Embodiment Construction

[0022] figure 1 The residual current protective switch 10 shown in is arranged as part of an electrical circuit in order to be able to influence the current flow within said electrical circuit. The residual current circuit breaker 10 is coupled via lines 12, 12' to a voltage source, usually a power supply network. On the other side a load is coupled, here a load 14 is shown in symbolic form. The occurrence of a residual current (ie a current flowing through one of the lines 12 , 12 ′ to the load 14 side but not back through the other of the lines 12 , 12 ′) should now be detected by the residual current protective switch 10 . In the event of detection of a residual current, the disconnection contacts 28, 28' are opened, whereby the current flow is interrupted. The disconnecting contact 28 or 28 ′ is arranged in the connecting line between the input terminal 30 or 30 ′ of the residual current circuit breaker on the one hand and the output terminal 32 or 32 ′ on the other hand...

Abstract

A residual current device (10) is equipped with an additionally functionality so that an electric circuit in which the residual current device is switched is also protected from arcs. The residual current device comprises appropriate means (54, 56, 60, 58) which are used to detect whether an arc is produced in the electric circuit. A few additional means (42, 44, 46) allow the residual current device (10) to be triggered and the electric circuit to be interrupted also when the occurrence of an arc is detected in the electric circuit. The residual current device (10) is in conformity with IEC technology.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention addresses protection against arcing occurring in electrical circuits. Background technique [0002] If the optical switch is damaged and the distance between the two contacts of the optical switch is too small to interrupt the current flow, arcing can occur, for example, in the electrical circuit. An arc is then formed exactly between the two contacts. In addition to arcs forming in series in a circuit, arcing can also occur between the phase and neutral wires of a circuit. If an arc occurs, the temperature of surrounding components rises, and a fire may occur. [0003] It is therefore expedient to provide a device for ensuring protection against arc damage. Such devices are even regulated in the United States, which uses the so-called UL technology (Underwriters Laboratories, standard with 110 V mains voltage). There, an arc protection switch is used, which detects the presence of an arc in the circuit according to predetermi...
