Abstract

The present invention claims an express process for purifying lithium brine from brines with a high degree of contaminants, which are generated as a byproduct of traditional processes for the treatment of brines from the Atacama Salt Flat, in such a way as to minimize the presence of the contaminants K, Na and Mg in the lithium brine, which comprises: - jointly feeding a lithium brine stream with a high presence of Na, K, and Mg and a stream of sodium chloride and potassium chloride (NaCl / KCl) crystals to an online crystallization and filtration system; - crystallizing by evaporation the mixture of lithium brine with a high presence of Na, K, and Mg and NaCl / KCl crystals, to generate a pre-purified lithium brine stream and a mixed salt stream;and - filter the pre-purified lithium brine stream in a three-step filtration system to obtain a purified lithium brine stream.;
