Abstract

An implantable medical device for the treatment of reflux disease, comprising a motion-restriction device configured to be fixed to the stomach wall in order to prevent movement of the lower esophageal sphincter relative to the thoracic diaphragm. The motion-restriction device comprises a central portion and at least two outer portions. The at least two outer portions are configured to connect to each other along a vertical plane and are further configured to connect to the central portion in order to form at least part of a functional motion-restriction device.The central part comprises at least one horizontally extending flange and has a contact surface configured to come into contact with at least one surface of the at least two outer parts; furthermore, a portion of the horizontally extending flange is wedge-shaped with an angle between 20° and 60°.
