Embodiment 1

[0071] This embodiment describes the process of handing over a UE from an LTE system to a UMTS system. The switching process from UMTS to LTE is similar to the first embodiment, except that the source node is replaced by a UMTS node, the destination node is replaced by an LTE node, and the message name is changed accordingly. see below Figure 4 , taking the handover from LTE to UMTS as an example, the handover process from UMTS to LTE will not be described in detail. Figure 4 The illustrated method may include the steps of:

[0072] Step 401: Assuming that the source eNB decides to switch from LTE to UMTS, and the target cell is a cell under the RNC, then the source eNB sends a handover need message to the source MME, requesting resources on the target core network and the target RNC. The message includes the identity of the destination RNC and the transparent container from the source to the destination, and the message may also include indication information, indicating ...

Embodiment 2

[0100] This embodiment describes the process of handing over a UE from an LTE system to a UMTS system. The switching process from UMTS to LTE is similar to the second embodiment, except that the source node is replaced by a UMTS node, the destination node is replaced by an LTE node, and the name of the message is changed accordingly. see below Figure 6 , taking the handover from LTE to UMTS as an example, the handover process from UMTS to LTE will not be described in detail. Figure 6 The illustrated method may include the steps of:

[0101] Step 601: UE accesses a cell under the eNB, establishes an RRC connection with the cell, and then the eNB sends an uplink message to the MME, and the uplink message carries the identity of the UE and the location information of the UE. The location information of the UE may be the identity of the serving cell of the UE, or the identity of the eNB of the UE, or the identity of the area where the UE is located.

[0102] Step 602: The MME...

Embodiment 3

[0126] This embodiment describes the process of handing over a UE from an LTE system to a UMTS system. In the handover process, the source eNB sends a message to the target RNC, and the source eNB does not need to wait until after sending the message to the UE, that is, before sending the message to the UE, it sends a message to the source MME, so that the source MME forwards the context information of the UE to the destination SGSN. Figure 8 The illustrated method may include the steps of:

[0127] Step 801: The source eNB decides to switch from LTE to UMTS. The target cell is a cell under the RNC. At this time, the source eNB sends a handover request message to the target RNC, requesting the RNC to establish UE context information and allocate resources for the UE. The message includes the identity of the target cell and bearer information of the UE, and the bearer information of the UE includes the identity of the bearer, the Qos information of the bearer, and the data tunn...

Abstract

The invention provides a method for UE to switch between a UMTS and an LTE system. The method comprises: a source access network node sending a message to notify a source core network node that switching is needed, the message carrying indication information indicating that an enhanced switching process is needed; the source core network node sending a message to a destination core network node, the message comprising an identification of a service gateway of the UE and comprising information indicating that the destination core network node does not change the service gateway of the UE; and the destination core network node selecting a gateway corresponding to the gateway identification included in the message as the service gateway of the UE. The invention also provides several other methods for the UE to the switch between the UMTS and the LTE system. The invention further discloses an access network node device and a core network node device. According to the invention, the UE can carry out seamless switching between the UMTS and the LTE system, at the same time, the switching process can be simplified, the switching delay is reduced, the network efficiency is enhanced, and the user experience is improved.

Description

technical field [0001] The present application relates to the technical field of interoperability between different operating systems in wireless communication technology, and in particular to a method and equipment for UE switching between UMTS system and LTE. Background technique [0002] Modern mobile communication tends to provide users with high-speed multimedia services, such as figure 1 Shown is the system architecture diagram of System Architecture Evolution (SAE). in: [0003] User Equipment (UE) 101 is a terminal device for receiving data. Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN) 102 is a radio access network that includes macro base stations (eNodeBs / NodeBs), also known as radio access network nodes (RAN nodes), that provide UEs with an interface to access the radio network . Mobility Management Entity (MME) 103 is responsible for managing UE's mobility context, session context and security information. Serving Gateway (SGW) 104 mainly pro...
