[0013] According to the principles of the present invention, a system and method for perfusion imaging are provided. The results of ionizing radiation and chemotherapy are changes in the level of hemoglobin and water content in the irradiated tissue area, as well as changes in the local perfusion pattern with increased vasodilation. Perfusion imaging technology measures the tissue concentration, water, oxygen saturation, and flow of hemoglobin to obtain the tumor perfusion level during the delivery of radiation therapy as a measure of the effect of radiation therapy.
