Abstract

The invention provides a network segment crossing N+1 backup method which is used on gateway equipment. The method comprises the steps of receiving, through a configuration interface, gateway subinterface internet protocol (IP) addresses respectively corresponding to N floating IP addresses and static routes corresponding to N floating IP addresses; detecting whether main servers normally send out business messages; setting static routes corresponding to floating IP addresses of main servers which do not normally send out business messages and is judged to be abnormal to be in an ineffective state; detecting whether backup servers start floating IP addresses; setting static routes corresponding to floating IP addresses started by the backup servers to be in a effective state; and releasing outward the static routes of the floating IP addresses started by the backup servers through route protocol messages.
