Abstract

Methods and apparatuses for selecting samples for secondary synchronization signal (SSS) detection are described. Multiple bursts of respective signals received from a stronger cell (110c) and a weaker cell (110y) are sampled, and at least a portion of the signal (1204) from the stronger cell (110c) is cancelled. A sequence (1202, 1210, 1216) for detecting the weaker cell (110y) is determined after reducing effects of a portion (1206, 1212, 1220) of the sampled bursts of the weaker signal based on the interference from a remaining portion (1208, 1214, 1218) of the stronger signal that is not cancelled.
