Abstract

The present disclosure relates to methods, systems, and devices for determining whether an accessory includes a particular circuit. The host device can measure the first voltage and the second voltage received from the accessory through which the voltage is supplied from the power source. Before measuring the second voltage, the host device can send an instruction to the accessory instructing the accessory to change an impedance of a power path between the power supply and the host device, and the host device can draw at least a threshold amount of current from the power supply via the accessory. The host device can then determine whether the accessory includes a particular circuit based on the relationship between the first voltage and the second voltage.
