The device upgrading method is based on the BCMP, the FTP and the SNMP to upgrade software versions of the devices in a cluster. The BCMP is used for assigning and managing the IP addresses and collecting device topological information; the FTP is utilized for providing the downloading of upgrade files; and the SNMP is used for giving upgrade parameters and upgrade instructions, so that rapid and simple IP address assignment and management and device upgrading implementation of the devices accessed the network can be achieved.
