A system and a method for the detection of fish parasites.

Abstract

The currently disclosed subject matter pertains to a submersible optical detection subsystem (SUDS) comprising one or more detection units (430A, 430B). The SUDS (110) can be configured for underwater optical detection to determine one or more fish-related properties of fish in an aquatic environment (20), including at least fish-related properties of fish parasites. At least one detection unit (430A, 430B) of the SUDS (110) can be optical and designed for enhanced wide-angle vision microscopy to detect fish lice of sizes / lengths that may be below one millimeter, for the purpose of improving fish health and monitoring plume conditions.
