Abstract

A wave-generating system (1) for W waves, consisting of a plurality of sequential modules (19) positioned in adjacent locations delimited by intermediate structures (10). Each sequential module (19) comprises a movable element capable of generating disturbances for the formation of W waves in a forward water zone (2a) of the water mass (2). Each movable element is provided with an enlarged portion (21; 61; 71; 81) located forward of a lower portion of the intermediate structures (10). The resulting configuration of sequential modules (19) and intermediate structures (10) helps to prevent the generated W wave from being affected by turbulence, typically present at the outlet of the intermediate partitions, as the intermediate structures (10) of the invention are positioned further back. The system allows for the generation of various wave types with different directions of travel at a reduced energy cost.
