Abstract

A computer-implemented method for decoding trademark encoding information and a computer-implemented method for encoding information in a trademark. The method for decoding a trademark includes the trademark a specific design of symbols encoding information, each symbol including a pair of differentiating elements having different values, the trademark including a first and a second portion, each including multiple symbols, the method comprising: scanning the trademark using a scanner device to obtain the scanned information; using the scanner device, decoding the first portion by applying a first decoding algorithm to the scanned information, the first decoding algorithm being stored in the scanner device and including information for decoding only the symbols of the first portion; sending a characterization of the second portion to a remote server;and using the remote server, decode the second portion by applying a second decoding algorithm to the characterization of the second portion, storing the second decoding algorithm on the remote server and including information to decode the symbols of the second portion.;
