Abstract
The present invention relates to a low-hygroscopic, high-solubility solid powder biostimulant composition intended to improve biogas production and operational stability in anaerobic digestion processes. The composition comprises: (a) between 75% and 85% by weight of a fermentable organic source derived from crystallized sweet whey powder, with a lactose content greater than 30% w / w and a protein content between 3% and 80% w / w; and (b) between 15% and 25% by weight of a multicomponent biological consortium comprising hydrolytic, cellulolytic, amylolytic, fermentative microorganisms and / or methanogenic archaea, along with associated hydrolytic enzymes. The synergistic interaction between the two components allows for: (i) accelerated hydrolysis of complex organic matter; (ii) reactivation of microbial activity in digesters with suboptimal performance; (iii) an increase in biogas volumetric production of at least 6% within up to 3 days; and (iv) an increase in the methane content of the biogas from approximately 56.1% to values close to 59.8%. The composition is presented as a free-flowing powder with low hygroscopicity, a moisture content of less than 10%, a pH between 5.0 and 8.0, and a shelf life of up to 12 months when stored between 1°C and 25°C, without requiring refrigeration. It is applicable in anaerobic digesters at the domestic, agricultural, and industrial scales. The invention also includes the method for applying this composition and a biogas production system that incorporates the biostimulant composition.
