Abstract

Methods and apparatus for uplink MIMO transmission in a wireless communication system are provided. In some particular aspects, scheduling of uplink MIMO transmissions may be determined between single-stream, rank=1 transmissions and dual-stream, rank=2 transmissions based on various factors. Furthermore, when switching between single-stream and dual-stream transmissions in the presence of HARQ retransmissions of failed packets, the scheduling function may determine whether to send HARQ retransmissions on single-stream transmissions or to send HARQ retransmit instead of sending a new packet on another stream.

Description

[0001] CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS [0002] This application claims priority to, and the benefit of, provisional patent application no. 61 / 411,454, filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on November 8, 2010, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] In general, aspects of the present disclosure relate to wireless communication systems, and more particularly, aspects of the present disclosure relate to scheduling of uplink transmissions in the presence of HARQ retransmissions in uplink MIMO systems. Background technique [0004] Wireless communication networks are widely deployed to provide various communication services such as telephony, video, data, messaging, broadcast, and the like. These networks (usually multiple-access networks) support the communication of multiple users by sharing the available network resources. An example of such a network is the UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network ...
