An electrical distribution bus-bar (2) comprising a prismatic housing (4) containing a relatively wider cavity (16) and a relatively narrower cavity (14) separated by an inner partition (12) with an enlarged head portion (18) undersides of which define recesses (20). On each side of the partition (12) an elongate conductor (26) is held in place by an elongate cord like elastomeric retention member (30) retained below a shoulder (28) which projects inwardly from a side member (10) of the housing (4). The bus-bar (2) can be easily assembled and easily disassembled for recycling purposes. A complementary connector (6) having terminals for engagement with the conductors (26) includes relatively thicker and thinner legs (76, 78) for polarised insertion into the relatively wider and narrower cavities (16, 14). The connector (6) includes a projection (126) for engagement with a complementary stabilisation groove (22) on the head portion (18) to provide lateral stabilisation of the partition (12) and hence the conductors (26).
Description
busbar technical field The present invention relates to electrical bus bars and connectors for supplying power to a plurality of mating connectors. Background technique Conventional busbars include multiple stages and are therefore expensive to manufacture and / or difficult to reuse because of the difficulty in separating their different elements. When reusing such equipment, it is often desirable to separate its metal conductor portion from the plastic housing member. A prior art busbar is described in patent application JP4162381 comprising three longitudinal insulations, two of which have continuous conductors embedded therein. The three longitudinal members are held clamped together by clamping assemblies spaced along the length of the busbar, each clamping assembly comprising a tie bolt extending through the spacer and two arms which are urged toward each other by the tie bolts to Clamp the three longitudinal pieces towards each other. Removal of the busbars for reu...
