Abstract
Description
Descriptive Report of the Invention Patent for "PRESSURE REGULATOR". State of the art The present invention relates to a pressure regulator, especially for a fuel supply assembly of an internal combustion engine, for regulating liquid pressure. It contains a valve that includes a valve closing component and, by the action of an angularly configured valve leaf spring, is pressed against a valve seat in the closed position. One arm of the valve leaf spring rests on the valve closing component, while the other arm rests on a support component of a regulator housing. The valve leaf spring, in the region of its angular shape, is fastened to a pin integrated within the regulator housing. The mounting of the pin within the regulator housing has perforations in the side walls of the regulator housing that surround the valve leaf spring at parallel distances and extend essentially perpendicularly to the pin.according to the preamble of claim 1., A pressure regulator of this type is described in document DE 101 07 223 A1, wherein the valve leaf spring is mounted in such an articulated manner by means of a pin that a torque balance prevails on the valve leaf spring. The valve leaf spring, supported by the regulator housing support component, is intended to act as a closing force on the closing component. In this case, the pin acts as a mounting point that transfers the forces acting on the valve leaf spring to the regulator housing. When a fuel pressure prevails at a pressure regulator inlet that is sufficiently high to generate a greater tension force compared to the closing force acting on the valve ball, the closing component is lifted from the valve seat, releasing a certain cross-section of passage, so that a particularly combustible liquid can pass through. flow to a pressure outlet of the pressure regulator. Advantages of the invention By overlapping the support component plates with the side walls, the regulator housing is reinforced without increasing its wall thickness. Specifically, through the plates and the pin, the regulator housing support component, subjected to a bending moment by the valve leaf spring, is fastened to the side walls, thus stiffening it in the direction of the load. The side walls, together with the support component plates, then form a reinforcing triangle. The pin, which is actually designed to retain the valve blade spring, that is, to deflect the molar forces of the blade, also serves another function: it forms a closed connection due to its shape and a force transfer mechanism between the support component plates and the side walls, without the need for the support component plates and side walls to be additionally interconnected, for example, by welding or riveting, which would, incidentally, result in higher production costs. As a result, the overall assembly is quite rigid and within the dimensions of the pin relative to the valve closing component, which advantageously increases the reliability and functional safety of the pressure regulator. If, instead of the dimensions according to the invention, for example, grooves were provided in the region of the support component of the side walls for stiffening, then this would imply material deformation that would hinder the exact positioning of the pin in relation to the valve closing component. The measures indicated in the dependent claims make possible advantageous expansions and improvements of the invention described in claim 1. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the support component's plates come into contact with the side walls and overlap from the outside or inside. Additionally, the valve support component is formed, for example, by a transverse wall or... The regulator housing is constructed with plates that are integral to this transverse wall, from which they project at a perpendicular angle. Furthermore, the side walls of the regulator housing are preferably formed by two other plates, projecting from a bottom section and freely extending. In this case, the regulator housing can be configured as a one-piece stamped bending component, advantageously manufactured in this way, where, after stamping a flat profiled part, perforations are provided, and then it is only necessary to flange the four plates perpendicularly. According to an expanded embodiment of this form, the plates that form the side walls of the regulator housing and / or the plates of the transverse wall form a conduit for the valve leaf spring. With this measure, rigid guidance of the valve leaf spring is possible, which has a positive effect on the functional safety reliability of the pressure regulator. Also, in order to ensure a rigid and reliable assembly of the valve leaf spring, the transverse wall of the regulator housing is additionally curved at the end towards the valve leaf spring and penetrates a flanged section similar to a groove in the valve leaf spring. Preferably, the valve closing component consists of a valve ball, disposed between the valve seat and one of the arms of the valve leaf spring, with a damping ring integrated between the valve ball and one of the arms of the valve leaf spring. This damping ring may have a circular cross-section, consisting of a plastic ring, and provide damping of vibrations incident on this region of the valve ball, which has a positive effect on the functional safety and noise behavior of the pressure regulator. Specifically, the damping ring may consist of a part produced from synthetic material by machining with chip removal or by injection molding. In both cases, the pro- The production and assembly of the damper ring is extremely simple, because they are simply circular and round components, and it is only necessary to position them between the valve leaf spring and the valve ball, without the valve leaf spring or the valve ball having to be altered. Designs An example of an embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing and explained in more detail in the following description. The figures show: Figure 1 - a cross-sectional representation of a preferred embodiment of a pressure regulator according to the invention; Figure 2 - a top view of the pressure regulator from Figure 1. Description of the execution example The pressure regulator designated in Figure 1 with the number 1, where it is represented in a closed position, according to a preferred embodiment, is mounted in a tank or filter, not shown for scale reasons, of a motor vehicle and serves to regulate the fuel pressure in the fuel system of a self-ignition combustion engine. The pressure regulator 1 has an open regulator housing 2 with an L-shaped cross-section, positioned on a dome (not shown for better visibility) within which is configured a pressure outlet 4 (indicated only by an arrow), connecting an internal compartment 6 of the regulator housing 2 to the fuel tank. On the bottom side, a connecting piece 10 projects into the regulator housing 2, forming a pressure inlet 8, which is coupled to a fuel system pressure pipe (not shown). The regulator housing 2 is preferably a one-piece, stamped, bent piece in which the connecting piece 10 is integrated. Alternatively, the regulator housing 2 could also be produced as a cast and injection-molded piece. At the end of the connecting piece 10 is disposed a valve seat 12 with a conical face for centering a valve ball 18. Instead of being configured directly in the connecting piece 10, the valve seat 12 can also be configured in the regulator housing 2. In this case, the regulator housing 2 and the valve seat 12 are configured, for example, as a single jet casting and subjected to machining with chip removal. The conical angle of the conical surface is, for example, 60°. Based on the action of a valve leaf spring 16, the valve ball 18 is forced against the valve seat 12. The valve leaf spring 16, the valve ball 18 and the valve seat 12 together form an overflow valve 20 of the pressure regulator 1. The valve ball 18 can consist of steel, ceramic or plastic. Its diameter will preferably be from 3mm to 12mm. Preferably, the valve leaf spring 16 has an angular shape, consisting of two arms 22, 24 essentially converging reciprocally in a rectangular direction, and can be rotated around an articulated axis integrated into the regulator housing 2, in the form of a pin 26, arranged transversely to the longitudinal projection of the leaf spring 16 and perpendicular to a plane containing the central axis 20 28 of the valve seat 12. The pin 26 extends beyond the valve leaf spring 16 and projects approximately into the region of the angular section of the valve leaf spring 16, that is, into the region of an imaginary junction line of the two arms 22, 24 of the leaf spring 16. The total length of the wound valve leaf spring will be, for example, from 10 to 40 mm, and its width from approximately 5 mm to 20 mm. The distance from the center shaft 28 to the valve seat 12 pin 26 will preferably be 8 to 35mm. Between the arm 22 of the leaf spring 16, on the valve seat side, which preferably projects perpendicularly to the central axis 28 of the valve seat 12, and the valve ball 18, which, with its apex, contacts the valve leaf spring 16, a damping ring 27 is integrated. More precisely, the valve ball 18 projects with a spherical segment of its projecting half-sphere in the direction of the spring. A valve blade 16 is inserted into an annular opening of the damper ring 27, and this unit is thus secured to the valve blade spring 16. The damper ring 27 preferably has a circular cross-section and is made of plastic. Specifically, the damper ring 27 may be formed from a basic plastic piece, produced by machining with chip removal or by injection molding, whose inner edge projecting towards the valve sphere 18 is provided, for example, with a face or has a bearing face in the form of a spherical layer, configured in a complementary direction with respect to the valve sphere 18. The damper ring 27, instead of being made of plastic, may also be made of another material, for example, steel or an elastomer. It is crucial that frictional forces are formed in the region between the damper ring 27, the valve leaf spring 16 and the valve ball 18, which, on the one hand, are sufficiently extensive to dampen vibratory movements of the valve ball 18, but on the other hand are not so great that the centering of the valve ball 18 in the valve seat 12 is impaired when closing the overflow valve 20. By supporting the arm 24 of the valve leaf spring 16 on a support component in the form of a transverse wall 30 projecting perpendicularly upwards from the bottom plate 29 of the regulator housing 2, the support of the other arm 22 on the valve ball 18, and by the passage of the valve leaf spring 16 by the pin 26 in the region of its angular section, a protective force is produced on the valve spring 16 which generates a force on the arm 22 on the valve side that displaces the valve ball 18 against the valve seat 12. The position of the pin 26, which holds the valve leaf spring 16 against the support forces of the transverse wall 30 and the valve ball 18, is also decisive in this case. Furthermore, the extension of the closing force, which by virtue of the protective force of the valve leaf spring 16 acts on the valve ball 18 as a reaction in the top section, results from the chosen lever ratios of the two arms 22 and 24.In the valve leaf spring 16, torque balance will then prevail. To achieve stable support of the arm 24 of the valve leaf spring 16 and to introduce the support force essentially perpendicularly to the arm 24 of the valve leaf spring 16, the transverse wall 30, for example, on the end side, is curved towards the valve leaf spring 16 and penetrates a chamfer 32 of the arm 24 of the valve leaf spring 16 also provided in the end section, similar to a groove and transverse projection. As the regulator housing 2 represents a single component, the transverse wall 30 is also a single piece with the bottom plate 29. The assembly of pin 26 within the regulator housing 2 is carried out on one side by perforations 34 which can be better seen in figure 2, produced in the valve leaf spring 16 with side walls with natural walls 36 of the regulator housing 2 of enveloping with parallel distance and essentially projected perpendicularly to the pin 26, and on the other side by respectively coaxial perforations 38 configured in these side walls 36, preferably on the outside, and which overlap in contact and with plates 40 joined with the transverse wall 30 of the regulator housing 2. These plates 40 are preferably configured in a one-piece manner with the transverse wall 30 and therefore with the regulator housing 2, being chamfered perpendicularly from the transverse wall 30.Instead of the side walls 36 being overlapped by the transverse wall 30 strips 40 on the outside, the strips 40 could also contact the side walls 36, therefore overlapping, that is, the strips 40 would be integrated within the side walls 36 and externally enveloped by them. Preferably, the side walls of the regulator housing 2 will also be formed by two other plates 36 that project freely from the bottom plate 29, being chamfered, as can be better seen in figure 1. Between a segment of the plates 36 that projects towards the transverse wall 30, and the bottom plate 29, a horizontal slot 42 is always provided so that these plates 36 can receive an S-shaped configuration reciprocally, forming a conduit 44 for a leaf spring. valve 16 (figure 2). More precisely, the plates 36 enclose the leaf springs 16 at least in the region of their angular section, with reduced clearance. The overlap of the plates 36, 40 occurs preferentially in the region of the S-curve of the plates 36. The plates 36 that function as side walls also have perforations 34 for the pin 26. For the alternative mentioned above, where the plates 40 of the transverse wall 30 are arranged on the inside and the plates 36 of the side walls on the outside, the valve leaf spring 16 is directly guided by the plates 40 of the transverse wall 30, which then form the guiding channel 44 between them. It can also be imagined that the conducting channel 44 is formed by both splints 40 and splints 36, with both splints 30 and 40 on each side, with reference to the longitudinal projection of the conducting channel 44, performing the conducting function segment by segment. The transverse forces that, by virtue of the valve leaf spring 16 acting on the transverse wall 30, will therefore be transferred through the plates 40 and by means of the pin 26 to the plates 36 which function as side walls, being from that point introduced into the bottom plate 29. Especially the transverse forces that are produced by virtue of the support of the valve leaf spring 16 on the freely projecting transverse wall 30, are transferred as tensile forces to the plates 36 which act as side walls. In this case, the pin 26, as a transmission component, produces a tight connection due to its shape between the plates 40 of the transverse wall 30 and the plates 36 which act as side walls without the plates 36, 40 having to be additionally interconnected. Based on the above description, the operating mode of pressure regulator 1 is as follows: when fuel pressure prevails at pressure inlet 8, which is sufficient to generate a pressure force greater than the closing force acting on the valve ball 18, the valve ball 18 will be lifted from the valve seat 12 and will release a certain cross-section of passage, so that fuel can flow into the internal compartment 6 of the regulator housing 2 and from there to the pressure outlet 4. Based on the elastic properties of the valve leaf spring 16, the cross-sectional area of the passage increases with increasing fuel volume, with the pressure differential between the pressure inlet 8 and the pressure outlet increasing comparatively only to a small extent and approximately linearly. However, the invention is not limited to a pressure regulator of this type. On the contrary, the pressure regulator according to the invention may also be a pressure regulator in which the intensity of the outlet pressure differs from the intensity of the inlet pressure, and may be regulated.
