Abstract

The present invention provides methods, systems and devices for mobility management of wireless communication systems using flexible bandwidth carriers. Some embodiments include determining and sending assistance information to one or more user equipments (UEs) to facilitate mobility management with respect to the flexible bandwidth carrier. Some embodiments include sending flexible bandwidth carrier information to the UE, including but not limited to: UE-centric approach, network-centric approach, network-centric approach with PLMN, SIB creation approach, and / or application layer method. Flexible bandwidth carrier systems may involve wireless communication systems that use portions of spectrum that may not fit within normal bandwidth. The flexible bandwidth carrier may be generated relative to the normal bandwidth carrier by amplifying or reducing the time or chip rate of the flexible bandwidth carrier relative to the normal bandwidth carrier. Some embodiments may extend the bandwidth of flexible bandwidth carriers.
