[0010] The present invention provides a multifocal lens and a method of producing the lens which correct optical aberrations of the lens wearer's eye. In general, these aberrations are any deviation from a spherical wavefront at any location on the wavefront. Classic descriptions of these aberrations are spherical aberration, astigmatism, coma and distortion. Alternatively, these aberrations can be described mathematically, eg with Zernike polynomials.
