mounted. This assembly is fixed to the central arm assembly by means of a central screw, which passes through both the structure of the welded assembly and the formed plate, in addition to lateral screws that fasten the structure of the welded assembly to the central arm assembly. The flexible bar, in turn, is fixed to this structure through the holes in the formed plate. Petition 870250087346, dated 09 / 26 / 2025, page 8 / 19 2 / 4

[04] However, due to the high vibrations in the knife assembly, this method of fastening — with only one central screw in the welded assembly — proves ineffective, resulting in play or even the welded assembly coming loose from the central arm assembly.

[05] In order to improve the fastening of the cutter bar of a draper platform — preventing it from coming loose or exhibiting excessive play that could cause buckling and misalignment — the Applicant has developed a new fastening assembly. This fastening assembly allows lateral articulation of the cutter bar, eliminates play between the cutter bar support and the crossbar, and ensures double locking, achieved by means of a double-threaded bushing and an Allen screw, preventing the cutter bar support from coming loose during operation. Additionally, disassembly for maintenance and replacement of components is facilitated, without the need to replace the entire fastening assembly.

[06] In order to better describe the draper platform cutting bar attachment assembly, the following figures are presented:

[07] Figure 1A shows an exploded view of the cutting bar attachment assembly on the draper platform.

[08] Figure 1B shows a detailed view of the support plate where the bushings (50) and (60) are fixed.

[09] Figure 2 shows the top view of the assembled fastening unit.

[010] Figure 3 shows the AA cross-sectional view.

[011] Figure 4 shows an enlarged view of the fastening assembly detail. Petition 870250087346, dated 09 / 26 / 2025, page 9 / 19 3 / 4

[012] Figure 5 shows a top view of the draper platform with the cutting bar attachment assembly.

[013] Figure 6 shows an enlarged cutaway view of the draper platform.

[014] Figure 7 shows a detailed view of the fastening assembly.

[015] Conventionally, on the lower front edge of the draper platform (100) there is a cutting bar (20) fitted with a set of knives (21) operated by a mechanical or hydraulic system for cutting the plant stems, which are subsequently conveyed by the platform's conveyor belts (side belts (110) and central belt (120)) to the harvester's feeder (130).

[016] On the draper platform (100) are arranged crossbars (10) fixed to the rear beam (140a) and to the front beam (140b) of the chassis (100).

[017] The cutting bar (20) is fixed to the front end of the crossbar (10), where the knives (21) are positioned. For fixing, a support with a bushing (30) is provided, into which a double-threaded bushing (internal and external) (60) is coupled, which in turn connects to a support plate (11) located on the front end of the crossbar (10).

[018] Additionally, a hexagonal head bushing with internal thread (50) is coupled to the double-threaded bushing (60), keeping the crossbar (10) fixed between the support (30) and said double-threaded bushing (60). This coupling is completed with an Allen screw (70) that is mounted in the hole of the bushing (50) and threaded into the inside of the bushing (60), providing locking of the assembly. Petition 870250087346, dated 09 / 26 / 2025, page 10 / 19 4 / 4

[019] With this form of attachment, the cutting bar (20) can move in the horizontal plane, between right and left. Petition 870250087346, dated 09 / 26 / 2025, page 11 / 19
