Abstract
An infrared light reflecting article is disclosed and includes a visible light transparent substrate including a polymer and an infrared light reflecting cholesteric liquid crystal layer disposed on the substrate. The substrate and infrared light reflecting cholesteric liquid crystal layer have a combined haze value of less than 3%.
Description
Infrared reflective film Background technique The present disclosure generally relates to infrared light reflecting films. More particularly, the present invention relates to an infrared light reflecting film including a cholesteric liquid crystal layer. Tinted plastic films and vacuum-coated plastic films have been applied to windows to reduce heat loads from sunlight. To reduce thermal loading, sunlight transmission in the visible or infrared portion of the solar spectrum (ie, the portion of the wavelength range from 400nm to 2500nm or above) may be blocked. Tinted films can control visible light transmission primarily through absorption and thus provide glare reduction. However, dyed films generally do not block near-infrared solar energy, so they are not very effective as infrared reflective films or solar control films. Stained films also often fade with exposure to sunlight. In addition, when the membrane is dyed with multiple dyes, the dyes often fade at differen...
