Kickback cover retention system for a work tool

Abstract

A cover retention system (30) has a protrusion (32, 33) attached to a working tool (10) and a retaining block (34) attached to the protrusion. The cover retention system has a plunger block (36, 37) connected to and slidably movable relative to the retaining block. The protrusion, retaining block, and plunger block are slidably received in a cover (22) that includes a retaining groove (74). The cover retention system has a retaining plate (38, 39) disposed in the retaining groove and configured to engage with the plunger block. The cover retention system has a wedge (40, 41) with a front wedge face (380) that engages the retaining block and a rear wedge face (382) that engages an inner cover wall (106, 108).The cover retention system has a retaining fastener (44) that passes through a through hole (324, 370, 432) in each of the plunger block, retaining plate, and wedge and engages with a locking nut (42) on the retaining block to attach the cover to the working tool.
