no. 1 approach

[0092] Next, a first embodiment of the roller support member assembly for reliably detecting the presence or absence of sheets in each tray will be described. First, refer to Figure 5 (A), Figure 5 (B) A technical problem arising from providing the optical sensor 16 on the roller support member 11 that supports the paper feed roller 9 will be described.

[0093] exist Figure 5 (A), Figure 5 In (B), a straight line indicated by reference sign L0 indicates the optical axis of the optical sensor 16 , and a straight line indicated by reference sign L1 indicates a line connecting the swing center of the roller supporting member 11 and the rotation center of the paper feed roller 9 . . In addition, reference numeral α1 indicates the angle formed by the optical axis L0 of the lower tray 40 and the tray bottom surface 40a or paper (hereinafter referred to as "detection angle α1"), and α2 indicates the angle between the optical axis L0 of the upper tray 45 and the tray bottom s...

[0117] Next, a fourth embodiment of the roller support member assembly will be described. Figure 9 (A), Figure 9 The fourth embodiment (roller support member assembly 10D) shown in (B) uses pulleys 20A, 20B, and a belt 21 instead of the gears 19A, 19B, and 19C of the third embodiment described above.

[0118] The pulley 20A is fixedly provided to the roller support member 11 , that is, oscillates together with the roller support member 11 . The pulley 20B is provided rotatably with respect to the roller support member 11 , and the belt 21 is caught around the pulleys 20A and 20B. The pulley 20B has a two-stage structure, that is, it has a gear portion that engages with the gear 19D in addition to a portion that wraps around the belt 21 .

[0119] Furthermore, the reduction ratios of the gears and pulleys are set so that the detection angles α1 and α2 are 90° regardless of the posture of the roller support member 11 in the same manner as in the third embodiment described ab...

[0125] Next, refer to Figure 11 ~ Figure 16 A first embodiment of wiring of a flexible flat cable (FFC) electrically connecting the roller support member assembly 10 and the circuit board 39 will be described. Figure 11 is a side cross-sectional view of the roller support member assembly 10 and its mounting portion, Figure 12 is a perspective view of the roller bearing assembly 10, Figure 13 is a perspective view of the roller support member assembly 10, the circuit board 39, and the FFC 17, Figure 14 It is a perspective view of the lower side of the device with the upper tray 45 and the lower tray 40 removed, Figure 15 yes Figure 14 A partial enlargement of the Figure 16 From Figure 15 A diagram showing a state where the partition plate 35 and the roller support member assembly 10 are removed.

[0126] exist Figure 11 ~ Figure 16 In , reference numeral 17 denotes a flat and flexible flexible flat cable (hereinafter referred to as “FFC”) that connects the opti...

Abstract

A printer includes a lower tray and an upper tray disposed above the lower tray. An optical sensor which detects the presence or absence of a sheet is disposed above the upper tray. The upper tray is disposed to be slidable. A sliding operation of the upper tray enables modes to be switched over between a mode where the optical sensor opposes the upper tray and a mode where the optical sensor opposes the lower tray. One sensor can detect the presence or absence of the sheet in multiple trays.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a recording device including a plurality of trays for storing media. Background technique [0002] Conventionally, paper feeding trays (cassettes) that can be attached and detached from the main body of the device as shown in Patent Document 1 have been widely used. In addition, a plurality of paper feeding trays (cassettes) are provided on the upper and lower sides, and paper feeding trays (cassettes) can be fed from each paper feeding tray (cassette). The structure of paper is also well known. [0003] The device described in Patent Document 1 is a double-layer cassette having paper storage portions on the lower and upper layers, and the upper cassette is provided rotatably and slidably relative to the lower cassette. Furthermore, when paper is fed out from the lower cassette, the upper cassette is used while sliding so as not to become an obstacle. As a result, the paper feed roller can come into contact with the p...
