Direct Link Beam Reporting Mechanism

Abstract

This document describes systems and methods for direct link (SL) beam reporting mechanisms between a transmitting unit (Tx) and a receiving unit (Rx). The Tx unit can send a direct link control physical channel (PSCCH) / direct link shared physical channel (PSSCH) combined with one or more channel status information reference signals (CSI-RS) in the corresponding beams to the Rx unit. The Rx unit can perform beam measurement on the CSI-RS and send a beam report to the Tx unit based on this measurement. Systems and methods are described for configuring various aspects of beam reporting (and its associated beam measurement) between the Tx and Rx units, for enabling SL beam reporting between the Tx and Rx units, and for performing SL beam reporting in relation to a zone identifier (ID) for one of the Tx and Rx units.
