Background technique [0002] A fuel cell is an electrochemical energy conversion device that uses input hydrogen and oxygen to perform a catalytic reaction to produce water as a by-product and a useful electrical output. Discrete fuel cells are typically connected electrically in series to form a stack. For example, a stack of 200 fuel cells, each producing about 0.75 volts, can output about 150 volts.
