The method includes: dividing cache space of a replica server into a prefix cache region and a suffix cache region; dividing original streaming media in a central server into a prefix part and a suffix part, and storing the prefix part and the suffix part into the prefix cache region and the suffix cache region in the replica server respectively; and when a user's request arrives, replacing cache for streaming media in the replica server according to current cache space condition of the replica server, entropies of all streaming media content in system access logging, popularity of content fragments in the replica server, entropy of streaming media content requested by the user, and popularity of the content fragments of the streaming media content requested by the user. The method applies different cache replacement strategies to the contents at different access levels, cache hit rate of the replica server can be increased, load of a backbone network can be lowered, and less time is taken for users to request the streaming media.
