Embodiment Construction

[0023] Referring to the drawings, the handheld driver 10 shown in FIG. 1 generally includes a handle 12 and a cone holder 14 . As described in detail below, the cone holder 14 and handle 12 are connected together for rotation, and are configured to allow the operator to easily and reliably connect various tool bits to the cone holder and with the handle. 12 Structures for driving connections. A cone holder of the type shown here is described in U.S. Patent Application Serial No. 09 / 105,661, filed June 26, 1998, assigned to the assignee of the present application, and entitled "Quick-Acting Tool Bit Holder ”), the disclosure of which is hereby incorporated by reference. It should be appreciated that the hand-held drive unit 10 may also be used without the cone holder 14 , in which case the tool head is drive-connected directly to the handle 12 .

[0024] As shown in the preferred embodiment of FIG. 2, the handle 12 includes a twist sleeve 16 having a tube section 18 and a cap...

Abstract

The present invention is generally directed to a hand held tool (10) having a handle chassis (32) with a first end (36), a second end (38), and a bore (34) extending axially between the first and second ends. A sleeve (16, 20) having a first end (64), a second end (88), as well as a drive aperture (66) extending from the first sleeve end (64) toward the second sleeve end is disposed in the bore (34) and fixed to the handle chassis (32). The sleeve also has a storage cavity (78, 94) that extends from the second sleeve end (88) toward the first sleeve end (64) and a corridor (80, 90) extending transverse to the storage cavity (78, 94). A torque bar (22) is connectable to the sleeve (16, 20) in an operative position disposed in the corridor (80, 90) and a stowed position disposed in the storage cavity (78, 94).

Description

【Technical field】 [0001] The present invention relates generally to a hand-held tool bit driver, and more particularly to a hand-held driver having a torsion lever that can be selectively placed in an operating position or in a stored position within the drive handle. 【Background technique】 [0002] Hand-held driving devices include various screw drivers and similar devices generally known in the art. However, since the tool head and the handle are generally axially aligned, it is sufficient for the operator to apply force on a threaded workpiece. Torque is usually very difficult. [0003] Some manufacturers have attempted to reduce this problem by providing handles with a rear section that is pivotable relative to the front section of the handle between an axially aligned position and a transverse position relative to the front end. Other solutions include providing the handle with a rotating rod that can be rotated from a stowed position along the handle to an operating p...
