Abstract

An optimized furnace for the physical activation of carbonaceous materials, with the flexibility to modify the operation without changing the equipment structure, which requires an acid pre-treatment and a particle size between 1-3 mm, and an air oxidation pre-treatment at 250°C with a particle size between 1-3 mm. This furnace comprises the following components: a helical mixing system; a water vapor dispersion system; a type K thermocouple, a PID controller and a PLC; a pressure control and operational safety system; and a computerized variable control system.
